Hello! I know I´m in the wrong board, I play a warlock normally. But maybe sombody can help me. A good friend of mine started to play EQ2, and was choosing an elementarist. So I group with him with my little alt, pala 25. single taunt ad1, ae-taunt master2. My problem is, if he gets aggro with his pet, especially in the beginning of a fight, its really hard (even impossible) to get the aggro back to me. Our question is: is it posible to toggle pet taunt off, or is he just using the wrong pet and should use another instead of the lvl14 adept3. Sorry, if my english is not the best. Rock on! Tellurian pets use taunts like crazy. Until your friend gets his first non-Tellurian pet, you can expect the Tellurian pets to constantly steal aggro. My advice is, while using the Tellurian pet, to go with the flow and heal the pet when it takes damage, good chance its tanking better than the paladin anyway, at least at low levels. But whenever you have access to a non-Tellurian pet in a group setting (Ie: Paladin + Conjuror), use those pets instead. Also, be sure to switch your pets in Offense stance when its not expected to tank. The Defense stance grants a major aggro boost.

<DIV>Another thing your friend should look out for. Defensive Stances for pet increase the taunt of the pet by a large factor. He should either use offensive stance and even no stance to reduce the hate his pet will generate. And of course, if it still grabs it, have him avoid any offensive buffs on the pet.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Basicly he has to tone down the pet to make it less hatefull then the main tank, but out of experience I can say that a high defensive pet (adapt 3 on all the pet and pet buffs) will tank as good or better then most tanks, at least below level 30.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Have your friend buff up his pet to full defense with its offensive procs and all. Then have your tank duel the pet. Should give you a general idea who can withstand a beating better.</DIV>

The lvl of the tank and pet is an important consideration too. My monk alt was lvl 37 in a group with a lvl 38 adept III tank pet. I tried tanking first since my monk is in all legendary gear (1 nice fabled), adept III stances and master I&II taunts. Against lvl 42 mobs (orange to us) the lvl 38 tank pet stood up <EM>considerably</EM> better than my monk. I was quite surprised actually, but I think that one level really made a big difference.

<P>As a Paladin, you have alot of skills that allows you to boost the pet's tanking skills. </P> <P>If the pet holds aggro better than you do, then shrug it off, cast yours +mit and +advoidance spells on him, load up offensive stance and pull out a nice imbued Greatsword from your backpack. Use your heal, ward and kick to help reduce mob damage to the pet. If you have extra power, go all out on damage too.</P>
I used to duo heroics/named with a conjuror for quite a long time from 20-40ish with my paladin. The pet holding agro so well, as well as me in the lower levels, made duoing things much easier for us. The pet would die often enough but using rescue would put it right on me to finish it, and using the pet as fodder and just recasting afterwards was faster than regening / healing myself aftwards. <div></div>
