<DIV>Im only 34, and most of the time i solo or group with some friends whom ive known since EQ1.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Im at a crossroads, i enjoy my necromancer alot, however i dont want to be a solo class or even perceived to be a solo class. I love grouping, and i dont want to spend hours lfg to get one. From the spell lists it seems necros are the only class which has wipe recovery due to FD and rez, that makes me hopeful that things will get better.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So im asking high lvl necros 40-50 whether grouping gets better later?  Also does sony plan to fix the stacking issues on our dots when grouped with fellow necros? </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks </DIV>

I am in sorta the same boat as you being a level 34 necro.  One thing I can say is that it's starting to get better for me.  It really comes down to stop waiting for somebody to invite you and invite others to team with you.  We aren't priests or tanks so we aren't very high on the priority list, but you can still have a very good group without those two classes.  Very good example of this is me using my pet to pull and tank while 4 other wizards killed the mobs before I could even get off one 4 second cast.  People have the wrong ideas when trying to form a group and leave when it may take 5 minutes to form the group or when they don't see a healer or tank in the group.  Just send people tells before you invite them and have a gameplan on what's going to be accomplished.  And for those times when there are no tanks in your group, just use your pet.

As has been stated, starting your own group is a wise choice. Infact just inviting one person and saying "Team of two looking for more" will draw people out of the woodwork in a hurry. Once you get a good team going take the time to school them on how good necro DPS can be, as once you hit 35 and get ghastly stench it spikes up a LOT. Good HO and DoT/debuff timing will yield very nice damage, on par with a decent wizard or warlock. The upcoming combat changes will boost our output even higher. Pull aggro a few times from a tank who thinks necros are bad DPS and they will quickly learn the power you bring to the table. The next few levels of your progression will spike your damage output considerably, as you get Ghastly Stench and Rotting Thrall.  Remember, if you really show your power in a team, behave well, and just generally act like a nice guy, there is a good chance people will /friend you and ask you for a team in the future. I've done this with my Brusier many times after teaching a mouthy team member how well Brawlers can tank, and in doing so I've made a nice little ring of friends that I can call on for groups, or call on me to MT. Just keep a positive attitude, Necros can throw down some killer DPS, as well as having solid utility and group buffs. Teach others of your power, and you will build a reputation, guarantee it. Also on the subject of multi necro stacking issues, there was an official statement claiming it will indeed be fixed in the near future, and I'm assuming thats part of the combat revamp. Hope I helped, Stro <div></div>

<DIV>I am a lvl 47 necro now and never spend more then a few minutes waiting for a group any more.  I feel you pain however, it was not until 41-42 that the tides turned.  At that point necros are not only great util classes to have in the group (fear+root, never ending power, good buffs/debuffs) they are the 2nd best DPS after a warlock.  I would argue they are better over all then warlocks since they do not generate anywhere near the agro with thier dots+pet.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Stick with it-- you will be glad and so will those friends that youalways group with.  Learn to pull mobs half way across a zone, through all kinds of other mobs to a safe spot with your pet and you will be the life of the party!  My best exp came from a trio of a Inq and a Swash woulding over yellow group mobs (pull with pet and let him tank until someone pulls agro, stun when you need to, and ward who ever gets agro).</DIV>

<DIV>I completely agree you you. Being a 39.5 Necro I find my self in the same boat. I have been told it gets better later. I hope so. I can easily spend a hour LFG,and that may take traveling to 3 zones first. I too find it very frustrating since I only play a couple hours a day at the max. I hope it does get better, I can solo but it is somewhat slow going and very little xp. I rolled a inq and a grd to help ease my downtime. If I can't get a group i just log one of them on. The only time I play them is if I can't get a grp with my Necro. They are both in there mid-20's in less than a month..lol. I will say SP has helped. Formed groups are desprate enough to grab anyone LFG lately because everyone is doing Splitpaw. Also SP is easier to find a group b/c there are so many groups forming to do it. All i am saying is don't feel alone<img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Rusttin Blackheart</DIV> <DIV>39 Necromancer</DIV> <DIV>Mistmoore</DIV>

<P>I'm only 36, and I tend to solo a lot.  Its my preference when I know I have little playtime and/or when I know I will have to go AFK a lot.</P> <P>But, we are good in groups, and should be appreciated.</P> <P>If you have the lvl 30 doggies, cast them on the big targets, and dont be shy casting them on every 2nd or 3rd mob if there are no big targets.  It's a nice, easily visible spell, and helps people notice your DPS.</P> <P>We will never pass wizard/warlocks for pure DPS though.  Thats ok, I have a disposable pet who can tank adds pretty darn well, and with the doggies, I can boost my DPS on the hard fights.   And I always have lots of mana.  (make sure the group is never waiting on you for mana -- as a necro you should have more options to get mana back fast)</P> <P>Overall, you are going to have to overcome some of the "necros are solo" class mentality some ppl have.</P> <P>Start with friends, especially any healers.   It's obvious, but adding a necro to a 2-man healer/tank group will make them kill a lot faster.  And once all the tanks/healers on the server love you, you should get lots of groups!</P> <P> </P> <P> </P>

Currently I am a level 47 necromancer nearing 48, the group situation at least on my server is pretty bad at the moment. However me and a brusier friend have been duoing  Heroics in Everfrost since level 44 found that to be better exp and maybe even faster then putting a group together.. I will admit though it does get kind of boring after awhile I miss the contact that group brings. Also keep in mind that I currently do not have a guild nor do I have over 10 people on my friends list so you could say I'm some what of a loner in terms of friends. Anyway's back to the question at hand, When I go LFG *not even sure why I do anymore* it averages out to be about an hour before I get a tell from someone. As for the DoT Stacking issues, I really have no idea on that. I am hoping it is fixed soon *Hard to find a guild when most of the good ones already have a necro.. why would they need another if the dots don't stack lol*, however since they upgraded the Rotting Thrall I'm having a blast again now.<div></div>

<DIV>It doesn't get better on my server, I'm afraid.  From my early twenties until fifty, anytime my necro friend wasn't online to duo with I'd do a /who all mage LFG (only folks I can conceivably get better xp with) and choose from there.  Necro's were always the most common mage LFG.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>There are many possible reasons why this the case.  I'm on crushbone so as cheezy as it may sound, maybe there's a high number of necro's on my server due to "bone" being in the server name?  LOL.  But, really, according to SoE your main contribution to a group is dps; and, well, there are a couple classes that do that better.  As someone stated above, it's not until the 40s that necro's move up in the dps chart -- and, still, not #1 in parsings.  Another reason is that tanks often have a hard time targetting mobs when summoners are grouped with them (I hear the complaint often.)  There are other pet issues that annoy groups as well; though I'm not sure if that's just from folks that don't know how to control them or higher level bugs (they wander off, keep combat engaged often, etc).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As already said, if you prefer grouping, you need to at least make friends with several priests so you can start groups with them.  If duo'ing is good, necro dots will stack after revamp so that would be a good choice to partner with, or a wizard or warlock -- I find duo'ing is more challenging and rewarding than full groups.  Heck, have a consistent full out mage group -- I did that a couple times and it was a riot.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If you like your class, don't give up.  Upcoming changes may make necro's more desireable in groups than they currently are; and even if not, that's what friends are for -- to hang and play with.</DIV>

I've never really had a problem finding groups, but I have alot of friends both in and out of guild. As I get closer to 50, I find myself soloing more, not because of not gettin groups but because most groups don't last very long. I sometimes get lucky with a good group formed by friends who invite me along. But usually I'm either soloing, finishing up Heritage Quests, or helping friends and guildies with stuff I get no exp for hehe.
