While two-boxing a conjurer and necro I plan to use one pet as tank and one as mage. So far the choice is arbitrary, and in the future it may depend on mob resists, with me choosing which pet will be a mage dependant on the mob. But overall, which pet is the best tank? I have used a conjurer tank up to level 40 in the past and it was OK. Does the necro pet have life taps that make it the better pet to survive and draw aggro?

Should I go the other direction and choose which mage pet I use dependant on if I am fighting groups or solo mobs? Unless I am questing I try to find areas with lots of groups.

Well here's another way to look at it. As a conjurer, you can only heal your own pet. ( unless you put AA points into being able to heal others ). Whereas, as a Necro, you can heal others already. So if you use an earth pet, the conj and nec can help heal him if needed. If you use the nec tank pet, only the Necro can heal him ( unless you spend AA in conj healing ). That, and the conj has more abilities to keep the earth pet alive, and blazing presence is hard to beat for grabbing hella aggro on your pet. Something to consider.

Ellestil 60 Conjurer Najena--Shadow Syndicate

I would suggest using the Conjuror pet to tank and using the Necromancer pet for damage. Conjurors have the Vehement Rock line to block attacks and Blazing Presence and Elemental Vestment for agro. Necromancers have the Rending Fury line which will make your pet do some nice damage. And as the person that posted before mentioned Necros can heal any friendly target.

I duoed with a necro for the longest time. Conjuror pets by far tank better than Necro pets, especially at higher levels.
