<DIV>Not sure myself, but I would think the tellurian recruit as it has the adept I rather than just app. But you could upgrade that to lvl III I imagine (as soon as you can get a scroll crafted) and I would assume that would be on par with the recruit. Not sure though.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>-Mitaku</DIV>

<DIV>use tel recruit definitely for soloing. i only have app2 and i soloed kizdean gix at level 20 easily. the tel recruit tanks much better. only use grim spellbinder in groups since he is a caster and not meant to tank.</DIV>

<DIV>do not uprade tellurian recruit to adept1 if you want to lose your tank</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>upgrade is a spider caster called tellurian crawler........... it die very fast almost like lvl 20 caster pet</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>so keep your app2 or app3 i dont know if its bugged but now i have 2 casters pets and have to wait lvl 24 to get a new tank pet <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>LOL, on the Adept1 pet not being able to tank, he is a very capable tank as mine tanks well. Can send him on a Bull elephant and he can pretty much solo it with only a few heals. Adept1 pet is definately worth it.</DIV>
<DIV>At 23 I use the Tellurian Recruit to solo and the Grim Spellbinder to group...both are app2 and do well at what I use them for. Though, I do get a new melee pet next level...cant wait...so that will be nice.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The Spellbinder does about 30dmg per hit with agitate on..so he's not bad in a group. The Recruit does poor damage, but has a lot more HP, so he fairs OK when I do solo.</DIV>

<DIV>So what's the consensus on the Tellurian Recruit Adept version, can it tank or not? I'd like to hear more feedback from necros out there.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Another thing to consider, I was told to be very careful who I purchase my spells from and to ensure that they were made by somebody with great skill. I guess somebody with low skill can make scrolls that are not very good and will reflect in the field. We have two posters here where one says his spider pet (Tellurain Recruit Adept level) can tank well and one where it can't tank at all. Are we seeing the effects of poor scroll making?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Lets say I was to purchase an Adept version of Tellurian Recruit from a guy that just made a terrible one. Can I unscribe it from my book and rescribe a good one or am I stuck with this terrible pet?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Yavool</DIV> <DIV>Kithicor</DIV>

<DIV>As for craftsmanship on Adept1, that wouldn't apply here since Adept1 books are a drop only item, so all would be same. </DIV>
<DIV>I don't have a good base for the comparison as I have Tellurian App3, and Grim Spellbinder Adept1.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>But, though Grim doesn't have nearly the HP of the Scarab it does much more damage. At 23 I am using the Grim to kill whites and yellows because I found it to result in faster kills yet the same downtime as the Scarab. Now this could be alot different if I had an Adept Scarab...but I don't.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>How does the App2 24 pet tank? Better then an Adept 3 Scarab?</DIV>

<DIV>Adpet III - Tellurian Recuit and it can tank ...i solo'd the Ohluran Orc outside in teh commons with just few heals on him and I didnt cast one spell. He solo'd two up arrow green mobs most times without healing...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It can tank....</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now the Grim Spellbinder....it can NOT tank.....good for groups....sucks for solo</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Telaris</DIV> <DIV>Level 21 Necro-GUK</DIV>

<DIV>I don't know how the person up in the thread says the crawler cannot tank....maybe taking on group encounter ++ mobs and expecting 1 pet to be able to tank I don't know. I have adept1 recruit and adept1 spellbinder. Recruit is a warrior, spellbinder is a warlock. The necromancer's pets are situational. Recruit is used when soloing or dueled with another caster and tanks for us, spellbinder is used when there's a pc tank and we need more DPS. Recruit does minimal damage and takes alot, spellbinder does much more damage and can't take as much.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Yeah the crawler might "cast" something, but he's no spellcaster, like the spellbinder who will lob green balls of flame at a mob from 30 feet away. Just like a pc warrior looks like he is "casting" sometimes when he's buffing or using a special move, your warrior pet is probably doing the same thing, and trying to taunt the mob. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As long and you're taking on mobs that are designed as a solo mob, you'll be fine. If you're going to try a + or ++ mob which is designed for a group, yeah you're going to have a tough time, be doing a lot of healing your pet, and possibly fail.</DIV>
Not to further clutter the debate, but how does Xelha's Fallen Hero compare to the other two pets?

<DIV>The hero stomps the other two pets into the ground. No comparison at all.</DIV>

If you compared the pets with no buffs up the grim may beat the thrall more often since grim doesn't rely on buffs to increase its output, RT does. Words of the Wicked and Rending Frenzy have horrible power drains associated with them and that's hard to get used to after using the grim for so long. Occasionally, the grim will outdamage the thrall but when all is said and done, the highest average DPS in a play session will go to the thrall.</FONT></DIV>

<DIV>The adept 1 crawler is very much a tank, and I would deff upgrade to it if I were you. The beetle has the ability to knock down two legged mobs (human types) but the increase in dps from the crawler more than makes up for it in my opinion.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Not to mention would you rather have a nasty little black spider or a beetle that looks like a [Removed for Content] fanning itself.</DIV>
