<DIV>As i have played many pvp mmorpg's, and loved to duel in eql, the addition of deuls in eq2 was a god-send in my case.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I thought ide share a few tips and experiences with you guys.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As of yet I havnt found a class I cannot beat, only had trouble with chanters and other necros so far. Only time I have lost a duel is when i got very cocky and tried to muck around, or dueled people 7 or more levels higher than me. As I said I love pvp, but im sure any necro could have the same success with a little practice. REMEMBER, you can use /duelbet to add some fun into it, and beat down some arrogant pallys!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Tips: </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>General:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>- Our game is kinda dodgy, but it works. I geneally start out with pet attack, then instant fear. Stick you dot and pet summon(rats or the like - AWSOME against casters!) then just try keep distance, and if they stop or are stunned by pet, throw fresh dot, or maybe root or another fear in.</DIV> <DIV>- I generally use the scout pet in duels. He will be behind the player most of the time, so he'll land all his backstabs etc. Higher levels he has a small silence proc, and just generally does better than the warlocks imho. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Scouts:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>-SEE INVIS. Scouts that know pvp will always try go invis, very easilly beaten with this spell.</DIV> <DIV>-STAY AWAY. Once these guys get a stifle or two in its ALL over. Especially assass/rangers. You need to keep a good distance and let pets/dots do the work.</DIV> <DIV>-As above, they will no doubt hit you with some ranged abailities, but these generally have a long re-use timer, if your lucky you might pull a lifetap off in between, whilst they hit hard, they dont hit as hard as them backstabbing you!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Mages:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>-Just pet and dot and summon rats then spam lifetap/dd. Fear or stun always helps early on, but I find everyone goes down pretty fast.</DIV> <DIV>-When versing necros/summoners, try root pet as soon as deul starts. Thats their highest dps. Then the same as the others. Dont bother doing dmg to pet tho. Waste of time.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Priests:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>-Conserve mana! Especially versing clerics, these guys have like a billion hp after all their heals. They cant do alot of damage, so just pet/dot/summmon and sit back. dont waste mana on anything else, unless u get hit hard, then use lifetap. Just chew through them.</DIV> <DIV>-Druids and shamans have a few weird spells that you have to watch out for, and generally can hit kinda hard. Land all your stuff on them and try stun and fear as much as possible. Youl learn these ones after a duel or two, and dont prove much trouble.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Fighters:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>-DISTANCE! run in circles if you have to, let ya pet/dot/rats chew through them. Not really much to it. If i get hit/stunned I usually DONT bother lifetapping, unless i can land a quick fear. They got alot of hp, but it drops pretty fast.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Please feel free to add comments or suggestions!!</DIV>

<DIV>Have you dueled a monk yet? They have this instacast stifle/stun that holds you down for about 10 seconds.</DIV> <DIV>Most of my duels were over in 10 seconds.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As i have won most of the duels, i tend to think i'm/we are not that bad at it <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV>I owned a few furies, [Removed for Content] SK's and pallies. But monks? Jeez they kill me so fast its not funny anymore LOL</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<P>Oh and i try to cast Fear ASAP but how do you get the other guy to start from a distance?</P> <P>And put /pet attack along with your first strike in a macro (Terror for me) that shaves off an extra .5 seconds.</P> <P> </P> <P> </P>

And your See Invis wont help. Nothing usefull in these "tips", common sence only. Have you EVER dueled monk/bruiser with their interrupts/knockbacks? Have you EVER dueled SK with their HT? Have you EVER dueled coercer with nostop stiffle/mes/TM? The ONLY chance to win these classes is to win in casting fear (1s) and pray it will not get resisted. Then you have chance. All other classes are cake for necro.</span><div></div>

I have a buddy who is a defiler.  His wards are unbelievable, any advise against that? <div></div>

I have to agree with the above caster...sounds like not only are you in your 30s or low 40s (based on how you can manage to duel someone 7 lvls above you)..but you're giving tips on things you haven't done.  If you'd ever dueled a scout and tried your own tip you'd know that we cannot see stealthed enemies.  Stealth and Invis are different types of hiding abilities and require different spells to see through.  We used to have a see stealth ability I believe, but not anymore.

I got called 'cheap' (not exact words, which I won't use here since they are offensive) for using my Maleficent Touch in 2 duels against a Necro who both times managed to fear me right at the start so I couldn't melee or cast and had trouble getting back to the circle. Funny, that.

<DIV> <DIV>I dunno about the PVP tips that are posted by the original poster but all good duelers open with stun, so sending pet and running around never ever works. Then i don't know what scouts you are talking about because rangers/ assasins can easily kill us in 1 shot. There is no time to run around.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I don't know how most people can say they own others in dueling. If you play against good pvp players its hard as hell. I would put necros in middle because our stun is such a long cast.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Some classes like monks/ wizards/ rangers have almost insta stuns. Our [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot]ing stun has a 3sec cast so the only spell i have found useful to counter other classes' stuns is fear.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Here are some tips for necros in PVP (strategies i have seen work but others will definitely have better)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Tip #1: Remember Stun = Win. Dueling is pretty much a game of stun. Whoever stuns first wins. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> <DIV>Tip #2: Opening spell is what decides the match. Classes with fast stuns like rangers, assasins, wizards, paladins, brawlers will open with that. Our opening spell is 2 choices Fear (0.5 sec) and Seism (2.0 sec).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Tip#3: Warlocks, Wizards need 1 spell to kill you. Just 1 spell. You need to keep them interrupted at all times when not stunned/ feared. Rats and main pet are the best for interrupting their spells.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Tip #4: Scout classes can go in stealth and we can't see stealth anymore. Usually they will either try stealth or stun as their opening. Its a judgement call then. Fear is faster and works against their stun. But if they instead decide to go in stealth it takes them a blink (0.1 sec) and the only way you can counter that is target them and click pet attack. Oh if you open with fear and they go in stealth before that.... you are dead in 1 shot.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Tip #5: Fighter classes. Don't let them get close. They get close, they stun and kill you. You have to run in circles and send pet and try casting either fear or rats on them. If they get close ... you are dead.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>This is the strategy I have seen work best which means a success rate of 2 in 5 since our fear is resisted a lot and is just plain lame as the person just runs out of dueling circle and then you have to surrender</DIV> <DIV>fear - while fearing send pet - seism - convulse - rats - lifetap - win.</DIV></DIV></DIV><p>Message Edited by prince_sd on <span class=date_text>09-19-2005</span> <span class=time_text>05:05 PM</span>

<DIV>I haven't tried duels on EQ2 yet, but I know that on Sullon Zek teams pvp resist gear was king.  Max out your resist stats and you can own casters. I pretty sure that should be pretty relevent here as well.</DIV>
