Summoner (Level 10)* Gimble's Shocking Burst - An advanced form of Lightning Burst. As a bonus to Lightning Burst it has a faster casting time and interrupts casting.* Sonius' Boon of the Magus - An advanced form of Gift of the Magi. As a bonus to Gift of the Magi it also increases maximum hit points.* Telamina's Pulsating Feedback - An advanced form of Static Pulse. As a bonus to Static Pulse it reduces the target's movement speed.* Camtur's Energizing Aura - An advanced form of Magi's Shielding. As a bonus to Magi's Shielding it increases the summoner's minion's maximum health and arcane mitigation.Which of these spells is best for an up and coming Summoner/Necromancer. I've read Telamina's Pulsating Feedback is great for kiting monsters. Gimble's and Camtur's also seem apealing.

<DIV>My vote is for Telamina's, its great for the snare component as well as a little bit of extra dot damage.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I chose Camtur's my first go around, and it was broken and didnt do a think due to stacking issues or something.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Gimble's seems nice due to the interrupt, but Im unsure of the damage it deals at higher levels.  I assume it shares a timer with lighting burst and dust blast, so it seems the main selling point would be the fast cast interrupt.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Im currently still in the Telamina's camp though, at least until someone can post information of the others being useful.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Eirgorn</DIV>

<P>An easy choice if you want to kite mobs (monsters)</P> <P>Take the damage over time spell (DoT). I think it reduces the targets movement by 15% or there abouts, and combined with another snare that you will get later on - as well as a hex doll - lets you really slow down the movement speed of mobs.</P> <P>Not sure if you are new to the game or if I'm trying to teach my grandmother to suck eggs but the basic idea is that you have 2 or 3 of these movement reducing spells (snares) which you cast on a mob, along with your pet and some damage over time spells. Then as its movement is reduced you can run away a bit and cast / refresh some spells while it catches up to you. Keep doing this for a while and eventually the mob will die without ever (hopefully) getting near you. This is called Kiting and is a good way of killing single mobs that you would not normally be able to handle. I took the snare at lvl 10 and am still using it at lvl 30, and dont plan to stop using it any time soon.</P> <DIV>hope this helps</DIV>

<P>I took Gimble's, and really liked it.  With the upcoming respec though, I might change to the dot/snare for the kiting possibility.  </P> <P>Gimble's is a great spell for starting or finishing a HO.  Casting time is about 1 sec and it lands almost every time with no resists.  At level 41, it only does between 55 and 65 damage, but I still have it on my spellbar.  My favorite spell combo is HO, Gimble's, then a master strike for about 800 total damage in less than 4 secs.  Using Pestilence Blast, the HO takes about 6 secs total, which means more chances for interrupts and having to wait.  Also, at level 10, it will be your best nuke for a while.  </P> <P>The dot/snare choice will be more useful later on when / if you decide to kite mobs.  However, you really won't need or be able to kite anything until at least level 30 or so when you get your best dot, the dogs (lvl 30 training option).  </P> <P>That's my 2cp.  Your results and preferences may vary.   </P>

<P>Like Subpeel said, Telamina's is a godsend for kiting, if you are into that sort of thing.  Personally, I am.  Telamina's is actually a 28% snare, I believe, and when stacked with the lvl 40 training snare Raveus' Clinging stench, another 28% snare with a nice dot, and a hex doll which I believe are random 22-27% snare....the mob is literally crawling after you.  </P> <P>In my 30's I was kiting some with just the hex doll and the imbued wand, and let me tell you it takes awhile to kill those ^^ mobs.  When I hit 40 I got Raveus' and that helped some, especially with the extra dot damage, but when I /respec'd a level or so ago and go Telamina's to boot, kiting became really fun and very worthwhile.  With all three snares stacked, you have plenty of time to complete HOs and stack all sorts of other dots on the target.  And if one of the snares gets resisted, it is easy to cast the hex on the run and follow with the 1 sec cast time Telamina's and that will give you the lead you need to get off the 2 sec cast time Raveus.</P> <P>Im having a blast.</P> <P>Eirgorn</P> <P> </P>

How well does Camtur's work at higher level ? Does the amount of health added scale with higher levels ?

I have not looked.  I am at work so i cannot check it but when I get home I will check for you.  Keep in mind I am lvl 32 so not fully lvl 50 <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />.  I guess I should checked sooner lol <div></div>

I ended up checking it out and I have a screenie at home.  It does increase as you level and has about +3-4 bonus over the shielding spell.  Plus it also gives magic resist buffs to your pet.  <div></div>

I went with Telamina's Pulsating Feedback. Already used it to kite Lady Darkblade in the Freeport sewers.

<DIV>I'm surprised there is anyone advocating something besides telamina.  This spell gives you the option of taking on much higher level ^^ mobs then you could otherwise.  Many Named/heroic ^^ are much faster than other mobs.  You (ok well at least I :smileyhappy) can't safely kite them with just a hex doll and the 40 training option (ghastly stench upgrade).  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Adding the snare from telamina slows them down to a crawl and gives you the breathing space to handle a snare resist and stack some serious dots.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If you think you are going to want to do bigger mobs solo, then you really need telamina.  For example, at 41 with telamina I can do the foomby heritage quest solo (which requires you to kill a 37^^--chomper and a 40^^ at the end).  No way would I have a prayer without telamina.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I guess if you never need/want the option to take on some of these guys you can pass on this spell.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Greatscott</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>PS telamina has a very low resist rate for some reason.  It doesn't last that long but for something that grey it sticks almost every time <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />  GS</DIV><p>Message Edited by gr8scott on <span class=date_text>07-01-2005</span> <span class=time_text>02:55 PM</span>

If you have Jboots or Legendary Jboots, or even a spirit totem, you can easily solo with just a hex doll.  I do.

<DIV>Awhile ago, when I was about 34-35 I solod Chomper with only the hex doll and a T4 rare wand.  Had the dogs and my pet on him, and it still took awhile, but it was possible.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now, however, I stack all 3 snares on a ^^ mob 4-5 levels higher than me and I can burn him down in about 2-4 minutes depending on the mobs hp.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So while it is still viable to solo some quest mobs like chomper of the bouncers without the other training snares, it will take awhile and wont make for a good option for xping.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I guess it all comes down to playstyle, and while I dont kite all the time, I enjoy having that option. It seems to add a whole new dimension to soloing.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Eirgorn</DIV>
