The other day I log in EQ2. I was testing out my wife’s PC, it had been restarting and freezing up on her. Well after fixing the problem I was playing EQ2 to test it out see if it was working ok. I log into TS, and not more then 10sec. In I get a tell asking if I wanted to duel from an lvl 37 warlock. I was a 36 Conjurer (ding 37 last night *dose the happy dance*) I told him I was in the middle of Troubleshooting my system and did not want to duel (I did not want to duel and have the system restart or lock up on me in the middle) well then he tells me back that if I put up 10gold he will put up a master spell. I told him no thanks and Happy hunting. But after working on my wife’ systems and started to think maybe I should duel him. I have yet to duel in EQ2. But as a Conjurer I think I would have the upper hand against a caster. I would like to see what the other conjurers around think about our class in a PvP setting Caster Vs. Caster. At lvl 36 all my pet spells are adapt 1 most of my DD and DoT are adapt1 if not app 4. So here is how I would solo an lvl 37 warlocks. “Granted I do not know anything about the warlock class”

1st send in my pet “I would use Air Pet, he hits fast, not looking to cause damage just interrupt his casting”

2nd cast debuff

3rd cast frozen in time (to stun)

4th cast the following spells swarm of bats, aqua’s hunters, melee fire pet (lvl 35 one), and my Fire DoT spell.

5th now I would cast a DD spell then my AoE tremor (I Have the master 2) to knock him down in hopes to interrupt his casting and then follow up with more DD, if by then my stun spell is back up hit him with it again.

6th if my HP drop and it looks like I am going to loss, cast offer on my pet and heal myself back up.

My luck he was a warlock with high buff and all master spell looking for a quick 10gold and I had no chance of win from the start, but just I would like some input from other conjurer, would you have taken him up. And any conjurers out there PvP have any tip about our class as a PvP class???

Message Edited by feihunng on 12-15-2005 06:51 PM
Again use the air pet cause he a scout class which means those scout stunns plus your stuns and stiffles....I have seen conjurors kill warlocks like nothing.

I am no PvP expert, but usually the first person to get a stun/stifle off will win (especially with a couple low hp classes). I would start by stoneskinning during the pre-fight (that possible at 37? I don't remember), get as close to the warlock as possible to start so the pet is on him right away, send pet, and get tremor off, then proceed with shattered ground. After that go with your swarm pet, then I'd probably stun (I think FBT is not good to start out with, as its too slow of a cast time). At this point with all the pets wailing on him, you should win since he won't be able to get a spell off.

I haven't dueled a whole lot, but I've won most of my fights. Exception being against a bruiser, who just plain owned me. Nasty.

Message Edited by Blitzrain on 12-15-2005 04:05 PM

Hehe wait another 3 levels until you're 40 and get stoneskin. Absorbs three of any type of hit. After that no caster will ever worry you again in PvP I'd have thought. Air Pet, Stifle DoT, Dmg Stun = caster dead. You'd probably not even lose any health at all.

X

Message Edited by XtremSummons on 12-17-2005 01:53 AM

Have not dueled that much but one class to beware of is Ranger - they can easily Stun our Pets and then we are in trouble. Used Air Pet vs Ranger and first 2 duels, I win - Next 3 duels he wins because he Stuns Pet first thing and then uses Ranged attack on me. Need to figure out a Strategy for Rangers. Basically if Air Pet(with all damage buffs on-BP, EV,Seed,Flameshield) can get to a Mage or Scout Class, we will win. Not sure how well Air Pet would do against a Tank,Brawler or Priest class. But I did duel a Berzerker once with Tank Pet, and won. An item to consider questing for I think is Tartons Wheel - it has Void Shift and can port you short distances. Not sure how well this will work in a duel. I dont have the Whell yet myself. Also having the Summoners Staff with the 40% pet heal should definitely make a difference if a player decided to go head-to-head with Pet. Most of them just come straight for you, but if they stayed on Pet that heal could easily win the battle. Heals the Tank Pet at level 60 for 3,333 .

Another tactic to consider is to use the Group Earth Elemental illusion on yourself and Air Pet. You will look identical (except for weapons) and this may confuse an opponent.

Message Edited by ClawHammr on 12-16-2005 06:00 PM
