<DIV>Since I've been reading these forums I've noticed many necros of my level (30) with several Adept 3 quality spells. I've found this to be a little alarming since I myself have none, and I've never had enough money to buy one. I tend to have around 10-15gp at any given time. The rares required for ink tend to run between 30gp-50gp on my server. I've killed many different mobs over my thirty levels and I've never really seen any drop pattern that would indicate that "x mob is good for farming money." So my question is how do you guys get all your money/rares? Do you spend huge amounts of time harvesting? Do you make money hand over first through tradeskilling?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I usually don't have touble making money in games, but for some reason this is really vexing me in EQ2.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Kaellaar - Level 30 Necromancer, Nektulos</DIV>

The best outfitted lower level toons have a primary higher level toon that is usually funding them. Once you get into the higher level zones (ie Feerrott, Lavastorm, Everfrost, Permafrost...etc) You can make pretty decent loot just farming the common mobs. The first toon was the hardest for me, now if I need money for an alt I just go out killing for a few hours and drop 50g on an alt to use. Some people have a problem with this like all toons should be kept seperate. I say I spent the time to level my primary up that high and I will do what I like with the money he makes. So be patient, keep harvesting that is your best bet to get adept III's made and try to get a good relationship with a Sage and Alchi...or become a Sage (with the new books they can make thier own inks)yourself. If you have the rare most reasonable people only charge a small fee for actually making the ink and spell. Going the self-sufficient route will take enormous amounts of time so unless you like crafting just save up and keep looking for those rares. Also being in a good guild may help with your problem. Good Luck. <div></div>
I got all my adept3's from harvesting... Once a week I'd spend a day harvesting in my respective zone, would always get at least 1 rare for a rare ink... <div></div>

<DIV>Thank you for the info. Sounds like I just need to be patient and also devote more time to harvesting.</DIV>

do the heritage quests and sell the items. They sell pretty high.

<DIV>harvest every node you can. </DIV> <DIV>Collect every "?" you see on the ground.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Buy two 20 slot boxes and put them in your house vault. </DIV> <DIV>Buy 6 10-slot bags and keep them on you at all times so you can harvest more. </DIV> <DIV>Sell everthing you harvest. </DIV> <DIV>Sell every semi-valuable armor drop you find. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Check the broker for items that are unusually cheap.</DIV> <DIV>Buy them and re-list them for a profit, or what they would normally sell for. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>it takes some time, but treat it as a mini-game. Set up your store and make a profit as fast as you can. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>By 25 I had a plat in the bank, and by 31 I just made it to 2 plat, allowing me to upgrade my important spells to Ad3 (at 40gp each).</DIV>
<DIV>The trick is to buy off playerauctions.com. It is easier to make money in the real world to buy in game stuff. Sony Exchange will be a hoot. </DIV>

I reckon its tougher now if it's your first character. If it's the same on all servers, rares are 50% higher in price than they were not so long ago and folks aren't online to haggle. Also palladium is out of the question in price for spells when its now taken by the NPC on 'Glowing Black Stone' heritage. <div></div>

<DIV>Also, during the 30s sell loot jumps by a significant amount in what it sells to merchants. For example. Misthide Chest pieces sell for 95s...people try to sell them on the market and find no one wants them because it's an easy to get item so they, unwittingly, lower the price to try and make a little. I can't tell you how many 30-50 silver misthide chest pieces I've bought at the Docks in Freeport, then sold to the merchant just down the way for a profit.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>That's one tactic..another is the one described above. Find an item that's pretty common (glowing shards for instance), but go for a decent amount. For the longest time I'd check the merchant every night for glowing shards..buy any that were 1g or less (I've seen some on for 10-15silver) and then pop them on my merchant for 2.5-3g.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have another secret to getting t3 rares, fairly, easily. But that one is mine <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> But, just devote a bit of time every now and then to harvesting and you'll not only be able to get adept III's for relatively cheap (two combines, most charge 5g each combine), but you'll be able to sell some for a lot more. Especially if you get palladium.</DIV>

<P>I know this is probably a stupid question but I bought 2-20 slot boxes and put them in my house vault. Ok, great! How do I sell items inside the box?</P> <P>Game wants me to set a price on the boxes,,,,,I don't want to sell the boxes. <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P> <P>See I told you it was a dumb question.</P>

Answer to the last post...Put items in your 20-slot boxes in the vault. You also need to set up a selling board on your inn wall (available from a close by merchant.) After you set that up, click on the board, and you will see a tab called "vault merchandise." Set up the prices on each item you want to sell. And you are all set.

Since I had a hard time finding the merchant to sell the market board, it wouldn't surprise me if you did too. In Temple Street, and I'm guessing in all other residence zones, this merchant is on the dock.

Yes when you get into the higher zones that is where you start to make really good money. When I reach lvl 30 I went to EL. I was making between 40 and 60 gold per lvl of my character. Pieces on Lamia on the beach sell for 1g to even 3g for some items. So yes it takes time and all I did before that is try to get at least adept 1. Shop around on both brokers. Make sure you check every page of the broker as I saw one spell selling at 23g at top and I finally got it way down other pages for 69s. So you can imagine how easy to over spend if you don't shop around. Like the real world some people are greedy so shop around. <div></div>

<DIV>If it makes you feel any better my Necro is Level 47 on Nek and I have just acquired my first Adept III spells (Skinrot, Siphon Life, and Lich(future use of course)). I agree with what everyone else has posted and Harvest Harvest Harvest (got 3 Rubies giong for that great Ebon Cluster) and Sell Sell Sell. At 47 I have made about 10pp buy selling drops and questing. I really do not take my selling too seriuosly so I probably could have made more if I devoted some time to it. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have noticed that people do tend to sell items for a lot lower than what they are going for (wither by Merch or Player) so the above poster (sorry forgot your name) is correct on the Buy low sell High tactic (have made upwards of 1 - 2g on some purchases.. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So hang in there and you will be able to upgrade in no time.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>One thing I forgot is that it is much cheaper to get your own rare and have someone do the Ink and Spell combines for you. Since no one in my guild is high enough yet I had to go outside the guild and was charged a total of 10g per spell (5g for each Ink and Spell). On the Nek server most of our Adept I's go for 5-15g and the only Adpet III that I ahve seen (Essence Shift, and not even a "Necro" spell) goes for 35g. So check your guild and the Marketplace Forums for your server for prices and people LFW. </DIV><p>Message Edited by schatjager on <span class=date_text>05-26-2005</span> <span class=time_text>06:59 AM</span>
