<DIV>Pretty much sums it up. I am fast approaching this spell and am wondering if this spell brings back fear kiting as in EQ1 days. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks.</DIV>

Not in the least bit. Fear kiting is a thing of the past. This spell fears the enemy for like 10 seconds and if it gets touched, he's coming charging full tilt at you. <div></div>

Spell lasts 12 seconds and depending on how upgraded you have it after a certain amount of damage the spell will drop early.

<DIV>Actually useful as a stun. If you tank/solo with your pet, taking on the hardest stuff you can, casting all your stuns is essential damage mitigation (it gives mend bones/soothe servant time to catch up to the damage being dealt). Terror can help with this; make sure to cast it when you don't have many (if any) dots on a target. Careful about calling pet off the mob though, while this may make terror last longer, its also considered a "break" in melee contact, which may cause agro to shift to you - so just let pet bang away, hoping terror lasts as long as it can. It has a fast recycle time which makes it exceptionally useful for damage mitigation, esecially on lvl 35+ opponents where petrify is obsolete.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>A recent combo trick i learned / created. Cast terror on the mob your pet isn't attacking to get maximum effect. Now usually the mob comes back angry at you, and you then have problems b/c he's hitting you and not the pet. You could root the feared mob out of combat, but as you probably know this also focuses the mobs agro all on you and its very difficult to break root agro, and of course root could break during combat, in which case your gonna get hit. So instead of rooting, I cast wow/bol taunts while the mob is feared, and when fear expires, the mob runs back to hit the pet. It only gets in a few hits before I have it feared again (provided no resist).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

No fear kiting but once you play with this spell you will see how useful it can be. It's benefit is in its reasonably quick casting. It gives you breathing space to root/stun etc I use it a fair bit solo. <div></div>

It is a very situational spell.</P> <P>If I am fighting multiple mobs I will root one. If the root wears off before I am ready, or I get an add, Terror if it holds, makes the mob move away from me, and then I will either root again if the mobs my pet are on are not close to dead, or just wait for it to wear off and have my pet engage.</P> <P>It is not a kiting tool by any means. It is along the lines or roots and stuns for crowd control.</P>

<P>Would terror be a useful master?</P> <P>I didn't think so initially. Now that you say it holds until a certain amount of damage (and that damage scales with spell circle), I am not so sure.</P> <P>There happens to be one for sale is why I ask <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P> <P>Greatscott</P>

<P>I would guess no.</P> <P>Unless it allows you to use it on higher level mobs, it is probably not worth the coin to dump on it since there are many more usefull spells to get upgraded first.</P> <P>I got the adept 1 and did not see any difference in the description from app1-app4-adept3. (disclaimer - I play 2-3 toons regularly so my memory may be bad on that detail but I am fairly sure there was no text upgrade noticable on the upgrades of this spell.)</P>
