Swarm pets are cast vs. a single target, and when that target dies, the pets disappear. It's always been that way - Swarm of Rats, Swarm of Bats, Rotting Packhounds (I miss those) all did the same thing.

In group I just target something the MA isn't on, cast it and let him know to leave the mob with the stank on it for last.

This is the same pet as the old Rotting Packhounds.

And yes as others have said our dumb fire is a a single target pet with an aoe attack as compared to the other classes aoe pets.

Easiest way to use them I find is to put main pet onto primary target, tab and send rats on second mob along with ghastly stench dumbfire mob unless a 3rd mob is in the group. Then its tab again before dumbfire so in effect having 1 pet on each of the 1st 3 mobs in a group. Works well and stops the main pet killing the 1st mob too quick and losing the extra aoe damage the dumbfire pet is doing.

Sark.
