<DIV>Hey guys I bought a hex doll yesterday and it is grey to me.  I want to learn to aggro kite and I have read all the other message boards about how to get it done... but it doesnt work right.  I am currently level 41 with the snare from level 40.  My hex doll always gets resisted  ... is this because the doll is grey to me?  If it is can someone tell me which doll I should purchase that would stick and allow me to kite.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>From my basic understanding</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>- Stack both hex doll and level 40 snare</DIV> <DIV>- Keep aggro with dots or nukes (have imbued wand)</DIV> <DIV>- Send pet in about 80 percent and just run around</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>**If combat reduces speed by 30 percent, and stacking those two snares only makes the mob about 35 percent snared... i dont see that this would actually work very well... or do you just have to have a huge area?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>PIT CHAMPION</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>- I have tried to solo the pit champion many times.  I can get him to 20 percent by using my pet and chain healilng... of course I dont have my adept1 heals yet... so maybe that will make a difference..</DIV> <DIV>- How else is everyone soloing him?  I know its possible to kite him but abviously I cant kite (see above).  Is there any other way I am not thinking about at level 41?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>-  Thanks for everyones help!</DIV>

<P>Yes it is because the doll is grey to you.</P> <P>I can't remember the name of the T5 doll but it would be orange to you and have +12 agility on it.</P>

The +12 is the rare hex doll. you dont need to invest in the rare, the regular +7 agi one will work just fine for the snare.

I got owned the first time when I got aggro off my pet.  The second time, I pet tanked him with my thrall and managed aggro a little better while chain healing and warding him. <div></div>

<DIV>Keep in mind that most all of the spells listed are adept 3/master I and I am 50, so it may not work as well for you, but here is the idea (by the way, I have killed the very difficult champ several times):</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>- After the round of 3 mobs, you know that the champ is next.  So, I steal life from my pet using Devour Health (M1) and Essence Shift (A3), then summon a new pet so that they are at full power.  I then use 5 buffs on him and put my Grisley Steele (M1) ward on him.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>- I keep a 3rd hotbar open just with icons for my imbued wand (only use it for solo kiting mobs), linen doll of STR (slows attack speed by 6-10%), and linen AGI doll (slows the mob by 20%).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>- When the mob comes out, I start casting the STR doll without pulling, and as I am 1/2 done with the cast, I send my pet for aggro.  The doll lands, then I stun him with Convulse (M1) and begin casting the AGI doll.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>- Next, I use my two heals - Soothe Servant (A3) and Necrotic Mending (M1), then use Eternal Bindings (A3).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>- Now that he is debuffed and rooted with my pet being able to keep a good amount of aggro, I then cast the Clinging Stench to slow him now down by 40%, Accursed Cloud (A3) for heals, Eternal Bindings again, Wicked Coil (M1), Plague of Rats (M1 - this is just about where aggro is going to start to turn on me), Eternal Bindings, Siphon Life (M1), Clinging Stench again, and, time permitting, Bludgeoning Earth (A3) and Swarm of Bats (A3).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>- Here is where the fun begins.  I use my JBoots when soloing for the run speed, especially for kiting reasons.  Making wide circles all the way around the arena, I cast my wand via the hotbar as much as it will go, stopping only to cast Siphon Life (at master 1, does 499-611 damage and heals for 263 - he usually hits me for 1-200, so I am doing more damage and healing for more than it costs to stop).  He will drop pretty quickly from here.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Basically, the idea is that you want to have as many DoTs and especially your rats and pet on him, chasing him, as he is chasing you.  You won't be able to do much casting outside of the wand, so you gotta let "time" kill him.  The other reason to cast the rats so late is that he has an AE attack that can sometimes kill them directly, so you want to get aggro right after you cast them so that he is running (therefore, not AEing) and they are behind him.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Finally, as for your doll, you are going to need to upgrade to linen.  I only started using dolls after I was already 50, especially for their effects.  Having linen (or whatever is the max for >T5 necs) will ensure the best chance of landing the deuffs.  Hope this helps!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>/Ygg.</DIV>

<DIV>The less hp mob has it will move slower so I would recommend not to kite pit champion too soon, your pe ad3 can tank it preaty well np, just keep ward up, cast a dot heal on pet before inc, keep fade inv up on pet cause it procs a nuke when it fades + minor heal, good for agro......cast coil dot to debuff str and agil, you will notice mob will do little dam on pet..... aroun 10 pct hp on mob you might end finnaly gettign agro, I guess yu kept +12 agil doll hex on it and then do talemania or ravenous,... kit the poor guy.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Remember that on hardest lv the champion(lv56 mob vs  lv50 me) nukes a lot while you kite it and also praticaly complete heal it self twice, so dont kite it too soon, try to keep pet tanking as long as possible.Well dont forget to cast rats from behind at the beginning, keep coil up on named and all cake.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Allowen</DIV> <DIV>lv 50 necro</DIV>

<P>Also remember if you use the lvl 10 training option, Telaminas Pulsating Feedback, plus the lvl 40 training option, plus the hex doll, mobs are so snared they can barely move. I level'd from 46 - 50 very quickly using this technique on tundra terrors and other 49 - 50^^ mobs in EF (just watch out for tundra jack and iceberg)</P>

