View Full Version : Attaining Adept III spells...

I know that, as a level 25 conjurer, it is entirely necessary to upgrade many spells as high as possible, some of which should be updraded to Adept III (such as Tellurian Soldier). Now, ever since I have entered TS, I have been attempting to harvest a jade or palladium from wind swept stones in order to have these Adept III spells scribed for me. My predicament? I NEVER get a rare drop from these stones! Sure, I have gotten rares from mesquite weeds and felled arbor, but none from windswept stones. I saw some palladium on the broker for about 22g and was very tempted to buy it, but refrained. How do you all go about getting spells up to Adept III...and how long does it take you to harvest the rares you need....and where do you like to harvest?

Secondly, are you harvesting all nodes in an attempt to force more wind-swept to spawn?

Reason for my questions is that when I harvest in TS I get on an average (again, just an average) at least 1 palladium cluster per harvest day. I have two adept 3 pets atm, a spare cluster for my palladium torqe and I have given 3 clusters away to friends and families. I do not harvest every day, only when I am working on tradeskills since I harvest my own resources.

So, all in all, it comes down to time and patients. After all, nothign good comes easy. At least that is how its suppose to be.

Zaymot

If you are into harvesting wind swept stones that much, there are 2 quests that have rare updates on Wind Swept stones in TS. I think one is the Axe from the Past Heritage. I don't remember the 2nd one, just that I had 2 quest updates per harvest while I was doing the PGT quest.

As for your bad luck itself, well it seems you got your luck while harvesting roots and trees. If you want to make sure you get rare stones, harvest only stones. Or, harvest everything, and sell the rares (and the raws. Food sells especially well) to get the money to buy the stones you need.

Good luck.

The second stone is Jasper not Jade. When I was harvesting tier 3 (TS/NEK), I was getting 1-2 rares a day. That was combination of roots, lumber, steel, and fine gems. Now since I am in tier 5, and my harvesters at that level rares have dropped off. Still have not gotten any rares from anything so far. It means that I need to harvest harder. It looks like you are at that point as well in tier 3. I would just go with the concept of rando generator being mean, and just keep on. Once you have the attitude, you will get 1-2 rares in one node.

As a side note, either use the rare roots for clothes, the wood for a wand and have it imbued. If you got more then you need, sell the rest and take the proceeds and purchase your adept 3's. There are a few you need: stances, pets, and if you have it to spend a nuke or get someone to make swarm of bats for you.

I got lucky last week on my conjurer... after harvesting TS for about 2 hours (mainly needing food stuff) and not getting any rares then all of a sudden I pulled 2 palladiums and a jasper out of 1 rock. 3 rares from 1 rock what are the odd's on that?

There are strong suggestions that the chances raise the longer you harvest. People quite often harvest for several hours and get nothing but then get several rares within an hour. The thought behind this is that when you've harvest a certain number of a node your chances increase dramatically and you thus get a series of rares. This counter may reset on camping or perhaps on zoning. The best thing to do seems to be to harvest a long period of time hitting as many nodes as you can without zoning or camping.

Keep in mind too, that harvesting everything else is often a route to getting money by selling the stuff on the broker, especially if that includes other rares that you don't need for spells. Drink resources, normal clusters, roots etc can all provide you with a decent income. Add onto that, grabbing repeatable quests for killing stuff you find around you while you're harvesting and you can make a long harvesting session bring you quite a lot of money all in all... with which you can then buy yourself your spells rares.

Also, look for quests that you can complete solo with reasonable ease which give items that sell well on the broker. Conjurors are good soloists and can often make a good chunk of money that way.

Also, learn to shop around for spell rares. Every time you hi8t the broker do a couple of searches for the spell rares and when you see a lower priced one grab it - go directly to the room where possible to avoid broker fees. You'd be surprised how quickly you can get yourself the rares at a reasonable price if you just put in the time and energy to get the money together and shop around.

X

Some days, I get one right at the start and then nothing. Other days, I get nothing for hours and suddenly it's there. There is absolutely no pattern. It's at random and if you harvest enough, you'll be as lucky as the next guy.

People who claim to harvest for weeks without getting anything are simply not doing it systematically and/or tenaciously enough. You have to find an area, and a time of day, where you can follow a certain route and be sure to find nodes up all the time. The nodes are all on the same respawn times, so ideally you make your route so that they pop just when you get back to them. This keeps less organized harvesters away, because they find nothing to harvest.

Utok, 25 conjuror -- Vork, 55 guardian

Just harvest wind swept rocks then. That's what I do, hard to get rare root out of a rock. :smileyindifferent:

well, at first, I don't believe I was trying hard enough to get rares (though, I did acquire two sparkling flowers and one sparkling stone). Now, I harvest the Griffon field area mostly, clearing out almost all harvest nodes I come across. Now, I chose this location because it is one of the only places in TS that I have seen that spawns windswept stones. Anyone else have other suggestions as to where I hunt?

My favorite place to hunt for resources in TS is the skeleton pits by Ruins of Varsoon. However, unless you're of a decent level (especially since the changes), this place can be a death trap. If you're 20's-low 30's don't bother with this place.
Ruins of Karana (Skeleton fields). It is a good location as well. Also you get exp if you are in the 20's....most of the time harvest...you get hit pet takes the mobs...finish harvesting....and assist pet for final kill shot. When i was harvesting TS, I would do Ruins and then Griffins then back again.

thanks for the advice. To be honest, im pretty sure I have no idea where Ruins of Karana is...but it sounds vaguely familiar, so it may be on my map somewhere. i will definately check it out (and thanks for the XP suggestion too, i was looking for a good place to solo)

Ruins of Karana are the huge craters in the area of the ROV entrances.
