That zone gives a really nice robe, +10 Int .. if you enjoy a dark off-orange color. I was late and entered at level 24, which was a cakewalk, but like I said, the robe was a "Holy Grail" drop at the time. Information on gaining entrance is listed below. http://eq2.ogaming.com/db/quests/TheSecretValley.php

The zone in Nek is Necromancer's Lair. You do the Necromancer Bloodrunes quest to get access. It's perfect for 25 to 30 level range and you can solo it all the way to the final boss. Thing is, adept3 tank or not, you'll have to dispose of a group of 4 mobs 29th before the main guy spawns, and when he does he summons two giant skel wars after he gets down to 50%. Due to mana supply you'll probably need a friend to help defeat them all because there is no break between. The loot that drops is Necromancer pantaloons which are pretty good. There is also a named giant spider that spawns elsewhere in the instance, but you will probably not be able to solo it because it has a wicked poision that does serious damage to your pet and has a ton of hp.

The entrance is further down the road in the hillside. (think it's lvl 17-21ish)

Thanks for all the replies

I got into the Valley of the Rogue Magi, you hafta do some harvesting quest to gain access. Neat little instance, everything was green though so it wasn't much of a challenge (till I ran around and aggro'd 5 mobs, then it was FUN :smileyvery-happy: )

Finished the Blood Runes quest and got into the Necromancers Lair too, this looks promising...everything was yellow and SOLO which was nice. I didn't get to far, was late but it's kinda a smaller zone...might get a buddy and go through the whole thing later on.

If anyone else has some cool solo places or instances let me know. I know there's a quick instance in TS for searching for Grandpa Blumble. Search through a pirate cave and you can pick which instance to join, there's even a heroic version which is nice for groups.

Here's a list from eq2.tentonhammer.com (copy and paste ) They should still be doable after the combat update:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Valley of the Rogue Magi (level 16-20) – 671,433 in the Commonlands – Access quest: read a note attached to a signpost at the crossroads, then with gathering skill of 20+, gather up 5 Withered Mushrooms, 5 Soapweed, and 5 figs. Take these to Merchant Marcus at the Crossroads to finish the quest. You can return to the Valley anytime afterward by buying Earthwalker potions from Marcus. Mobs are level 16-20, with paired 19s and a 20 named skelly.

Shattered Vale (level 16-20): -2340, -63 in Antonica – Access quest: Rask Helstot in Eldaar Grove (behind the monk dojo) will give you a series of quests in Vermin’s Snye, eastern and then northeastern Antonica that you’ll probably need a group for (lvl 19 mobs). When you have access, you’ll find a small instance with a good chance of a named mob.

A Pirate's Hidden Stash (level 20-25) – (around -90, -850 in Thundering Steppes, on the beach between Antonica zone-in and the docks). Level 21-25 mobs, pretty boring, with really no chance of a named.

The Rumbler Caves (level 23-27) – (around 550, 180 in the Thundering Steppes) – the next step up from the Pirate’s Stash. More mobs here tho.

An Open Grave (level 27-33) – (around 1000, 807 in Thundering Steppes, hang a left past Ott Stompgut down the ravine). The toughest solo instance in TS.

Tallon Hording Halls (level 29-34) – (around +420,-218 in Zek) – North from the mines, kill orcs guarding the door to get in. Small instance, haven’t seen a named mob inside.

D'Morte Burial Chambers (level 31-36) If you purchased the adventure pack, /claim your ring and inspect it to get a vision. Head to Nektulos Forest. South along the wall from Gul’Thex Citadel you’ll find the burial mound entrance (676,-61. Included are solo mobs 30-33, with a 33 heroic and a 34 heroic named near the end.

Dire Hollow (level 31-36) and Underrot Caves (level 35-40) Another adventure pack zone in Nektulos Forest, talk to Inspector Dano at the NPC camp near the D’Morte entrance. He’ll randomly give you one of these two quests, pick the “Alone” version. Dire Hollow is a fair distance south on the same side of the river as Dano, Underrot Caves are also south on the opposite side of the river. Large solo instances, each can take about 2 hours.

Sullon Mines (level 33-3 -258,-27 in Zek – head towards Deathfist Citadel, hang a left a distance before you go through the first gate/wall. The door is along the zone wall, and you’ll have to kill the guard to get in. Large (2 hr) solo instance with decent chance of named mobs.

Cave of Wonder (level 33-3 around 425,-857 in northwestern Enchanted Lands, lots of spiders!

The Dark Den (level 37-43) -140, -244 in Zek – West along the valley wall as you approach Deathfist Citadel after the second gate/wall. Kill the spiders at the entrance to light up the door.

Cavern of Tangled Weeds (level 37-43) -645,-720 in Enchanted Lands – North of Tagglefoot farms you’ll see a crater with a tree growing inside. On the south end is a small stone that will get you into the zone.

The Cleansing of the Cove (upper 30s) in the Feerott, seek out Tarin Varinblade or Mashara Tiogran to begin the access quest. More details to come!

The Forbidden Sepulchre (low 40s) in Everfrost, search for a fallen barbarian around 180, -520 to begin the access quest.

----------------------------------------------------------

Hope this helps,

Methusa...
