I guess I want to know the proper path. I am also going to be an artisan (likely a sage so I can scribe spells). I have upgraded some spells already in to the LvL II apprentice. I am 1/2 way to level 11 with my summoner and plan on making the switch when I can to a Necromancer.

I have read all throghout the board that we are SOLO players that do not fit into a group and it is actually kind of depressing (for lack of a better term) that you can put so much time into a charachter and be considered a hinderance or outsider to a group. I have read in here that the developers somehow weakend the class in EQII. I really didnt want to be a wizard and it was not a choice when I finished the quest anyway (sorcerer path) so I picked this one instead.

I dont want to play a healer in the game because I play one in real life! I wanted to play something on the darker side of life so to speak. Now I am getting the feeling that we a shuned in the game (the Necro) and I will never find a group or guild that will need me.

That is another reason I want to be a sage in hte artisan class if possible or even tailor. Maybe then a guild or group will include the Necromancer to be.......

Fellow Necromancers give me a sign.....

You were given some bad information. Take responses from non-summoners about the summoner classes with a grain of salt (and in the case of the responses you got, a pillar of it).

Summoners (particularly necro's) are not a solo class in this game, we are a very good grouping class that brings alot to the table. You will find this the more you play and learn about the game. Most of the time, people will want to group with you due to attitude and "character", not necessarily what class you are.

These games can be rather daunting to learn but they are alot of fun, welcome to EQ2, hope you enjoy your stay. I wrote a FAQ, maybe it'll help you out http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=30&message.id=3829

Edit: And I agree, learning MMO acronyms is almost as difficult as learning reefkeepers vernacular (I went through and checked to see just what put that sour taste in your mouth)... since I keep tanks and used to have a nano-reef, I feel your pain. You'll pick it all up in no time flat.... it's alot easier then FOWLR or DSB :smileywink:.

Message Edited by El Chupacabras on 04-27-2005 03:50 PM

I play up to two to three hours a night so far and I am enjoying it. Thanks for affirming the Lingo thing too, it helps when people help you out in new situations.

I actually am setting up a 270 gallon custom SPS tank right now (custom build 72*36*24) to have near me for support while playing EQ II. It is soothing and helps.

thanks for the insight

That sure is a short 270... with that depth and 2' height you should have one heck of a nice SPS tank with plenty of lower light area's in the front and back for some leathers, LPS, polyps etc.

Good luck with the game and the tank!

in long shadow alley you can go to the scribe and get the book to learn the language for 12s, You need it to complete the stolen artifacts quest and receive the belt that gives you int and other bonuses (important for me I think).

The last artifact was the hardest because it was surrounded by a mob of ghouls and other undead creatures. I used my pet to pull them and read the thing.

then I used thise spell combo's to kill them. It was hard and I nearly died doing it. just had to be quick.
