<DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I need some urgent advice from other necro's. Ok so im a lvl 31 necro and i got tired of killing stuff outdoors (even though i was making a killing on exp) im told constantly and read how wonderful Trial of Harclave is for exp/treasure, so i finally buy splitpaw, figure out the torturous upper tunnels and get to den, start up trial of harclave.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Immedietly on entering i see across a casm groups of 4, lvl 31 and 32  heroic mobs, i know from experience that even 1 heroic mob will own my pet [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] quick and almost fall of my seat, do i just suck [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] and you other necro's can solo a group of 4 same level heroic mobs?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So i light all the torches and kill all the gnolls guarding them no worries, then i have to kill some mushroom guy, so i move the plank across the casm and start down invised, yet more heroic groups of mobs lvl 31-33, no chance of killing these at all, im wondering if this mob is maybe past all these suicidal groups somwhere and search around until i finally try a 31 heroic group of 2 thinking that maybe they arent so tuff, and get OWNED, as i suspected i would. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My equipment is very good, i have more power and hp then most casters ive seen at my level, nearly all my spells are adept/app3-4 , im using fallen hero and packhounds for pets. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>What the hell am i doing wrong? or am i missing somthing fundemental? or do i just suck [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot]? im fighting lvl 35's no worries outdoor in ZEK and EL, in fact easily.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>How can anyone be expected to kill 4 heroic mobs a few levels higher then them, I DONT GET IT.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Any info/help will entitle you to a larger portion of karma portioned out by the universe and my eternal gratitude.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<P>i had to stop laughing so i could reply here. I laughed for an hour or so so sorry for the late reply.</P> <P>When you light all the torches, you needed to examine the coffin, between the last 2 torches. Not sure, but i think you dont get update for mushroom king before you do. However, if you get the coffin a buff is granted to you called: "blessing of harclave".</P> <P>this buff will give you roughly 4times your current HP and mana. Also it will cast thorns and a [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot]load of other spells on you.</P> <P>Heck as a necro you can pull 2 grps of those mobs and go AFK, and still when you come back not you but the mobs will be dead.</P> <P> </P> <P> </P> <P>So, if you're still wondering how to kill the heroic mobs: Its with that buff</P>

<DIV>Read your quest journal, you're supposed to light the torches.  There are a bunch of solo gnolls between you and the torches. A couple of wanderers too so watch where you're going. But otherwise pretty easy to get there. And as a necro you can even invis past the parts you don't want to do...anyhow. Once you open the chest you gain a super buff..as a caster you'll still sometimes get in trouble if you have like 3 groups on you, but the buff gives you a reactive (each time they hit you) root..so you can just run around and regenerate your health (you regenerate over 1k every 10 secs or so).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Just off the top of my head, here's what I remember about the buff doing to me...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Gave me over 5k hp, tons of mana, and a huge renegation to both. Buffed the hell out of my stats as well.  The regeneration tick insures that things stay off your pet...so in a week or so when we have nice assassin pets he'll be ideal to bring along.  My suggestion is to just pest blast the hell out of them and chain HO.  Things that have al ong cast time get interrupted.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I had to go at one point so I just invised through the rest of it (you go DOWN the tunnel in the floor to get to the last part), stacked the boxes while invis and then killed the last guy.</DIV>

<P>Aye mate - I can see why wandering into this quest blind would be scary, but like the other posters said, just click on the coffin thingy to get your harclave esque buff and, from then on, its tough to die.</P> <P>I managed it twice. First time I got the update and (because I didnt know about the buff) ran away from the 6 red con heroics - right into the 6 groups or so of yellow heroics that had spawned a moment later and aggroed the lot. At this point Im running round the hall in a state of blind panick shouting at the computer and trying to work out how I had stayed alive. Seeing more mobs ahead of me I decided to stand and take what was coming and the massed hordes had enough dps to take me down. About halfway through the fight I noticed that I was healing myself for 1200 ish with regularity, which was nice, and I turned my brain on.</P> <P>2nd time I died was perhaps in more common fashion, I failed miserably to jump the casm between the first 2 torches and the heroic mushrooms. Pancake flat necro. Its easier if you stack the boxes on the end of the planks.</P> <DIV>So mate we have all been there (or at least I have) but if you can get the torch update and click on the coffin then those red con heroic mobs become easy. If you stick to pulling single groups of heroics (my record is 4 groups of 6ish without dying by the way) then I would be astonished if your health went below 85%. Have fun <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Anyone else want to own up to not paying full attention to their quest journal / spell effects window the first time they did Harclave?</DIV>

