<DIV> For sure even at level 50 Everquest 2 necros are nothing like EQ1 necros. The pets and heals are weak, and the dots are laughable! I guess I am going to have to wait for level 50 to 60 to see if we get any improvements. If it wasent for aggro kiting I would have never made 50.</DIV>

Same name, different game.  Different Necromancer.    If you're disappointed your pet can't just easily tank a group mob then, well...    I think you're missing the point a bit tbh. <div></div>

Hundreds of years later. In my opinion Necromancer should be more powerful than in EQ1. What happened all the Necromancers lose power in a few hundred years?</DIV>

I'm torn at this.  I kind of agree but then you mustn't compare  eq1 class to eq2 class all the time.  You only end up being disappointed, based largely on nostalgia.   Compare Necro to other Mage classes in eq2.  We are doing ok with the exception of warlock. If the combat changes improve our DPS pets and give us DOT stacking I will be very happy with my necro. Character development is so different in this game.  I do take your point about the game lore but the fact remains the eq1 necro is dead really (no pun intended <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> ).   I found this disappointing in my 20's(levels) but I've moved on now and accept the quirkiness that distinguished the eq1 necro from the rest is just not part of the vision for eq2.  We remain tied to our summoner roots. In the old norrath Uan wouldn't have been seen dead ( <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> ) learning his arcane science from the city of Freeport! The big nerfs then subsequent fixes to necro's in eq1 made them a very misunderstood class and for a long while they seemed balanced for soloing.  Soloing being something that all classes can achieve in this game.  Strictly speaking, nobody is really supposed to be easily taking down group/heroic encounters(something which didn't technically exist in eq1).  We can do it though by kiting as the OP stated. I guess you can discuss thoughts about lore from one age to the next.  The bottom line is though, that mechanically things are just far removed from the raw game that is eq1.  <div></div>

<DIV>Yeah, I know it's been said a million times, but EQ2 is not just EQ1 with better graphics.  Game mechanics have changed so much and such a huge effort has gone into removing possibilities for class envy that we're probably never going to see Necros "bust out" and be the gods that we were in EQ1.  It sucks at times (especially for the Necros who played pre-Kunark all the way up to GoD and beyond), but I kind of think the general lack of disparity between the sub-classes is probably a good thing.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Just try to enjoy your Necro for what he/she is and may someday become. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>
