Is anyone noticing the Myrmidon is not taunting enough to keep aggro off you?I have a Adept III Myrmidon with a Adept III Transient Haven spell. Right, so it should keep aggro of me at _all times_ right? Is it bugged?

I am able to pull aggro off my pet if I go nuts. Ad3 / M1 combo.High quality spells is not a free ticket to cut loose. You still have to be careful.

At lv60, using Ad3 Myrmidon and Ad3 T.Haven and a single cast of Ad3 Blazing Presence at the beginning of the fight, I can hold aggro for myself and a Mystic going all out on healing/debuffing/nuking. On grouped mobs, for extra safety, I add Elemental Vestment Ad3 to the mix.

Ever since I switched from the Master2 Volatile Heaven defensive stance to Transient Heaven Ad3 defensive stance, pet will only lose aggro to scouts of sorcerers that are careless. Other than that, I can hold aggro for a tankless group. (takes alot of healing to keep pet up compared to a real PC tank thou)

So no... Some people are actually amazed at the aggro-holding possibilities of pets.

Message Edited by Loralor on 02-01-200611:47 AM

I'm with Stammie on this. The pet loses aggro so easily now it's driving me nuts. He'll engage a mob of like 3 non-heroic PoF Harpies, right, and one of them will break off instantly, before I even cast a spell myself, and just start beating on me. And even with Blazing Presence on (and Trans Haven of course), I'll have to target the 'rogue' Harpy who's beating on me with the pet, in an attempt for the pet to pull him off. And it will take the pet sometimes 5-7 secs (and half my health!) before he's able to pull this insane Harpy off me. NOTE: I'm not casting or even fighting the Harpy back. The pet's doing all the work, and STILL, he can't gain this Harpy's hate the way he used to, 1-2 updates ago. It's driving me nuts. Soloing just got a lot harder.

Having to cast Blazing Presence says enough for me: My pet is NOT taunting. I have to rely on his DPS to keep the mobs off me because he's only gaining aggro that way, and that way only.I've been solo'ing groups of 3 (non-heroic) easily with my M1 air pet because of his sick DPS (he can't lose aggro as a tank) but my Ad3 myrmidon just won't bloody taunt. At all.

Has anyone found out if this is a bug or on purpose yet?

I'm not having any problems soloing single targets or multiple targets with my Adept III Tellurian Myrmidon with Adept III defensive stance. Unless you're going balls to the wall with casting you shouldn't be having any problems. And no, I do not have to cast Blazing Presence in order for the pet to hold aggro.

I haven't noticed much in the way of aggro issues with my Adept III pet with Adept III stance. If I don't have BP on, my ranger groupmate can pull peel a mob off once in a while, but he has to really light it up.

Sometimes my pet has difficulties to hold the aggro, but I think is my fault using damaging spells Grup Effect. My solution is to send pet to the mob who is attacking me and stun mob (depending on the situation I choose to chain the mob and move a bit away leting pet finish with its first target), soon the mob will focus its attention at my pet.

I have not found that problem as long as I have him in defensive mode. I have not had a mob go after me for quite a while except in cases where the tank has lost agro and my pet will get it. Soloing ive been taking 3 mobs and trip up green and some blue mobs in many DOF places and have no problem. Its all about how much you cast you have to help your pet in dps not try to build up more hate. Just like when in a grp you don't want to cast to much to fast.

SO I just don't see this .... so yes mine is taunting.

Tyna 60 Conjuror Befallen

Well... I bring this chat back, cause after last patch my pet is taunting.... to much.

But hey!! is not a complain I love it, don't mind if petbrings mobs around to play with them. Is agressie chooses its own targets, taunts evrything. Is its style of life... and is me who needs to change tactics. I am quite happy now.

I use my Tellurian in Def mode (Ad3 both spells) most of the time since my wife is a Mystic. We also very often serves as a core for guildmates, where the Tellurian is the tank. Unless it is to careless swashbucklers or rangers, he rarely loses aggro.

I see every so often threads poping up saying Tellurian cannot hold aggro at all. I can say that I never had that problem up to now, and he is my pet of choice whenever I am not in a group with a real PC tank. I have no clue what is happening to you guys.

I cannot reproduce the problem. And notice that my duo partner is a Mystic. Anyone that raided with Mystics know that they have a weird bug at this time that makes them instant-aggro on pull. (rumors point toward their group buff that gives a mini ward) Yet, we never notice it with the Tellurian.

You have AGES old information. That bug was squashed LONG ago for Mystics.

Banditman wrote:You have AGES old information. That bug was squashed LONG ago for Mystics.

Yet my Mystic wife can get aggro on a pull simply by keeping her hands in her pockets if the tank pull with an arrow or a nuke instead of a taunt. No pre-wards, no group wards (other than with that miniward group buff) no nothing. It was solved at some point, but returned to a lesser extent about 2 LU ago for her. To this day, still no real clue as to what exactly causes it for her.

Gota jump in and also add that this same exact problem happens to our guild's mystic quite frequently... she just sits there...and get agro on pulls...sometimes dies... lol

Never happens to my Mystic, unless he happens to be the first person in zone for an instanced raid. In which case, that particular bug gets him killed on every pull. That one however is not Mystic related. It's a bug related to the first person in zone being the target of most attacks immediately on pull. In our guild it's usually our Dirge, who has by far and away the fastest zoning computer in the guild. You need to watch "leftover" Wards.

Thanks for the info Xalmat.

In other side... Maybe what happens with mystics is not a bug. As you kill first the mob that heals I understand that mobs do the same with us. Could be that ward. I dont know how explain it. But happens the same with our mystic is like his second name was: I am the main target mobs! in bright red letters.

I have an alt warden and most of my heals are over time. At the begining my tactic was cast pre-heal on tank before fight started so tank would be healed from first hit. The reaction of mobs was charge towards me instead the tank and he had difficulties to taunt and get aggro, many times I dead. Now I don't cast a healing spell before fight starts I wait until tank is hited and mobs ignored me if I am a bit away from fight but in healing radius. Could be with Mystics and their wards happens the same but I don't see it as a bug I always thought mobs have a bit of artificial intelligence and they act as we do, so maybe the tactic would be cast the ward after fight started. But not sure at all.

I edited to say that our mystic has the slower computer and connection and he is always the latest to zone from our grup so not sure that's the reason as I read int his thread.

Message Edited by Melianteas on 02-16-200603:07 AM