<DIV>Good post Abaz.  Only thing I'd like to mention though since I've seen it posted in a couple different threads in this forum is that jboots have no effect in combat.  All movement speed buffs are suspended when locked in combat.  It doesn't matter if you are using jboots or a spirit steed, it won't help any when kiting. </DIV>

<DIV>Still attempting to beat the pit champ on "VERY HARD" at lvl 41.   Pit Champ is lvl 48 mob on very hard (at lvl 41), and pretty much everything i trhow at him has about a 90% resist rate.  Moreover he agros by about the second spell cast on him cause pet is landing virtually no hits.  Tried snare kiting but he aggressively snares and roots.  Made it twice, through dumb luck, to the point where he was oom, but was unfortunate enough both times that that was the exact moment he went for me.  (Pet also goes oom about that time, and loses some ability to generate agro through special attacks...but then again, he won't be special attacking either if i can hang in there longer).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Could use some insights on either (1) how to snare kite him without him snaring / nuking me to death, or (2) any tricks that will keep him agro on pet a lil while longer to beat him in the tanking game (think i'm using all the tricks, but i'm just about 1 trick short of winning).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

I am a lvl 41 Necro now, the Pitt boss is not too difficult to kill.  So far, I think I am the only one in my guild to kill the Champion.  What I learned after many deaths is to not draw agro too soon.  Slow kill is better.  I send the pet with ward, send in dogs, use one debuff and clinging stench.  Cast pet heal dot as needed and keep the debuff and stench running all the time.  You will get agro at about 15%.  Stand and suck it up.  Recast stench and run.  between the snare, the pet, and the dogs, the Champion doesn't stand a chance.  I have all Adept 1 spells except for the Adept 3 pet heal. <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Other than the clickable stone to the Den (very nice way to get to TS btw), he has dropped the Earring of the Champion both times I have killed him.  Sadly, I have no use for the earring, but on the positive side...it sells to a vendor for over 3gp.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I died several times using regular kill strategies...send pet, send dogs, debuff, dot like crazy.  I drew agro too fast and could not run enough.  I have the hex dolls, and the rods, and the stench, but the arena area is too small to kite for a long period of time.  The champion does not run once you get to the narrow point and smacks you when you turn the corner.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now if I could just figure out what to do with 6 flaming pigs heads.  LOL</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Electri Caldiva</DIV> <DIV>41 Necromancer</DIV> <DIV>Butcherblock</DIV>

You are correct.  I have only done the normal kill.  I'll try the others.  After all, you aren't dying..you aren't trying.  LOL

<P>I haven't been able to do the very difficult setting either.  I'm only 35, but the normal and difficult have been easy, but any time I face a red mob, I'm dead because I can't get any spells to land and he loses interest on my pet very quickly.  On difficult, I can pet tank him until he's dead.  On Very difficult he moves off of my pet after maybe 10 seconds.  Maybe if I had the Adept III UA (I have Adept I) I would fare better.  I'm assuming I'm gaining aggro so quickly because my pet is missing constantly thus not generating aggro.  So, when I throw Mend Bones on him, I pull aggro.</P> <P>Heck, I had trouble with the difficult setting of Hardclave because I had 2 different groups of reds to fight.  The first set of gnolls that spawn up by the ark were red.  I barely survived that one because none of my spells were landing.  They spawned as 41's.  Then the guy and his 2 guards next to the throne were red as well.  That wasn't as close because they're were only 3 of them instead of 6.</P> <P>I would think if you had the adpet III or Master I version of Rotting Thrall you may stand a chance.</P>

Fully buff self and pet.  Back as far away as you can. 2. Send in pet, let the pet get beat down hard.  While this is happening use hex doll for Hex of Chaos (debuff).  This debuff may not be useful for this fight, but it's better than standing around <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> 3. When the pet is at 20% use hex doll for Hex of Shadows (movement debuff). 4. When pet is about to die, cast Convulse.  While it's stunned, cast a new pet.  It should just be coming out as the stun breaks, so you won't get to buff it yet, but that's OK.  The champion will move toward you slowed during this time. 5. Run to the other end of the arena, hitting the Hex of Shadows again. 6. Repeat, back and forth like a cricket runner, renewing HoS and blasting it with a wand.  Remember that dolls and wands cast while you're moving. You will takes some beat down because it's a small arena, so you may want to renew Grisly Stele at some point, and lifetap occasionally.  You can buff the pet on as you run around with a quick pause. Eventually the pet will reacquire aggro, but by then the PC will be pretty low and you can just finish him off. Took about 6 minutes total time, IIRC. <div></div>

<P>Any reason you are trying to kite?  Here's how I beat him every time without getting hit.</P> <P> </P> <P>1. Fully buff pet and get me + pet to full life/power</P> <P>2.  Ward pet</P> <P>3. Send pet after champion while casting convulse to stun him.</P> <P>3.  Let pet beat on him while warding pet and stunning champion as often as possible.</P> <P>4.  After a bit of beating I cast rats and stench of the grave and then go back to stunning/warding and healing when needed (below 50ish health).</P> <P> </P> <P>By doing this I can keep the champion on my pet and I generally never get touched in the fight.</P>
