I bought my UA ad1 on Kithicor for 1.4 gold via the fence. I used him all the way until I dinged 38.5 yesterday and whipped out my RTad3. The only bad part is that he stops leveling at 36 instead of 37 like the ad3 version of UA, but I didnt think it was worth the difference in gold.

On my server the palladium/rough jasper will run about 25-30 gold and then you can figure on 5 or so more gold for the sage to make the combine. That just didnt seem worth it to me, but I have a problem giving up my money.

Regards,

Eirgorn

I paid 45 gold for my UA adept 3. The increase in tanking ability is well worth the gold.

I used the apprentice 4, adept 1 and adept 3 versions. There is a huge difference in tanking abilities between them.

45 gold pieces eh!? Well would it be smart to get the lvl 20 hero pet while saving up for the UA adept 3 pet? Its going to take me sometime to get that sum... Thanks for the info !

Also around 45 on Permafrost. I harvested the rare for mine, but it would have been worth it to buy. Having the UA adept III made training The Dogs at 30 an easy call. The Dogs made 30-35 a cakewalk. Now, thanks in part to the good advice found on this board, I have Rotting Thrall and Plague of Rats at adept III, with Words of Wicked next on the list. Loving the Necro! For eq2 the Devs listened to those who cried for an end to the "holy trinity" of Tank/Heal/CC, and cut it down to Tank/Heal. The Enchanters took it harder than most, but Necros have legitimate issues, especially with pets, dps and Raids in mind. The changes in the works, imo, will have as much an eye toward combat post-50 as it will addressing current troubles. I expect to see longer fights and happier Necros when the dust settles.

Hey Hoom what did you choose for training lvl 20? Did you have the UA3 at lvl 24? Thanks for the tips!

Aye Selantyr!

Thank you all for the great tips!! I'm going to take your advice, unfortunatly i cannot respec - so i'm going to pass on the Hero (/sigh) and locate an adept 1 pet and take the pet buff. Thanks again!!

FYI, I went without the hero and it's been fine. I'm 23.3 with an Adept I Tell Recurit as my tank pet currently. 22 is his last level but it really isn't that big of a deal. It's going to take me a little longer to level I'm sure, but I chose the DoT for my training at 20, and I like the extra damage. Having 4 dots on mobs takes them down pretty quickly. Let the pet get aggro, dot up the mob, then concentrate on healing the pet. He can still take on lvl 23's without my help at all. I see it as short term inconvenience with better performance down the road as I had decided to go with the UA 3 starting at level 24 anyway.

I probably should have chosen the pet buff, but, I can't /respec it right now. Maybe if I have that option later I'll change.

I heard he's good... but the first time I summoned him he was blue... so I decided he wasn't worth it, regardless of his special abilities.

Message Edited by Necronstreksis on 06-07-2005 02:39 PM

Yeah What i did was choose the Hero pet as my lvl 20 option and purchased an adept 1 Grim pet. I figure by the time i hit mid 20's i should have the funds for an adept 3 UA (or god willing I find a rare). Question though, Now i know this is going to sound noob'ish, but oh well - If i hit /respec will I be able to cancel out? So that when i do get my UA adept 3 later in life i can cancel my hero pet and get the opals? LOL - im to scared to type /respec only to find that i cannot cancel out...Please dont flame for being a chicken little...

I just did a respec to go from hero/dogs to opals/darkbriars and I didn't see any way to cancel once I did it.

Greatscott

Not many people seem to take the DoT so when grouping with a higher lvl necro it lets me avoid stacking issues and still contribute with some panache. DoTs, Petrify, Root thingy and a UA or even Grim allow you to solo effectivley all the way through your 20s (Im 28 at the mo) - although green heroics are a bit of an issue for me without some crafty kiting. Personally I would avoid the pet buff like the plague - not convinced at the amount of heal that it contributes as compared to our other buffs, just my oppinion.

Cheers - Pete

At 40 I still use the lev 20 training dot, around 30 dmg a tick, debuff, and the sweet thing is 1 sec cast <---- in my opinion all our dots should be 1 sec casts.

Now If I had another respec, I would go with opals but.... its not a bad selection at all.
