Hi! I don't know if any of you have tried out clinging darkness on a mob yet but I have. And since this is all new, its apprentice 1 of course. However, I don't know if that would be the reason for the problem. Anyway, I was fighting a white con with 1 arrow down mob, and used clinging darkness. It stuck on the mob but was dropped off him after a duration of 5-10 seconds. This happend every time I used it. The total timer on the spell is 45+ seconds something. I dont know why this is happening. Guessing it is supposed to be like this, and the mob after each tick gets a resist chance which if he succeeds, cancels my spell. Or it is not supposed to be like this which means it's a bug. Asking here before I post anything as a bugreport cuz not sure if it is working as intended or not. Anyone know? <div></div>Very sad. That makes this spell kind of pointless to use at the moment. It breaks VERY easy. I really hope they change this back to how it was or lower the possibility for the target to break the spell. It's way to high as it is. After 5-10 seconds on a spell which should last about 45+. Thank you, then I know it's not a bug, just a modification needed. Well, I'm pretty sure they did it as a way to prevent kiting, but I think they need to change it so that it only breaks the snare component and doesn't drop the damage portion as well.

I'm not really sure what the point of a snare is if it breaks whenever you do damage.

Only use I have found for it since they changed it, and you happen to be level 50, is to cast it just for the dmg/heal portion of lich while I wait for other spells to refresh. If you're not 50 though =( should be a lesser version of lich imo somewhere in the 30s, but thats another topic.

My typical routine is to hit mob with all DoTs upfront which, until yesterday, I really didn't pay that much attention to spell msgs. I assumed (and yeah I know what they say about ASSUME <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> ) they were all doing their thing. Never really cared about the snare part of CD, once pet gets aggro, at least at my lvl (2<img src="/smilies/b2eb59423fbf5fa39342041237025880.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />, I like to melee in between casting. Anyway, yesterday I made a CD Adept3. I really wanted to see the difference in it so I started paying attention to the spell dmg msgs.</p><p>Imagine my surprise when time and again I'd see a single dmg msg from CD then nothing. Reading the spell description it says nothing at all about the spell dmg possibly breaking if the target is damaged. So I started playing around with it. I noticed if I used Bludeoning Earth (think that's it, the magic DoT one) before CD, and didn't use other DoTs, CD would start doing multiple dmg. If, on the other hand, I used other DoTs or DDs, CD would do a single dmg then I'd get the msg "Darkness Recedes". What the heck??!! Are my experiences proving what folks said in this thread? What's SOE's response been, if any? This pretty much sucks that a DoTs dmg portion can be interrupted by other dmg. Talk about worthless. I did a /bug (before I found this thread so guess SOE developers will bit-bucket that) and told them if the spell doesn't work as described they should at least be nice enough to replace the rare or ink I wasted on CD. <div></div><div>yea man, this spell sux becuz of how fast it breaks,..... if the spell was reduced to only last 10 secs..... heck even 5 secs.... BUT ACTUALLY HELD UP after damaging the mob, it would be totally worth it and kick so much [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn]!!!</div>
I use the spell all the time. Its great esp when used with root and stun to deal with adds.No, if you want EQ1 style root/snare kiting, it's not as useful for that. But if you learn to play the class to its fullest potential you'll find that you do have use for the stackable snare this spell provides.
