I wanted to ask if anyone else noticed that caster mobs will now cast while being kited or rooted. This makes it impossible to solo certain mobs and really hurts our kiting ability. Anyone else notice this?

They've always been able to cast while being rooted. I don't kite, so I can't comment on that, but I'd think that since its similar to being rooted, they'd be able to so that doesn't surprise me much. I've recently noticed that caster mobs are now casting while being feared, which stinks.

I cast fear, mob casts stifle or whatever, and by the time I recover, the fear has worn off or is just about to. :smileysad:

Hmm, I have always seemed to notice Named caster mobs casting while being kited, like the Sludge Creep in EL. Whenever I would find a new named mob I wanted to try, Id always snare it and run a bit to see if it would cast on me, and if so hit /yell and haul tail to break the encounter. As long as the mob was a melee with close range CAs, they were toast.

Think back on regular caster mobs though, Im not so certain. I know the first time I did the splitpaw instance, I resorted to kiting some of the groups of 4 while my pet ate at them, and I know there are a ton of caster mobs in that dungeon. I cant say I really payed to much attention though.

Eirgorn

I can't say anything about the kiting part because I've haven't kited anything in EQ2. I can comment on the root bug, however. Until yesterday, if you used a root spell as your initial "aggro getter" on a caster mob it would not cast on you until after the root broke. It was a great way to take out groups with one or more caster. I noticed yesterday that this method no longer worked (at least all the time, it did seem to work some of the time).

This was OBVIOUSLY a bug so there are no justified complaints on this matter. Get over it.
