View Full Version : When to give up INT
How much mitigation and other stats is enough to give up INT? I'm wearing alot of very low level gear because it has higher INT than any gear I have seen until 50 but the mitigation is horrible. Most of the pieces my level have higher mit, more hp, roughly the same pow but more agi or wis than the lower leveled gear I'm wearing. Also for charm slot I just acquired a blikritz lens (8int 8wis clickable 22-27 cold damage dot for 4 seconds which I would never use) I'm currently using 12int hex dolls and reluctant to give up 4int for 8wis, would it be worth it or should I just sell it?<div></div>

I think the best way to answer this. Is to paraphrase from another members signature. I forget whose"The avoidance and mitigation of my mage armor just determines the quality and thickness of my bodybag"INT is life!<div></div>

<div>Within reason, I always go for the int. In your example I would pick the hex doll.</div><div> </div><div>Would I take some 17 int no stat item over a 16 int item with better hps/power/satts? Probably not. </div><div> </div><div>Once you are past 50, it should be easier to find some good INT items that also have decent stats. </div>

<div>I too am a great fan of Int above all else. I love that sig by the way. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> I'd only really stop prioritising Int once I was reaching my Int cap without external buffs or potions.</div><div> </div><div>Note though: Some Raid focussed players are more interested in other stats. I'm only an amateur raider going along with the guild when needed, so that area of performance isn't a big deal for me.</div><div> </div><div>X</div>

Being a bit contrary to the above posters... other stats, especially wis/agi/hp do make a difference, and as a conjurer you are not as directly dependant on int as a wizard or warlock is.-Summoner pets and dumbfires operate at 100% even if you are naked, your personal int has no effect on their abilities at all.-Group buffs can push you over the int cap even with average gear assuming you have the right classes around to group with.-Having 5-10% more avoid and mitigation from non grey gear can mean the difference between being one-shotted when you peel a mob or surviving long enough for your tank to grab aggro again. Same with aoe spells on raid mobs... getting resists up so you can survive if an aoe tags you is more important than doing 5% more damage. Ideally you probably want a variety of gear around, so you can pump resists and hp when needed, and bring up your int when soloing or if you are sure you won't get hit.<div></div>

<div></div><p>Shortly after the combat update went in, I started really optimising my intelligence. I had a secondary set of gear that was better on mitigation etc which I planned to switch in for situations where that sort of gear might help.</p><p>When I died while soloing or at raids, I'd try a few times with my better mitigation gear and almost universally still died. It really didn't make a significant difference, so I stopped keeping a secondary set and focussed purely on intelligence from then on.</p><p>Most gear with good intelligence for your level isn't all too bad for other stats to be frank. I had a couple of grey pieces that I was still using but on the whole, the difference between the Int set and the Mitigation set wasn't all that great.</p><p>I'd agree that in theory, there could be situations where it might make the difference, but in practice I found that the number of situations where non-Int gear really did make a difference was vanishingly small. I could understand people giving it a try though. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p><p>X</p>
<div></div><p>Well one that is almost to the max of int (350 unbuffed) and extra int does not add anything to the mix. The buffed int is 450. So, if you are getting close to that level, I would start switching a few things to agi based. Int is our bread and butter, but Agi is important. It adds to the avoidance....hard to get damaged when you see.....</p><p>A Rujurkian Dummy swings and misses.</p><p>My goal is to be next to the 350 Int and like 150-200 agi. That should be like 30% avoidance....this also works against melee type spells, ie. scout stuns.</p>

<div>I have never been a INT hog and I feel it has paid off. I use what legendary gear I come across or quest because it seems to have the best all around stats and mitigation. I have more HP and power, and almost always better mitigation, avoidance, and resists than any other mage I inspect yet I don't have a single fabled item. If I remember right my INT is 315 and I have about 3200 HP and 4700 power self buffed.</div><div> </div><div>Like I said before I always laugh at the mage with 400 INT who gets smoked by 1 hit of a ^^^ mob.</div>

been a lvl 60 and raiding conj for awhile now and this is how i go about it:as a rule i put INT above all else, except in the few situations where i need resist gear for aoe's (tho i don't use my resist gear much and it doesn't make all that much of a difference), and the only other time i slack on the INT is when i find an item with lesser INT, but a higher flowing thought or in-combat power regen... as a conj i find power regen much more beneficial over INT.use what you think it best, this is just what i do. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><div></div>
