View Full Version : Guildie Templar can't heal my pet.. and other questions ..
<div>Hi,</div><div> </div><div> Just hit lvl 13 and very happy with my new toon.. I have played for a few days now and have comeup with a few questions/problems and some observations. Please excuse me if some questions seem kinda stupid. Get a good laugh at them by all means, but please be gentle <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></div><div> </div><div>First, I have been grouping with alot of my guildies and when my pet is the tank, my Templar guildie says she cannot heal my pet.. It won't let her.. is this normal? Is there a level restriction for group members to heal a pet? She is 2 levels above me. </div><div> </div><div><strong>Stances:</strong></div><div> </div><div>Can I assume that when soloing I should use the Offensive stances (Unless heroics or named encounters..?) and my Defensive stance when grouped.. is that typically how it is done?..</div><div> </div><div><strong>Adept III's and Master II choices</strong>:</div><div> </div><div>I have read the post on the Summoner's Tower (ST) and it is a great post (Shows Pre LU19 and Post LU19 choices).. It says alot of "This is a great one to get at M2 if you are not getting it at A3" and so on.</div><div> </div><div>Can someone please just give a brief breakdown of the best choices (In your opinion) for me to take to be the most effective in groups and solo. I understand most wil say it really is up to me but again, I am completely new to this class and have only played a Tank class in EQ2 so this litterally is a whole new world to me.</div><div> </div><div><strong>Group encounters and Pet taunt:</strong></div><div><strong></strong> </div><div>Does the pet taunt taunt all mobs hitting it or just the one it is focused on? Also, my pet gets beat up pretty fast when multiple mobs are banging on it (Obviously).. I am able to root one maybe two if am lucky and my pet (and I) have a much higher survivabilty rate.. If I get a root resist, it is just ugly.. Is root magic based?</div><div> </div><div><strong>Pets</strong>: </div><div> </div><div>Is the "Tellurian" Pet considered the "Solo" pet?.. If so can I assume my future pets will be situational type pets and specialize in a specific type of fighting (I.E Fire/Cold based etc..)? If so then this to me would kinda suck as now I would have to know if mob "A" is cold based meaning he has a high cold resist or what not..</div><div> </div><div>It appears based on the spell listing it is a "Earth" pet. What does the "Earth" mean in Earth pet? I guess I can assume the fire/cold pets are used depending of the mobs are fire or cold based.. not sure what type mobs Earth pets are most useful on.. Air pets.. What is their specialty..Just as confused about air pets as I am Earth pets..</div><div><strong></strong> </div><div><strong>Various:</strong></div><div><strong></strong> </div><div>1. I did not get the "Essence Shift" spell.. I don think I missed it in my book.. Is this normal?</div><div> </div><div>2. I have seen mention that we get a magic based spell that is harder to resist than our other nukes.. What line of spells is it?</div><div> </div><div>3. I got a spell at like lvl 10ish called something like "Dispell Magic" though I did not see it on the spell list in ST.</div><div> </div><div>4. AoE's and breaking Mezz.. I have read posts on this here but unfortunaltely alot of it is french to me.. I just dont have a full understanding of the</div><div>different pets abilities and what ones AE and so forth.. Any info on this that may be a bit more understandable would be great!!..</div><div> </div><div>5. Are there any items I can gett that are pre lvl 25 to put in my charm/ranged slots that have INT, Power, STA, or AGI?</div><div> </div><div><strong>Observations and possible solutions maybe?:</strong></div><div><strong></strong> </div><div>1. Our pet heal spells start to suck really fast.. They are ok when you first get them but man they go downhill fast. I know upgrading them will help but</div><div>the increase doesn't seem that great.. and we don't seem to get the upgrades until quite a few levels. Not complaining, really just figured as a very nice solo class, the heals would have been a little better from the git go.. I will upgrade and see how they work.</div><div> </div><div>2. When my pet is not tanking, group members don't seem to like it when a mob turns to the healer and I take my pet off the main target to peel the mob off the healer.. Why is this? I guess I am just so use to tanking and taunting mobs of other members it is just a natural instinct to me not that I had to very often but when it did happen I just reacted.. man.. folks get [Removed for Content].</div><div> </div><div>I only do it when it's obvious the healer is going to die very soon.. It works pretty reliably for me and I don't mind dying as a result though that root we get rocks!! Saved my [Removed for Content] many times.</div><div> </div><div>3. Our power pool seems pretty adeqaute at lower levels.. I rarely run low on Power in normal solo/group scenarios. There are times I have got adds and obviously had to use more but all in all seems pretty good (IMO). </div><div> </div><div>Can't think of anything else at the moment.. Sorry for the book.. any info would be greatly appreciated.</div><div> </div><div>Thanks!!</div>

