View Full Version : Is Lich working right?

Ive noticed a strange side effect while having lich on. For some reason I seem to keep losing health.

Ive read the spell discription and cant find anything were it says it drains health.

Last night while forming a group, one member was fighting all the way across the zone and my health was going down as fast as his was. And I wasnt even in combat. Other people in the group right next to me noticed that same thing. Are healer actually had to heal me a couple of times because I was losing health so fast.

If I click Lich off, everything gos back to normal.

I also find while soloing that if I eat the best food, it dont seem to drain as bad. For the first time in 50 levels, Im going to have eat food. (Why didnt anybody tell me food tasted so good?)

I /bugged this, but maybe its working right and I missed something in the spell discreption.

Also it happens everytime I log in, so its not just a one time occurance.

It's working right. Lich drains your health and gives you power. As a bonus effect, it also lifetaps anytime you land a disease-based spell. If you examine the spell in your spell book you'll notice the health cost up top. Also, whenever you're in combat (it's kinda weird now with the group combat stuff) you're not going to be regening like you would out of combat, so obviously lich is going to drain you very quickly. And yea, food is a must have now =)

Look at the top two lines of the details portion (as well as the first sentance of the description), it uses health when cast and every six seconds. This is not a bug but by design.

Oh, that explains it! :smileywink:

But as far as draining health while a groupmate is fighting across zone - just toggle lich off until you get to the fight.

I've got a question about the spell. Now, I havn't used it much (new to lich). I love the spell, great look (except for the warping hair) but I've noticed something odd.

If I cast pets the spell goes off. If I cast the AOE lifetap it goes off. If I cast skinrot it goes off. But it doesn't always go off with the lvl 50 life tap. Is that intended? It goes off most of the time but my logs show that near the end of the fight it stops.

I noticed this too. I think it is just because the lifetap damage kills the mob so the proc from lich doesnt do anything because the mob is already dead.

a helpful tip for Lich:

The spell shapechanges you into a skellie, so if you are riding a horse (or carpet, I guess), you dismount. However, if you use your whistle again, you remount the horse, turn back into your regular character, but keep the lich effect. Bug? maybe, maybe not, but certainly useful.

Just use the /hide command and you can be on your horse with lich on

being lvl 42 necro / ratonga ( love beings a little bugger :smileywink: ) I never experienced Lich. So here is my question : 1 point of power every 6 secongs is granted to the caster. Isn'it a little low ? I mean, in order for it to actually increase your mana in a fight youd need more than that ?? All other power regen aside, to accumulate 50 points of power ( minimal avg spell cost ( correct me if im wrong ), would require 5 minutes of waiting !! Also... 1% more power in your power pool ?? on a 2000 - 3000 power pool... thats like nothing ! 20-30 points of mana ??? COME ON ! The lifetap is nice tho.

1%.

So, with a 400 int power pool of 4,700, you regen 47 power every six seconds... the highest power regen in the game.

The spell description is a bit messed up. It actually regens 1% of your power each tic which is real nice. I believe the master version does 2% a tic which almost puts you at the cap, as long as you have a decent power pool.

Also, its on DIFFERENT "timer" with "capped" regen. I mean, during every tick, during every 6 seconds I recieve 2 different power regens - one from Lich, and another from Innate/Items/Buffs - so, Lich isnt in this cap. Also, it takes exactly 4% of your HP pool every tick (which is too high IMO) - if you have 6000hp, Lich will take 240HP every 6 seconds.

Thanks for that screen /drool.

Also thanks for the clarification on the regen cap, I was wondering if lich could render the other power regen traits useless do to the caps and I guess it doesnt!!

I think they made the health cost 4% per tick, so out of combat you are in regen stasis without food.

The hitpoints lost was always greater than the mana/power received, but we have/had spells such as lifetaps and lifetaps over time to deal with this, so i've never really seen this as a huge issue to be honest. I also have master 1 lich (god i wish they would change the illusion on that) - and rarely have problems keeping my hitpoints over 90%. A guildie/wizard in a group last night commented on how fast I was gaining power, so all is good :smileyhappy: hmm, edit - the two images posted here, the adept 3 and the master 1 - are both of these post cu? note the siphoning on the adept3 is better than the master 1? i've never had the adept 3, got master 1 prior to getting 50, so can anyone confirm? the master looks correct from memory.

Message Edited by Tinantier on 09-28-2005 02:21 AM

Adept 3 on live right now was only like 75ish health back on the lifetap (294 damage with 235 int)

I have not had an issue with Lich detrimentally affecting my HP when out of combat. If my mana is full it is not stealing HP too badly because I use level 50 food which helps my regeneration out of combat. Also I choose MANA regeneration twice when I repsec'd. Even in a heated battle I never come close to being out of mana or dangerously low on HP. I blow out all my dots... and cast siphon life while dots are out to keep my HP up. In essence I am chain casting and never in a position to be OOM or out of HP due to liching.Koupa

I think the combination of going from the new app1 lifetap (300ish damage) back to siphon life (900ish damage) AND the addition of insane lich procs made me go berzerk with DPS. I just couldn't help myself from casting everything I had nonstop for those procs =/ My first few fights were kamakazi nuke fests as I was trying to lifetap my health back from lich lol Of course I either slaughtered things, or died in a blaze of glory (died 3 times...once because I FD'd and forgot about lich). Needless to say...I'm excited to group with my guildmates and see if any of the tanks can hold agro now (this makes me smile as they could *barely* hold it before). I suppose I should settle down and use tactics...but it really is kind of fun to just lich everything (including me) to death =)

Hehe yeah definately have to make a mental note to click off lich when FD'd or when running to break an encounter thats gone bad (low on health, still have a dot on you etc).
lich wont kill you if you run out of hp to run the spell, it just turns off unless you take the right amount of dmg on the last tic thats equal to what hp you have left but if you have 60 hp left and it tics it just turns off done it before though fd does get ya killed
