<DIV>Well, I'm not much of a PvP person historically given my past experiences with SOE, so I thought I'd start this thread to see how other necromancers think we'll stack up when (if?) it comes. I've read that you'll be able to "purchase" a PVP character/monster/etc to use, but this thread is more in terms of Necromancers being functional in a PVP situation.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I can't help but stare at my less than 3K hit points at 50 ungrouped, and wonder how well we're going to mitigate the 3200 damage an Ice Comet will deal... Or the 2700-3600 damage that Devastation will deal... Those are two that having particular resist gear might help against, but how do we handle huge amounts of Rogue/Predator damage?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Are we just going to get owned in every fight cause it only will take 1 spell to kill us? Or do you think there will be a scaling so that player characters take less damage from that stuff? </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Is it just me, or does it seem like we're going to get owned in a straight battle against basically any sorceror, zerker, predator, or rogue who has time to get 1 spell/ca off?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Our stun takes 4 seconds to cast.</DIV> <DIV>Our root is basically worthless.</DIV> <DIV>Our fear might have possibilities.</DIV> <DIV>Our DD is insignificant at 50 compared to how much more other classes do.</DIV> <DIV>Our DoT lines are pretty good, but still, would most likely require us to be up for 1 minute at least to take down your average level 50 of any other class.</DIV> <DIV>Of our pet lines, seems like only the tank will be worthwhile to use, and even then it would depend a lot on it getting stuns on the given opponent to be effective. Maybe after the revamp Grim Terror will cast Devastation (/giggle)... but I guess that's hoping for too much.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Having stable long-term DPS and excellent power regeneration doesn't mean a whole lot for fights that will average less than 30s assuming they don't change mitigation around for PVP.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thoughts?</DIV>

Well, I think in duels all the damage is cut in half or something like that. Ice Comet might do the 3200 in PvE, but in PvP theres no way they will make it do that much. There will definitly be some kind of damage scaling system. So I wouldn't worry too much. Also, don't forget about lifetap, that comes in handy in duels.

It has an 8s cooldown.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>That is hardly significant for PVP when any burst DPS class will do at a minimum 500+ per ca/spell/ho.</DIV>

<P>Resists. Self buffed I currently have 1820 cold resist. That means I would absorb 36.4% of the damage from Ice comet.</P> <P>I really think scouts are going to be owning us, since we have no way of resisting them.</P>

<DIV>Have you ever noticed enemy pets interrupting you? What if our pets will do the same to other players? If thats the case, the other player won't have enough time to cast thier ice comet/assassinate/condemning blade.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Regarding your HP/Mana, get your buffs adept3 or master. And get good equipment. I currently have over 3k on each.</DIV> <P>Message Edited by Nodeos on <SPAN class=date_text>05-22-2005</SPAN> <SPAN class=time_text>01:47 PM</SPAN></P><p>Message Edited by Nodeos on <span class=date_text>05-22-2005</span> <span class=time_text>01:48 PM</span>

The specific resist is something we can cater to by collecting specific gear... but even then, it's going to suck up 1 massive attack partially, but it's not going to stop them from casting as if that 1 spell is there limit. Plus, with that much damage there's still a huge chance to interrupt whatever we're in the middle of casting.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I know Scouts are going to wreck us.</DIV>

What's the wizard going to do for those 4s? I'm sure the pet will interrupt, but will it be effective enough to save us 100% of the time? 75%? 50%? I'm just speculating and seeing what ideas people have, I'm not sure since I haven't PVP'd as I said in my original post.</P> <P>Check my link... I've got mostly legendary/fabled gear (including gebs, invoker, prismatic, girdle of escape)... 18 masters (including thrall, grim terror, skinrot, words, bindings, plague of rats) and every spell from 1 to 50 as Ad3+. I still only have about 2944 hp, 2700ish power, and while there's usually at least 1K in resist on most, 3K+ on disease/poison (and banked with certain combo gear I can push 3K resist on a few stats), that's still not going to help that much in general (unless I always carry the resist gear around and/or use the 'bug'). I'm sure we'll be fine against Mental, Disease, and Poison based with our buffs alone... but what about Cold/Fire/Divine... Pierce/Slash/Blud?</P> <P>Just getting some conversation going... What do you think our average chances will be in the hypothetical even matched fight (equal gear, equal number of masters/adepts, etc)?</P>

<DIV>With our standing right now, i guess its going to be good gear and good spells.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Yes, there is a chance that scouts and wizards will destroy us, but if you have any common sense, you should do fine in pvp. The pet interrupting IS realistic.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I also have some masters that i think are quite nice, and will be even better when the combat changes come out.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Regarding gear, i only have a few fabled items, and getting more as my guild raids.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have 3K+ HP and power because of my master 1 buffs and the grim presence when i use it.</DIV>
