View Full Version : 5-6+ member heroics and the yoyo pet effect.

<div>OK here's the scenario. Your in a group (probably with someone who has some nice aoes), and your fighting a bunch of 5-6+ member heroics (ie a bunch of multi down arrows all linked). In the typical fight I send my pet in to attack the first mob, which is fine. A bunch of people use their aoes, and the first mob dies. But now the 2nd mob is almost dead, so I send the pet in to attack it, and usually before the pet even gets to the mob (I usually stay well back out of habit, since some mobs aoe, and we can't take hits worth crap), the mob is dead, so the pet runs back to me. Then I send the pet in to attack the NEXT mob, and so on. Is there any way to tell the pet to assist the tank or something? It just seems inefficient to have the dumb pet yoyoing like that. Did I miss something or do I just have to live with it?</div><div> </div>

Tell your pet to "stay put" when it's at the mobs, of course.<div></div>

<div>Yeah, either use the stand-ground command, or run yourself closer into of the fight.</div>

<div>and at least now we can summon our pets to us if we forget to have him follow us after the fight</div><div> </div>

<div></div><div>The stay put method is very efficient; another option is to quickly sic your pet on each target in the encounter and return it to the initial target when you've cycled through all the mobs.</div><div>This has the potential to cause a variety of problems, not the least of which being some unwanted attention to the pet (and subsequently you). The upside is that the pet will continue to attack all the mobs in the "queue" you've created until all of them are dead.</div><div>A little clumsy, perhaps, but it is at least an option for you to consider.</div>

Have your fire pet up - he's using AOE's.Blow the mobs up with your AOE's.Its a quick fight anyway and you get good xp - don't worry if its not the most efficient way...<div></div>

<div></div><p>Yup, Fire Pet + EV + BP + Shattered + Quake/Tremor = a whole lotta dead mobs quick</p><p>Since I know my pet will undoubtedly steal aggro, I send it to attack whatever the tank is, and then target though the pet.  My computer-guided pet will change targets faster than a human tank.  So, I can more effectively continue clicking quick-casting spells to trigger EV over and over.</p>

I have rarely seen any member of a large group like that survive past Shattered Lands + Siesmic Tremor.  I don't even bother with my pet against weak groups like that.  It's more efficient for me to just run up and cut loose those two AE's.<div></div>
