I did a few searches and found nothing as to specialization. Just wanted to get a list of the best specialization options at levels 10,20,30,40 and 50.

There are lots of posts about this, try searching for Traning Options.

I disagree with the above. I've found the training pets to be extremely helpful. The level 30 training pet (a warlock) is a surprisingly good tank and does very nice damage.

Ok, the puppies you get at 30 are just awesome. Nothing like summoning 3 undead dogs to deal damage for you. They get quite the reaction from your group too. Yeah i'm not much for maximizing my dps or any of that stuff, if I'm not having fun, then whatever. I don't wanna play that class. And those puppies are FUN (and good dps!)

Leawyn wrote:
And those puppies are FUN (and good dps!)

I agree with this. I've loved my dogs they are simply mean while the brutehound remains white con. Feel sad to put them away in their kennel now and release my Rats instead.

The Dogs have been this Necro's best friends from 30-36.9. I will hit 37 and scribe Rats today. I have a respec to burn. Is it wise to select Corpseskin over Dogs, now that I will have adept III Rats?

the dogs will still outdps the rats at that lvl. (not to mention they look way cooler )

I'd stick with the dogs for now and respec at lvl 42-43 (thats where the dogs cap), if you keep the respec till then, you might find another option for your 30 training as well.

I believe the rats start doing more dmg from lvl 40.

Yep dogs are still better till 44?-45. I'm keeping my dogs for when I'm grouped with other necros. Dogs stack with rats. I'm 44 and not 100% sure which I'm better casting still. I believe after 45 is definete. The rats are all double arrow down (at adept III at least) versus the dogs which are just single down arrow. They are better than rats hands down before they cap out on levels.

I'm thinking that, if you still have your respec, choose training pets and then, at level 50, respec and pick the things that are useful longer.

If your character was made before live update #3 on february 17, 2005, you were granted one chance to use the /respec command. After typing /respec in the chat window, all of your traits and traditions and creature mastery spells etc would be reset and you would be able to choose them all over again. You can only use it once and then only if you had that character prior to LU#3.

Eirgorn

Hmm Im really not sure what to advice to give you, as I still have not used my respec because I am unsure what will be "the best" route to take, and Im very happy with my abilities as stands, so I may hold off till combat changes before making a final decision, but...I really dont think it will be ground breaking in any case.

I chose Camturs at 10 (I never use this now because I believe it is borked) and will probably respec to the pulsing feedback for the snare (combined with my hex doll and the level 40 snare should be real fun : )

At 20 I chose the Hero, because there was alot of hooplah on the boards at the time that it was the best thing since sliced bread, and at the time I believed it, as it was a very good tank, but it has been mentioned that the TRad3 with the lvl 20 training buff Opals Aggrivating Seal, and then onto the UAad3 at 24 with the training buff could be just as good as the Hero, and the buff spell will have a longer life span than the hero (stop using the hero at 33 or so).

At 30 I chose the dogs, and I have loved them, but will probably not get them when I respec, as the Plague of rats ad3 (or master) are better in the mid40s+. They still have thier use at the moment due to stacking issues, but that may no longer be a problem if the info from Fan Faire about dot stacking is going to be implemented soon and will cover the pet dots as well. So, when I respec, I may go for the Darkbriars Corpseskin (petbuff) here.

At 40 (just a few days ago hehe) I chose Raveus' Clinging Stench, and I have to say I am really loving it. It makes kiting heroic/named encounters so much easier, and even in solo encounters, since this is my best dot atm, it is always on the mob so if I grab aggro I can just back away and let my pet and dogs and dots eat at him while safely outpacing him. The heartstone really didnt appeal to me, as I rarely use the other spells of the same line and it is just a hassle imo. The other 2 options seem ok to me, but I was really gunning for the snare/dot. I like the Gorging one for the encounter reduction to noxious mitigation, but I dont think the hp lifetap is that important atm, plus we get siphon life for that. Since in eq2 most of our "liching" is done from our pets, my hp is usually sitting pretty. The upgrade to Chains of Torment just had me sceptical. I use root alot in 3-4 mobb solo encounters, so I wouldnt mind an upgrade, but so far none in this line of spells seems to have the dot attached to it like the spell discription says, so I decided it wasnt worth it.

Well, I guess that was just a lot of rambling, and as you can see, Im not really convinced that there is one best way to go. Pick to your playstyle and maybe others in the forums can help more, I know they have helped me alot. Right now, I am enjoying my necro more then I ever imagined.

Thanks all,

Eirgorn

I did the second post and I said the skills that were useful at lv 50 not the skills that were real uber or fun but for only a few levels, I agree that the trainning pets, dogs etc are fun but they 100pct useless at lv 50, you will have upgrades to those spells even if you use ad1 rats will be more dps then dogs at lv 50.

And you CAN'T /resp unless your necro character was made like 6 months ago, So carefull with skill you pick, if you plan to get lv 50 and I am sure you should try cause necro is one of the most fun class in game, get the skills I said cause that will make huge difference, like lv 30 training skill mark, uber dps and stacks with horrific mark, do I need to say any thing else more about this ?

Well, you had fun with nuker or tank trainning pets and dogs but I am sure if you could /resp again or for the 1st time you would change the skills you picket to be more use at lv 50, dont tell ppl to get dogs or getl iek warlock pets cuz they ultra fun And they will be used at lv 50 because it is a lie.all those trainning skills are fun but if you want to be "best possible" necromancer you should have the skills I said on the 1st post I did here.

Btw I did not get grisly mark but I regret and told a friend guildmate to get it cause I knew it was best lv30 skill, also working with horrific mark what is soooo uber.(if I could /resp again for a 3rd time I would only change that skill)If you ask me it is best of the best trainning skills for xp groups, offcourse one of the two snare dots are uber for soloing.

That is it, I hope this helps and ppl stop sayign that we can just pick what ever skill and then do a /resp later cause it is not true, /resp exist not for necros made recentely.

Good luck

I think you will get that after combat changes go live. I read that in someone's Fan Faire notes, that everyone will get a /respec after the Combat Upgrade

Yes, people are getting a new respec when the Combat Upgrade hits servers, according to one of the devs I talked to at FanFaire.

Well that's good news, that means I can go ahead and burn my respec and try out a couple new things. heck I may even change to Gnoll mastery for the upcoming adv. pack:smileyhappy:

Eirgorn
