Im a lvl 26 conjuror and when i solo ^^^s i do fine until my pet dies the first time...i get him summoned again and everything but i can't get him to get life aggro back again. I try to root the mob before he dies so he keeps his aggro but its hard to get the root to stick...any advice?

Message Edited by Kasai259 on 12-27-2005 01:46 AM

Not much you can do. When your pet dies, ALL aggro it generated is instantly transferred to you. This is primarily to prevent chain-petting and other things. The best thing to do is to not let your pet die in the first place.

I've noticed if my pet dies, instead of summoning another tellurian, I summon a fire pet. That way it can cast/damage the mob that is now chasing my rat butt around. Once the mob is dead, thank your pet, and resummon a new tellurian.

Message Edited by a orc pawn on 12-28-2005 12:39 PM

Yeah switching to a different pet on recast can be worthwile. It depends to an extent upon the situation. If I know my stun/stifle are about to recycle I'll choose fire pet now. Use the range gained by the root for the fire pet to get some off, then use the stun/stifle to finish it off.

I'm not much of a one for kiting.... would prefer to die toe-to-toe than look like a girly hitching up my skirts and running. I'm an erudite... if you've seen us running before you'll know it isn't pretty...

X

ok pet dies heres what I do

1 don't panic

2. arcane bindings yes this got replaceds at 18 but it better than it replacement and a cheap spell to upgrade to adpet 3

3. recast pet rebuff pet

4. Petrify Stuns the target makes it forget about u for a 5 seconds

5. send in pet if send u in the pet before u stun it it will still hate u the most and go straight for u so always stun frist

if this has not worked then go to step 6

6 PANIC NOW! RUN ! REMEBER TO HIT CALL FOR HELP so you are not slowed down by combat and your health regenerates faster.

Why is arcane bindings better than immobilize? Lasts 10 seconds longer and I read somewhere root upgrades can take more damage before they break, but I have no idea about that one. Is arcane binding resisted less or something? I don't find root reliable enough at level 27 with adept III immobilize to root a named heroic and have enough time to recast a pet. Between resists and breaks I have had more success root nuking until swarm is available again. Especially true for me in dungeons where there isnt a whole lot of room to move around without getting myself into even more trouble.

Higher level roots are definitely preferred over lower level roots, primarily because the duration is longer.

in my experience immobilize is a weaker root than arcane bindings and as the question was what do when the pet dies I have found that doing it the way I posted works best. As conjuror's we get week roots because our pet is meant to take the roll of the root spell

Having had immobilize and arcane bindings both at adept 3 from my experience I find arcane bindings to be the stronger as it breaks less giving time to recast the pet stun and send pet back in again.

the duration does not make much difference what matters is if the root holds giving you time to recast and rebuff without getting spanked by the mob. With the root on you should NOT be putting in any damage.

All this being said I rarely do this tactic as it is only for emergencies and knowing what my pet can take on and what it can not take on is very important this you will find out in time. Once you get the solder pet everything will be a lot easier.

Roots that come after immobilize are of better use as they add a slow effect on the mob giving u some time to stun re-root and recast rebuff the pet.

Our roots are not meant to be used to hold off a mob in the long term while we nuke it to death like sorcerers
