<div>Hi guys,</div><div> </div><div>I read the thread below and lots of higher lvl conjurer's stated that they used the scout/mage pets for solo'ing.</div><div>I'm level 47 now and have only used my "earth pet" with his defensive stance.</div><div> </div><div>Can anyone please give me advise on how to use the other types of pet for solo'ing. All mine seem a little meek <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></div><div>My latest mage pet is M1 and my Scout is AdeptIII. I also use renew servant Adept III (heals for 444)</div><div> </div><div>Any advice would be very happily received <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></div><div> </div><div>Raki (Lords Of Chaos)</div><div>lvl 47 Conjurer</div><div>Runnyeye</div><div> </div>
Mage pet dies too fast for solo, but Air + Defensive works pretty good against even con, and Air + Offensive is great against blues/greens.<div></div>

<div></div>At what level range does this make up become feasible? I am currently only 18 but was curios if my first air pet will be up to par for soloing?

<div></div><div>Pet choice is very situational, and in many situations we can adjust our tactics to make any pet/stance combination work. I find that the safest choice overall is earth pet, defensive or offensive stance depending on the level of the mobs (yellow I usually choose defensive since they land more hits). The air pet starts to really shine as a solo option after level 50 when we get Blazing Presence, a 300+(?) damage proc that lasts for 5 hits. Since the air pet hits so quickly, a no-arrow or lower mob will drop in seconds. When using the air pet on multi-mob encounters, you need to concentrate on stunning/stifling and even rooting a mob to reduce the damage the pet takes. If I'm fighting a difficult mob and I have to root it for sacrifice or pet death, sometimes I'll summon the air pet and use BP to quickly finish it off. The air pet is fast damage, and I'd recommend just testing it out to get a feel for it's dps and defense/hp to see for yourself how best it can be used for soloing.</div><div> </div><div>I enjoy using the fire pet for solo, but only on greens and blues with no or down arrows. It does great dps as we all know, but not as quickly as the air pet. IMO, it's the most dangerous pet to choose for soloing, but is fun for a change of pace.</div>

<div></div><blockquote><hr>Doobur wrote:<div></div>At what level range does this make up become feasible? Like Magus said, air in defensive will work fine on white solo encounters and even yellow singletons. Blue and green mobs it will be even more effective. The best advice anyone can give it to just try it out and you'll quickly get a feel for it. It will be a fun change of pace, and it should be a viable option for whatever you're fighting, you just might have to switch up your tactics a bit :smileyhappy:

<div><span><blockquote><hr>Doobur wrote:<div></div>At what level range does this make up become feasible? <div></div><p>I'm in my mid 40's and I still heavily use the earth pet for solo or in a team. I prefer earth cause it needs less work or attention to make sure it doesn't die and the taunt/agro it generates is more then enough to let me drop nukes without much worry of agro. And in a team, depending on type of tank and skill of the tank, it can often steal agro which means that the tank has an easier job of it.</p><p> </p>

<div>if you enjoy chilled fighting: earth</div><div>if you enjoy adrenalin: air</div><div>if you're insane: fire (*smile*)</div><div> </div><div> </div>
No offense intended, but if you're using the Tellurian pet in a group with another tank you aren't fulfilling your role. Your role would be a damage dealing class. The tellurians do little damage, especially compared to our other pets. Now I know there may be circumstances where this may not hold true, but as a general rule, unless the tank simply can't handle aggro and do his/her job, you should be using one of the damage pets. Also, if you're using the tellurian, since it is taunting, you're also probably making it harder for the tank to hold aggro.<div></div>

<div></div><p>Guess i should clarify a little. On the server I was on (before all this server moving madness) i seemed to have a hard time finding a group with a good solid tank who would properly hold agro when using other pets. I have never had any complaints about not doing damage and in fact, many groups would comment that they could see a huge drop in damage if I went afk.</p><p>I have not played my conjurer for about 2 weeks so I am sure the LU19 has changed things a good bit for conjurer as I have been reading. </p><p> </p>