With the exception of the lvl 60 air pet, your tank pet will be your main pet when soloing. It can take the damage and taunt better than the other pets. Air pet is used for groups, and has higher DPS. Especially if mobs are resistant to pierce. Used to be slash and pierce damage, but now is only pierce. The fire pet will be your least used. It does decent damage against non heat resistant mobs, but tends to get into melee range far too often. They may break root, not mez. However, and this is important, AoE's with a DoT component make it next to impossible to re-mez a mob since the mez wont land on a mob with a DoT on it. Enchanters are not the only ones that mez, so group makeup determines when and if to AoE. Some of our buffs affect the encounter, such as Fire Seed. Use wisely as it can trigger the encounter and has the chance to break mez. At lower levels it probably is surviveable, at a raid, it can be disasterous.</font></strong></div><div> </div><div>5. Since I wrote the Adept III guides, I will tell you that the one's I've listed are the best overall for both grouping and soloing. Preference should always be in this order, in my opinion: Pets, Swarm Pets, Pet Stances, DoTs and Area Damage Spells, Buffs, everything else. However, if you stick to the guides I wrote, you can't go wrong.Typically when I solo, it's always with a Tellurian pet in Defense stance. Some players prefer the Aery pets in Offense stance. I'll let you decide for yourself once you're a high enough level to use an Air pet.The pet has both encounter taunts and single taunts. The Tellurian pet is considered the "Tank" pet. It has the least offense and the most defense. Most people consider it the primary solo pet, but it is also very effective in a group setting because of its ability to soak up damage. However it should never be used over a player tank, unless none is available or the player tank flat out sucks.Conjurors draw their powers from the four elements: Earth, Fire, Water, and Air. Tellurian and its derivative words are synonymous with Earth, Igneous with Fire, Aery with Air, Aqueous with Water, and so on.Essence Shift is still granted at level 13. Look for it. It's possible your hotbars got filled up, so it wasn't put into one. I recommend having two or three hotbars open at once, because you will have <i>that</i> many spells later on (I personally use four). We don't get a line of magic nukes that are harder to resist, unless you're referring to the Master Strikes. However upgrading your spells higher than Apprentice I will reduce resists; the higher the upgrade the less resists.Dispel Magic is not on the Adept III list since it cannot be upgraded. I will go back and make sure the main spell list is accurate, however. The FAQ which is sticked explains the pets quite well. For your Charm slots, look for Chaos Imbued Hex Dolls (do a search on the broker for <i>Pristine Chaos Imbued</i>, or ask a tailor about them in-game. Use <i>/who all tailor</i> to find a tailor). The best one in the game is a <i>Pristine Chaos Imbued Cambric Hex Doll</i> with +13 INT, but you can't equip it til level 50.Don't rely on your heals. Instead rely on your other forms of offense and support: Stuns, stifles, and flat out butt whooping. Your heals will never be potent enough, but rather are there to serve as patch heals. If you upgrade your pets and your damage spells you will rarely need pet heals.Your group members are idiots for not realizing you are saving your healer's life by using your pet to draw aggro. Explain it to them.Should be no reason why your Templar can't heal your pet. You sure she is targeting your pet and not you? If you're just duoing with the Templar, have her hit F2 twice and it should target the pet.
<div></div><p>Great info here. Appreciate you taking the time.. That FAQ is pretty nice along with the spell list.. Very nice work.. </p><p>Thanks again..!!</p><p> </p>

<div>I believe if your healer hits the button for you twice it will autoselect your pet.</div><div> </div><div>Example:</div><div>Healer = F1</div><div>You = F2</div><div> </div><div>Healer hits F2 twice and they should be selected on your pet.</div><div> </div><div>I believe this is how it works.</div>
