View Full Version : Level 44 training choice
<DIV>Ok, I know which of these I would pick if I was lower level. It would be Words of the wicked master 2.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>But at level 50 ( which many of us are ). What would you pick?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have Adept 3 Grisly Ward. Good spell but can only use defensively. cuts dps, wouldn't use that much on raids ..err. not sure if this would help keep pet alive to aoe's. Doesn't get upgraded till late 50s.. which is good.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have Adept 3 Rending Frenzy. Could use offensively and defensively ( which is good ...).. Doesn't get upgraded till level 55. It seems like it is a 3 percent or so upgrade in speed when it procs. mainly a tank or rogue pet upgrade though. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have only adept 1 for necrotic mending, but from everything I hear, healing your pet isn't a great option. I read that its tough to keep them up on a tough mob ( and they do go down quick it seems with the mitigation changes ). As well as this doesn't seem to be a huge upgrade from adept 1 to master 2. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I only have adept 1 Words of the Wicked, but really it gets upgraded from what I see at level 53. It is a Huge upgrade. But really I see myself getting the adept 3 version if the level 53 if possible or atleast doing my best to get the adept 1. ( being guilded helps ). even better the master 1 sooner or later. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Kinda in a quandry here. Clearly the best spell is Words of the wicked, but upgrade it for just 3 levels? eeck. Prolly the one that would be on 24/7 would be Rending frenzy. And would be on for a good long time. Necrotic mending is an upgrade that wouldn't be changed for a long time, but .. well how useful is it. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Someone give me some input please. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Remember I am asking about what would you do at level 50. Not lower. Surely there are some 50s out that that could give some input. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks, </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

I'd be interested to here some opinions too. I'm not able to play till next week and I'm trying to get an idea for what I'll be choosing so I can get on and actually play. I'm not sure if the earlier training options are able to be used in later levels or not. Do those choices matter now? <div></div>

<DIV>It seems to me that the any training option you take becomes pretty much obselete when you get the next spell in the upgrade line and grey out the M2. So, it really doesnt matter too much what options you take at 14, 24, or 34 at 50 - and the level 44 option really isnt going to effect you for too long since the upgrade choices are all lvl 42 and save one that is 39.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I personally chose the Grisly Brace (defensive stance) upgrade for 3 reasons:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>1) Obviously, it will help me solo - which I am doing alot now so I can explore the new zones at my own pace, and I dont seem to be hurting for dps when I do group with my guildies in Living Tombs or whatnot.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>2) Words of the Wicked will be the first to get a spell upgrade via leveling, Necrotic Mending isnt going to heal enough in my opinion to use it and detract from my dps soloing whether M2 or ad1, and the debuff Necromantic Symbol just didnt seem worth it for basic leveling. If these were my lvl 54 choices - it would have been alot harder because that would have effected my end-game (til next expansion anyways) abilities and I will want to be the most effective while raiding when Im 60.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>3) I forgot the third reason, but the above 2 are enough for me :smileyhappy:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Either way, the M2 you pick isnt going to be very critical. Even if you pick "the wrong one" for your lvl 54 option - the master2's arent significantly better than the M1's so its not like you are screwed.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks,</DIV><p>Message Edited by Eirgorn on <span class=date_text>09-16-2005</span> <span class=time_text>05:26 AM</span>
<DIV>I choose Grisly brace. I did that last night. I wanted badly to get the offensive stance, but I know I will get that upgraded in 2.5 levels, so what is the point. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So far I am impressed. My Adept 3 rotting thrall peels mobs off me easily and holds agro well. He can even steal agro off groupmates well, which comes in handy when your cleric is getting beat on. The RT3 isn't the monster he was before Prepatch, but he can usually survive long enough for us to kill the mob off.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Plus I will be able to use the M2 version of this spell for a long time. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

Rending Frenzy. That buff is on the pet in offensive or devensive stances. Besides, the devensive stance is a joke with zero mitigation. The days of having a pet that can tank are over. <div></div>

<DIV>The pet can't tank as much, but he sure does a much much better job at gaining aggro of every single mob that touches me. I think that's a fair trade-off and am happy with it. Besides, with the pet, the rats and the ghastly stench zombie bashing on the mob, throwing in a Convulse and a Fear, the battles are much shorter so the pet doesn't need to tank as much. </DIV>

I couldnt possibly be happier with how the pet tanks. I think it is awesome. Big kudos. I love being able to pull 4 mobs and pet gets aggro, I just pick one and kill em off. Transfer life, siphon, and so on. Awesome job.<div></div>

<P>I agree with Badd Boy in DoF last night my level 42 pally tank i was grouping with ( just him and me and i am a level 41 Necro) pulled a group of level 48 down arrow mob and went down fast not even trnasfer of life could keep him up, but my rotting thrall adept 3 grab aggro and cleaned house on these guys between mend bones and transfer of life and thrwoing my rats and gastly stench at the mobs he shredded them and still had 35% health at the end, my tank pet is awesome and with hold aggro now the way he dose i have not pulled it once from him since the changes.</P> <P> </P> <P> </P>

I chose the pet heal. I didn't see an upgrade to it listed in the sites I checked and it won't matter much in a few levels anyways.

I chose the pet heal also. I have everything else at adept III, and have both the master II pet heals, as the lower one heals well 'in between' for no health cost and the upper one steals health. I have found so far when soloing that a quick transfer life, pet heal, siphon life seems to keep pet up fine, and my health stays ok for the duration too in most cases. <div></div>

<P>I choose the pet heal. The differences on the stances seemed minor, and the difference on rending frenzy seemed very small indeed. And I was casting pet heal every battle when pulling quickly, so the improved efficiency will mean I can cast it a bit less often.</P> <P>Our pets take a huge beating, so from one point of view it's almost not worth healing them at all. Letting your pet get low and then deleting it is definately something you could do instead. Still, I feel nervous when Im solo in a dangerous zone and my pet is low on health.</P> <P> </P>
