Pretty much every buff self or pet uses conc points now.

Magi shielding uses 3 so you can no longer have that up with every pet buff which makes no sense.

These changes go in as they are on test, and I think it's pretty much a done deal for my necro. Things are hard enough for us, we don't need the added stress of keeping ourselves buffed, plus the lifeline that is our pet buffed, with only 5 concetration points.

I've gutted it out, been not wanted in alot of groups, and had the same problems we are all complaining about in my first 35 levels or so, gotten myself to 50, and now they want to nerf the hell out of me? Nerfs are what drove my wife and I from DAoC, and they will drive us from this game as well.

Why can't game companies learn that nerfing the crap out of classes, especially classes that actually need some help and love, will not endear you to the customers? The necro shouldn't have to worry about buffing himself and his pet with the same concetration points that the none pet classes have. Why have pet specific buffs as well as group buffs if you aren't going to be able to use them all? As for Magis Shielding using 3 concetration points, talk about completely [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot]. As it stands now, I wear a [Removed for Content] paper sack for armor, without that shielding spell, it's one shot death city for me. As it stands, at 50th lvl, the mobs I hunt will kill me in 2 blows fairly easily. And now SOE wants to make it even easier for the mobs to kill me? I'll be most happy to give up the shielding spell so long as you make my lifetaps effective enough to compensate.

Oh well, I guess I am starting to see the nerf bat swinging, and frankly, I just won't stick around for the pain. If SOE wants to start crapping all over the class I chose to play, then I guess it's time to find another game to go to.

It's nice to get lifetap at level 20. Yeah! Just wish feign dead gets changed to be like EQ1. Throw in an undead only slow spell, I'd be one happy necromancer...

Lodor wrote:
Pretty much every buff self or pet uses conc points now.

Magi shielding uses 3 so you can no longer have that up with every pet buff which makes no sense.

*sigh* That's just insane. So now having Magi Shield and a pet buff up leaves room for only either of Favor or Mark line? So much for ever using Unliving Eyes just for utility, since putting it up would require dropping the pet or group buff -- since not using Magi Shield is really not an option. Most of the other necro-affecting changes seem alright, but the concentration changes seem utterly ridiculous. I for one will be very disappointed if they go in as such. (edit: Unliving Eyes, not Eyes of the Dead
Message Edited by Nephwrack on 08-05-2005 02:02 PM

Remember guys we are not really comparing with ourselves as we stand at the moment. We will be comparing ourselves with all other classes post patch. It is all about desirability. As long as we have a good place amongst other classes I am happy with whatever. Lots of changes across the board here. Concentration slot changes do sound irritating though. As long as its made so it really is situational what you want to use. There are a few changes which look like they will make me feel more like a necromancer.

Summoned pets cast their spells and arts at the same quality level as the spell that summoned them. For example, and Adept I version of a pet will cast its spells at Adept I quality.

Woot!! That could mean huge things for the scout/warlock pets....And I love the added lifetap. Scared about the armor/buffs though =/ We already couldn't take a hit.... Actually out of those notes, I'm most excited about the long-duration charm spell that enchanters will get lol If it actually works well, I might have to play around with my illusionist again heh EDIT: [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot]...the more I read about the Illusionist changes, the more depressed I get....necro changes on the other hand do actually seem pretty good overall

Message Edited by Urbannaja on 08-05-2005 06:46 PM

I think most of the changes we have coming sound interesting at the very least. It sounds like we are going to have to think when making buff choices and understand the mobs we will be facing. Trial and error will be part of it. To me I like the direction they are taking us from what I have read so far.

It obviouslly will be important for us to have our AGI up as high as possible and keep the mobs focused on the pet. You also must remember that the mobs are getting rebalanced as well.

I played my 50 necro on test, and after a couple duels and random green con mob slaughtering in lavastorm, I can tell you that we did not get nerfed. I think our dps went up A TON, and we still have the ability to stay near full mana.

I'm actually liking the combat changes.

Hmm I'm starting to feel less, and less like a actual necro, more like a necling, U know the ones that get killed while trying to become a full fledged necro. First, I dont command any army of undead, so I must be like an apprentice since I can only command one pet, not only that I don't command any fear like a necro should. Also I dont posses any skill that looks like a liche when I get higher level, I look like a clear coted skeleton with some green crap.

All seriousness, I envisioned a whole different character when I rolled a Necro, I'm in that part of being a necro, where I really am hating myself, (lvl 23) I get turned down for groups based on god only knows what, so since alot of my time has been soloing, and my pet has no taunt ability, I might just as well turn into my pets life battery and he could play the game, because I'm not getting much action. If these changes do go through, I'll try them before I pass judgement, but I hope they reallly think hard about the concentration bit, or perhaps they could have us able to summon one pet, and no concentration points used, since we are supposed to be the commander of the dead, not command one dead, and one utility. I have loved necro's since I played warhammer, and I envisioned a endgame Nagash for myself, but I'm thinking lately that when I get endgame with my necro, he will be weaksauce compared to His Liche-ness. Not even on Heinrichs level, more like his young cousin, the one armed freak in the corner. If your going to nerf my concentrations, give my pet a taunt, so I dont pull aggro off of him in casting 2 spells

hehe you should have seen my necro in diabloII

Now that was commanding an ARMY of undead. Everyone was running away from me cuz they were afraid of getting lagged