My air pet get's the most time. Its single target damage is most useful vs single target and occasional multi-target encounters in a group, solo wise I can remove 1 target from a multi-mob encounter and one mob dies nearly instantly. My fire pet sees it game time mostly when I am in a group and notice that we are taking lots of multi-mob encounters. When I was killing those groups of beetles in the Sinking Sands for exp... fire pet was my choice. Then the beetles seems to get a revamp and now they interupt a lot and have a can't cast stun.I tried the Earth pet Vs 5 encounters for the special conjuror only staff in Living Tombs. The earth pet just did not have what it takes to win that series of encounters although I could do 1 encounter and wait. I consider the Earth pet to me mostly useless. I did rely very heavy on the earth pet until level 48 though.Okoko the mage<div></div>

<div></div>I use my scout pet 90% of the time when soloing. I haven't tried any heroics lately but when I was 57 I could kite the sandfury brutes (56-57^^^) easily enough.Stuns go a long way in soloing big things. And as a poster said above, it is very exciting to use the scout pet.Edit: Oh, and I always use offensive stance with the scout.<div></div><p>Message Edited by Dontan on <span class="date_text">02-13-2006</span><span class="time_text">10:06 AM</span></p>

<div></div>I was going to edit my first post, but I can't find it. In my first post I told you what I am using, but I looked at the original post again and realized I should tell you how I am using it.again I prefer the Air pet most of the time. Here are <strike>two</strike> Three ways I use it. <edit>My pet is alway in the aggressive (high damage) stance<edit>:Vs Single TargetCast Blazing PresenceIf I expect a lot of damage (from ^^^ for instance) I cast <span class="postbody">- Vehement StoneFrigid Winds (slows targets advance, deals damage)Harden(stops target, damage) and sic pet at same timeFiery DoomPyrotechnic (sometimes the target is dead around the time this completes)Fish if neededcontinue with Heroic opportunitiesVs Dual targetCast Blazing Presence and </span><span class="postbody">- Vehement StoneChain Target 1 and Fiery Doom Target 1Hit escape or change targets (this now canceled fiery doom because for somereason I don't know)When Target 2 hits you pet attacksTarget 2 will very often fall on the floor instantlyCast Fish and sic pet on target 2continue with heroic ooportintiesvs Multi-TargetI like to open with Flash FloodEscape (deselect all targets)Quake (all targets get hit)Press f1 twice (to select pet)Shattered LandBlazing presenceContinue with heroic Opportunities</span><span class="postbody">- Vehement Stone and heal pet as needed (i never rely on healing the pet though... maybe once a fight occasionally, healing is time I could be casting damage)One thing I notice is that the more mobs in an encounter the weaker each individual is. As a conjuror I feel my strongest spells are the Area spells and that combined with the exceptionally weak mobs in an encounter of 4 or more makes it possible for us to decimate an encounter.Well anyway, this is what I am doing (more or less) does it help? Is it what you meant?Okoko the Mage</span><div></div><p>Message Edited by bettertryit on <span class="date_text">02-13-2006</span><span class="time_text">10:31 AM</span></p>

Lvl 60 conj on steamfont....now oasis here.Soloing is really dependant on what you prefer to kill. I can solo green and blue heroics with very little effort using the tank pets.I hear alot about kiting and the like, but imho the best solo tactic in dungeons is to stand and fight. An average battle for me vs heroic mobs goes something like this.Buff pet...flameshield, seed, defense stance, BP, Vestament.Send in pet, and as soon as he makes his first hit, i cast shattered...this will give you a couple secs of stun/stifle.......just long enough for pet to gain hate, and for me to cast fish, pyro pets.next i use harden to again stun, and continue with all dots ie frigid, quake, flash flood.Typically i need to follow these up with at least one HO, and a couple pet heals. I've successfully used this tactic vs even conn heroic, but the downtime is incredible.........the main issue is making sure that you can keep the mobs stifled long enough for aggro building. Vestament is huge for this, due to the fact that its ae comes from the pet and hits whenever the conj casts an elementally based spell.I can say my wife plays a fury, and has envied my ability to solo heroics since the first couple weeks of live.<div></div>
