<DIV>Just hit 40 and rather excited, but I do not want to make a mistake in choosing the wrong Spell. <DIV>I'm not lvl 40 but here's my thoughts about it just from descriptions:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Marnek's Excruciating Bindings sounds useless.  When the root breaks, the dot effect also ends....and root breaks when the mob gets touched.  So, unless you are trying to solo multiple mobs (which probably isnt a good idea anyway) and using pet to tank one and rooting the other, this spell will be useless.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Zarvonn's Vitae Gorge - as far as I can tell Breath of the Unearthed is an AE DD spell, not a DoT like the spell descrip says.  Seems like it may be useful, but we also get a single target DD spell, so I don't know how power effective this spell will be.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Tsaelith's Blackened Heart - if this is a multiple charge heart, then it sounds really useful for groups</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Ravus' Clinging Stench - sounds useful too, but do we get an upgrade of ghastly stench in the 40s?</DIV>

<DIV>I am 35 right and very interested in what everyone has been choosing for this one.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My first instinct I think that I would choose the Stench upgrade.  But the Dark Heart is very interesting.  If this give a good amount of power it might be worth it, or if you can give to the whole group with one cast.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If anyone has chosen the Dark Heart option I would like to know more details on this one.</DIV>

<DIV>There's an upgrade to Chains called Eternal Bindings lvl 47 spell.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The lvl 44 upgrade to Breach of Unearthed is called Accursed  Cloud.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have seen adept 1 versions of Stench of the Grave and Eternal Bindings, but not for Accursed Cloud or Sacifical Heart, so that might be worth taking into account.</DIV>

Ravus' Clinging Stench is currently broken. It is also noted in the list of current necro spell issues post but I took this spell before I knew about the problem. I'm not sure it does much more damage than the adept 1 ghastly stench either. The spell is bugged in that it only lasts a single tick.Had I known this I probably would have chosen Tealiths Blackened Heart I suppose but I dont really care for any of the level 40 options :/

<DIV>Originally I chose the upgrade to BoE also.  I was less then impressed with it so when I respeced I took the gastly stench upgrade instead.  Turns out they are both broken... lol  Once they fix the spells so the DoT portion actually works I think either of them will be a worthy choice.  I didn't even consider the chains upgrade because that whole line has been relatively worthless up to this point and the dark heart upgrade seems like it could be useful but even at lvl 40 I don't use them all that often.  </DIV>

<DIV>The Vitae gorge or clinging stench upgrade is the best option of those - new root @ 47, You get dark heart upgrade at 48.  The single target DOT does decent damage (ticking between 120-150 generally).  Vitae gorge does moderate(60-80 if im recalling corectly) AE DOT with lifetap.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Honestly I forget which I picked the last time though.  I think Clinging.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

Onyx Heartstone has been a lifesaver in the 50 Epic zones this weekend heh. Even though the description is messed up (See <a href="http://www.netphestnva.com/EQ2/heart.jpg" target=_blank>HERE</a>), it just plain rocks for raids. It heals for alot more than the app III sacrifical heart (The 47 spell) and has the added benefits of cures noxious impairments (havnt tested) and adds a temporary health buff (Confirmed) so I am very happy. I dont know how much Sac Heart Adept I heals for since I cannot find the adept, but one of my friends who has it says he prefers the Onyx Heartstone to it.<p>Message Edited by Jakanden on <span class=date_text>02-21-2005</span> <span class=time_text>02:05 PM</span>

<DIV>I think that I am going to choose the Heart upgrade by the description you stated.  Some some healers don't even know how to use them and when they do they think it is the greatest thing.  They just keep asking for more.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also I think in grouping and raids this will be more important.  What is a couple more ticks of a dot gonig to do if the power is gone from the healer and the tank is low on life.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also I'm thinking not many will choose this.  It will be something different than many other necro's.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm 39 now and moving toward 40.  I will try and post some information when I choose.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

Every healer I've been with absolutely LOVES the onyx heartstone. They are constantly demanding one. I had the vitae gorge before the respec and I'm very happy with my respec.Hands down, the onyx heartstone is the way to go at 40.

<DIV>I don't have the heartstone yet, but was just wondering... during the course of an evening do you find that this is one of these items where you have to summon a new one for everyone after every fight? Assuming that the healer etc uses it every fight. Seems like a PITA if you have 2 healers and some punk dps melee demanding heartstones after every encounter.</DIV>

<DIV>I took the heartstone as well, it is very nice... handy and brings us a little more in line with power transfer.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Chandigar, the heartstone has the same recast as the splinters so one every 30 seconds.  I generally summon one every ten minutes, maybe a little more depending on how well the group is doing.  I don't summon these things every fight... if you need that many heartstones, you need to buy some water.  Fortunately, my groups are getting more and more regular so I don't see this happen very often though I have seen it many times, especially with guardians and priests (guardians have to burn power like made once a necro gets in group and priests just cus they get into the habit of summoning water).  Of course, those are the classes that generally need them anyways (SK's are horrible about power too, though they know that and always seem to have water)...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have been in groups where my splinter was the only thing regen'ing the priest... never again =).</DIV>

<DIV>- Depending on your group, you can use hearts frequently (every couple pulls) if cleric mana is a problem. Normally my groups use them in an "oh [FAAR-NERFED!]" situation where you get an add, or tanking a [Removed for Content] named and the healers need that extra mana.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>-They are lore, one at a time. Also 30 second recast to summon the hearts.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>-Can be created in combat, again good for named fights.. healers can use these as much as possible and it can add up to a ton extra healing mana.</DIV>

Even though they are lore, you can still cast other "hearts" and have one of each. Combine with Manastone, and you have some serious mana regen.

I got the onyx heartstone yesterday. Its great. I give a heartstone, and a dark heart to the healers while on the way to challenging encounters. They still have to wait 60 seconds to use each thought. Apparently while they are different items they cast the same effect (Dark Heart) The interesting question is will onyxheart use the same effect as the sacrifical heart.
