Not bad I guess as far as T5 fabled go. Is it really the only Summoner specific item in the game, or just the first one anybody has found? :smileytongue:

Where does this drop? What's the refresh timer on the pet heal?

Edit: Oops yes it's a T6 I misread.

Message Edited by Mystique on 12-11-2005 01:14 PM

It's T6 of course not T5.

Refresh is 15 minutes and it's a godsend at times. Works out as a 4,000 heal on my tank pet.

The item also has the benefit of being about a Fabled item that you can solo at the level you can use it.

I still use my wand and Stein most of the time, Wand + Tarton when soloing. I only switch the caduceus in when I need the heal.

It was well worth the 5 hours it took me to camp it. I know others who did it in 1.5 and 3 hours, so it's not all too bad - and did I mention it's soloable?

X

Do you mean the first pool you drop into when you enter the zone?
Xalmat
12-12-2005, 05:21 PM
Yup. Zone into Living Tombs from the Sinking Sands side, drop into the first pool. Kill the five mummy spawns right at the front side of the pool between the pool and the first building (either going to be 2 1-down mobs, or 3 2-down mobs). These five spawns do not wander, but they do see invis.Once those five die, your named or PH will spawn and start pathing towards the pool. Kill the named/PH, and you have a chance at the weapon dropping.
Message Edited by Xalmat on 12-12-2005 06:22 AM

Only from a Master (metal) chest that I've seen, and it doesn't drop the metal chest every time. You'll be there for awhile.
Message Edited by Xalmat on 12-12-2005 09:08 AM

I got lucky and got mine in under 45 minutes. It's a great staff so when I finish the Peacock quest I will have to figure how to work this in to my gear lineup.

The heal staff is nice for jsut about the heal only when soloing really. A guildie of mine killed that mob and all i had to do is run over and get it lol

As for the peacock reward linked earlier... i think its not as good as it should be. If u have your prismatic 1.0

http://eq2.ogaming.com/db/items/PrismaticRodoftheScale.php

and pick just about any other T5 fabled secondary and you already have better INT. Not to mention the stats bonus's. You wont get quite as much power from using the prismatci 1.0 and a secondary but damage wise u can easily beat the prismatic 2.0 and keep your power regen.

just my opinion tho

The Prismatic is nice yup - but I'm not sure it's better even with a great secondary item.

I currently have a Stein in my secondary, which is about the best I've laid hands on so far for the secondary slot. That gives +14 Int which together with the Prismatic Rod would give +39... the Staff of Second Life gives +40.

The Staff gives 105 Health where the rod gives none directly and the staff gives 2.5 times as much power as the Rod.

The Staff has better power regen bonus than the Rod and the proc on the Staff is miles better than the Rod's.

Damage is also twice the Rod's.

I'm sure you could find something to put alongside the Rod that might get it up closer to the Staff.... but... well you'd have to find it first.

To be honest, I probably won't bother finishing either quest in the end. I never much liked quests that have loads of big epic things to kill and can rarely be bothered to go through the hassle. Both are nice things though.

X

I wrote this quick guide to doing it for my guild website. It may help a few I guess.

Zone into Living Tomb by going down to the Northern Oasis in Sinking Sands and running in through the gutter and clicking on the boulders to get into the zone. It's not instanced so you may meet others there.

You'll need to clear the few mobs in the gutter straight ahead of you. These are easy 50 or 51 average mobs. Take care though, these mobs are social so although not grouped they will join in a fight to help others of their kind.

Run straight ahead to the end of the gutter and just run off the edge. You will land in a pool of water and so not hurt yourself. There is a group of 5 weak aggro mobs 50/51 that stand around the edge of the pool, so be ready to deal with them. Don't use PBAoEs as there are all sorts of other mobs around you don't need to aggro.

Once you have cleared that group, head straight ahead to the big gravestone. Stand with the gravestone to your back facing the big doors of the building ahead of you. Around you there are now 5 groups of smaller mobs that are aggro. One straight ahead, and one in each corner of a square surrounding you.

You need to kill all of these groups completely. Take care not to fight close to the building or the steps to the building as there are wandering tougher mobs that will add if you're fighting close to them. Best is to pull back to the gravestone.

Once all 5 groups are killed, one of two things may happen:

1) 2 Spectre type ghost mobs will come out of the big doors on the building ahead of you. If that's all, then you kill these and will not get special drops this time round. The spectres are level 50 I think

2) The 2 spectres come out and an undead type mob spawns out of the ground at the top of the steps to the big door. He's called the commissioner something or other and he's the big baddy we want. He's level 51 or 52 - in any event blue to me at 53.

Chest drops include the necklace and tunic of Aman (not great), Adepts, Master Spells and with some regularity Yaddhed's Caduceus. People have variously reported 1.5 hours, 3 hours and (for me) 5 hours of camping to get the Caduceus, so it's not a mega-rare drop.

Wait for a whle after killing whatever comes out of the door and the 5 groups of mobs will respawn. Rinse and repeat.

Message Edited by XtremSummons on 12-13-2005 05:20 PM

With hotkeys its VERY easy to swap this into your equipment slots without opening your bags mid-combat.1. Put your Primary and Secondary items of choice into your bags, and hotkey them to your hotbars.2. Hotkey the Caduceus from your bag.3. Hotkey your primary weapon slot. It also comes in handy if you want to use an imbued wand, i might add.4. Equip your Primary/Secondary items of choice, and leave them there.5. When it's time to use your Caduceus, click your Caduceus hotbutton. You will automagically deequip your primary and secondary, and equip your Caduceus. Then just click your primary weapon button, and instant 40% heal!6. When you're ready to re-equip your normal primary/secondary, just click your hotkeyed primary item, then your hotkeyed secondary weapon. If you're in combat, do be aware that there is a 5 second delay between swapping items mid-combat.It's that easy!

When using this staff over Prismatic, you will notice you go out of mana 5x as fast. I only use this staff for soloing/duoing, on raids its Prismatic all the way.

I'd say Commissioner spawns 1 in 4 and he drops this 1 in 6.

I can also confirm it does NOT matter what order you kill the final Mob...commissioner went down first when mine dropped.

When my guild saw it, my conjourer friend headed over (I cleared another ring event while waiting) and then showed him the ropes.
