I remember a dev stating that they were going to look into making the fire pet stay at range when told to attack...Why hasn't this happened yet? , it's been a long long time problem.Currently , the fire pet starts nuking from where he stands , I get a random 2-5 sets of nukes from him while he is standing by me then he rushes in to melee range (and AE range).I then have to hit pet back off , wait till he stops by me and then set him to pet attack again for another random number of nukes before rushing in to melee range again to nuke from there. It's high time the devs just make him stop where he is if told to attack , if told to back off or the encounter mob(s) died he then would move to us.This has been a problem since EQ2 beta and is way overdue for a fix...

I would love to see this fixed... it would make my day... it would be a thousand times more exciting than riding griffins and carpets with pet... it is long over due but I imgine it is no small feat to fix.I would love if they would simply allow us to anchor him at the very least as in even if we send to attack we can anchor him while in attack mode to keep him from running... I imagine from a code stand point simply making the stay here command override the move to attack would be awesome... yeah would have to remember to tell pet to stay but once he is rooted he will stay there and nuke... I guess we can dream.

How about a leash... maybe it could go in a charm slot

Thank you Wullailhuit for starting a thread on this....this is one of my biggest annoyances for the entire Conjuror class.

I'm so sick of my fire pet running into a group of AE'ing mobs during a raid. What in godsname is he hoping to accomplish? What mage runs into a group of mobs on a raid to melee?! It's ridiculous. Personally i wish they'd set the Fire pet to move to max cast range and start unloading. Or if that's too diffficult just have him shadow the caster and cast from there (if appropriate).
