In your situation i'd pick the dogs, easy choice. you need that dps

Also keep in mind there will be a respec coming soon with the revamp as well, so you could change later on.

I chose the warlock pet upgrade for lvl 30 lol. I wasn't sure how it would do but it's actually good for when I group Out dps's the old warlock pet for grouping and outdamages the UA at the moment too.

What i look for with the training spells is what will help most in the end. Try to get something that dosn't upgrade in a few lvls. So if you are between the pack of dogs and the warlock go with the dogs. But these spells could be all different when they make the combat changes go live.

I chose the dogs with the idea of respecing at 40 or 42. The dogs work pretty good.

Dayok

Lvl 34 Necromancer

I took the Warlock pet and do not regret it. Does some nice damage. I did not want the dogs considering their recast times.

Oddly enough, I took the pet buff. It made my Fallen Hero very strong and he tended to hold arggo much better. I got rats upgrade(adpt 3) later and they out DPS dogs from what I have seen. I did however second guess myself several times but in retrospect I feel I made the right decision. I used pet buff on FH till 33 or so and then flipped to using UA till Rotting Thrall. When you approch it realisictly, I used the pet to keep the mob off of me, With the HP's and DPS of FH he could hold the mob as I DoTed him to death. Too much too fast will not give you a desired result. From what I have heard the warlock pet doesn't have alot of HP's and can't hold arggo near as well as FH, but matches his DPS. I never played both so I personally can't compare, but have seen it in action. For me the choice was clear, make FH and UA stronger. I will admit we are weak compared to other classes in the DPS dept from 30 to 35, with or without dogs.

Rusttin Blackheart

41st Necromancer

Mistmoore

Just to add my two cp in here...

I picked the dogs and have never looked back. Seriously nice upgrade for DPS and they really come in handy when somebody decides to pull a heroic before the group is actually ready.

And besides... for the whole necro ambience, you have to love 3 rotting hounds charging a mob, hehe.

i too choose the pack of rotting hounds. not only are they really good dps but they hands down are totally cool to look at. Since most necros i see around took the worlock pet upgrade nobody i regularly group with had ever seen them and lets just say that jaws are hitting the floor when someone sees me unleash the hounds at a target for the first time.

How does the hounds work? Are they a pet. or just a spell? :smileyindifferent: And whats the recast time

The hounds are a swarm pet like the swarm of rats (lvl23) and plague of rats(lvl37) spell line.

It is a spell that can be cast every 2 minutes and it will summon 2 packhounds and 1 brutehound for the duration of one fight, or 3 minutes, whichever is shorter.

They are very good for those long fights in groups, to use while kiting, and for just plain old extra DPS. I havent looked at my parses in awhile, but I think the dogs usually put out about 40-50 dps together, which is very nice.

<EDIT - I forgot to add, that like the rats line of spells, they can be killed, so keep them behind the MoB you are fighting to avoid barrages etc>

Message Edited by Eirgorn on 07-28-2005 05:21 AM

I took the Hounds too and they are really nice dps, they are VERY nice to kill heroics in small or duo grps. It summons 3 decayed flesh docs, one big dog (he's big really) and two smaller dogs. The big dog is even con lvl, the other two smaller dogs are one level below caster. This is a very cool spell lorewise too, I mean whats more necro like then sending out 3 hellhounds on a target hey -) When I cast these baby's I see the target mob losing hp rapidly! With the 34 warlock pet upgrade we get anyway, the hounds are a no brainer. Nivak