Haha oh god yes, first time, well first two times (*blush*) I cleared all the way up to the altar, didn't notice it glowing after the final brazier, then decided to send my pet into the mushrooms. First time I didn't even realise they were heroic. Second time (yes there was a second time) I realised they were heroic and so tryed to tough it out but they splatted me. Then someone told me about clicking the ark. I did that, and woohoo! But.... I'd clicked the ark and someone had warned me about the orange con gnoll ghosts who spawn around the ark so being clever, *laugh*, I thought I'd hop down from the ledge and pull them at my leisure. What they failed to tell me was that room respawns too with a ton of undead, now I find it really hard to see the skeleton graphics against a rocky backdrop ( I play 3rd person view) so I didn't see them of course. Jumped way back into the room, aggroed all 4 groups plus the 2 heroics, and of course my pet was in amongst the orange gnolls too. There was way too much aggro and yep I died hehe 4th time lucky I finished it and haven't died since. But fun times figuring it out. I love the super buff, and usually go into Harclave at 89% xp and have generally levelled right after I finish <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Fatalis Necromancer Crushbone Server <div></div>

this thread rocks!! [Removed for Content] here is my input. kill first three gnolls, use invis to get to ark, get blessing then before fighting the popped orange mob, fall off ledge and fight up to the spore king, go back fight the parnges and then the room of skellies and continue to the end... <div></div>

<DIV>Why would you skip things just to come back and get them? You might as well just fight them as you come to them.  Harclave's will be much more fun once we get our PBAE's, better pets, and stuff..can't wait.  Right now all I can do is chain HO's on a single mob..seems like monks and stuff will have an easier time with this dungeon than us for now.</DIV>

<P>Well even then you don't have to use invis.  Just takes longer to get to the ark.</P> <P>All of the gnolls pre-ark clicking are solo even on difficult level to a necro.</P> <P>If I wasnt lazy and impatient, I wouldnt have to invis, it would just take me about another 30 mins or so longer to access the buff.</P>

Yeah but they fixed it so the ledge is no longer a sanctuary <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> but now you can pull from the ledges <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />  double bladed sword. <div></div>

<P>I'm confused about all this skipping around... I've done harclaves numerous times, with numerous classes.  As it is currently (and any mage class), here's what I do:</P> <P>- kill first gnoll you see.</P> <P>- cast a SoW totem and invis.</P> <P>- set up board and jump across chasm</P> <P>- click all fire pots while invis</P> <P>- build steps up to ark, click last two pots and then ark (still invis)</P> <P>- drop invis by casting an AoE (or 3, to get agro) on the orange mobs.</P> <P>- cast spells (or not.. go get a drink or watch tv if you want to) until all mobs are dead (or kill themselves on the auto-damage-shield that's cast on you, or your pet kills them)</P> <DIV>- proceed to next mobs and repeat</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>...the only time you'll ever drop below 85%-90% health is if you get more than one group of mobs on you at the same time, or you miss the second jump and take a header to the bottom (even then, you probably won't die, with red health and the group at the bottom beating on you).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Just remember that your PET doesn't have the harclave buffs, so don;t send him in to attack first and try not to let him get agro (cast a bunch of AoEs, or spam-heal the pet.. you'll get agro pretty quick).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<P>Since we are in there for experience/loot.....</P> <P>I don't use the invis and run to the ark method. I am in here to kill. The groups beforehand are very easy and the clusters are worth a ton of experience. Also tend to get quite a bit of loot on a run in here.</P> <P> </P> <P>Why skip anything in here if you are here for experience?</P>

Exactly, AHMENI actually prefer the middle difficulty. Its more exp than the low level one, but the highest difficulty takes FOREVER to kill each group! The middle one is faster kills and still great exp.I beleive they hacked the exp you get to pieces a while back. I could get a whole level doing the quest twice, now I'd have to do it 3-4 times to get a level. hehehe Still good stuff!Oh and the chest drops RULE!

<P>Yeah, the total amount of exp from doing Harclave's was scaled back several patches ago and is scaled, based on your level.</P> <P>- at lvl 20ish, I get roughly 40% exp</P> <P>- at 30ish, 30%</P> <P>- at 40ish, 20% (I hadn't tested this one recently, but I have a lvl 37 I can take through to check)</P> <P>...so ~10% (if you'd killed the other 15-16 groups you skipped) would sound about right for being level 49.</P> <DIV>It's a great place to make a few coins and cap off a level if you are solo and/or class-impared for normal soloing <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>
