My daughter is a lvl25 necro and paid a lot of gold for this staff (base damage listed as 15-44). The only skills she has are for Crushing (84/84) and piercing (30/84). I sat with her and watched while she maxed her crushing on grey mobs. Was hitting them all of the time for damage. Then i told her to switch to green/blue mobs. Here it was "you try to crush but miss" almost all of the time with rare "you try to crush, but blabla parried it" thrown in. The staff procs though. I believe a max crushing skill of 84 is about right for a lvl 17 person. What has gone wrong or what are we missing here? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks. <div></div>

Casters aren't meant to really be meleeing, so our weapon skills lag way behind normal skill lvls. So at the skill lvls she has (and hers sound right) mobs her lvl won't be very easy to hit. Though she *can* melee for a little extra damage, the damage won't be much (as you found out) and it places her within melee/ barrage range of the mob. So, I've found it much more useful to simply get a weapon that gives the most possible +int and/or +power as those are the two stats that are of most use to a caster. Also, if you can afford one, the imbued wands offer an excellent power-free nuke along with some great stats. Hope that helps.... <div></div>

I stopped trying to hit stuff after lvl 14.  I remember playing the original EQ as a necro and buying proc weapons.  It eventually turned in to a joke "Place some plat on when he hits.  If you guess right and it procs, you win the jackpot".
