View Full Version : Master I Spells -- No big Deal?
<DIV>Hi all:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Myself and another Conjuror had a large debate over weather Master I spells were worth the cost / effort.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I said that they were and she said that the differance between Master I and Adept III was close.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Anyone know exactly the differances in dmg between our Tier 6 Master I's versus Tier 6 Adept 3's?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>How about the HP differance between our tank pets at Master I versus Adept 3? (I saw on another thread a few of you got your Master I Tier 6 Pets <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

Depends largely on the spell itself. Some spells are highly valuable and worth almost every penny (pets, pet buffs especially). Others you can pass up and not really miss anything (direct damage nukes, stuns, roots). Basically rule of thumb is, if it's worth an Adept III, it's worth a Master I.I can say that, roughly, Adept 3 spells are 33% better than Apprentice I, and Master I is roughly 50% better than Apprentice I. Draw your own conclusions based on that.<p>Message Edited by Xalmat on <span class=date_text>12-04-2005</span> <span class=time_text>10:12 AM</span>

<DIV>There is no answer to this. The question "How much worth do Master I spells really have?" always needs to be qualified with "What do you want to do with it?".</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm perhaps a little more pragmatic than many and perhaps a little like your friend. The way I decide whether I need something is to look at the improvement in my game-play Vs the cost. I honestly doubt that for me Master I spells will ever be worth the cost of purchasing them. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'll give you a different example: I have a pristine fashioned nacre orb. I'd never use a pearl to make a pearl orb or buy one. It would gain me a couple of points to each stat and have little or no direct effect on my actual gameplay. I do want to add to my int a little more, but I'll do that with armour upgrades that I can also get as imbued with that nice heal for 1/4 of the price.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The pearl orb really isn't that good and if I had a pearl it'd go straight to adept 3 upgrades - not on an orb.. or I'd sell the pearl and use the money to get something else I need that's useful.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So, look at Master I spells. They are perhaps a chunk better than master I spells, but they'll never be better enough for me to want to spend the amount of money I'd need to spend to get one. Nor are they special enough for me to want to go on endless raids in the hopes of one dropping.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The big advantage I'd see from Master I spells is probably a better landing rate against orange/red heroic mobs - and specifically raid mobs. As a solo specialist, I wouldn't go after these. For XPing, you shouldn't be choosing orange/red mobs anyway really because yellow/white gives better XP over time on the whole (some exceptions). Raid mobs are where they could really make a difference....</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>...but then how much of your game play is made up of Raids? And how often do you care about your performance compared to the other 20 people who are there? Some people do I know... they damage parse every raid and set great store about being high on the DPS list. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If you have endless platinum crammed into your wallet and can't find anything that could improve your performance more... then OK they might be worth it. But I'd wager that for 99% of players Master spells will never really be worth the purchase from a gameplay point of view.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>X</DIV>

<P>Going right from Apprentice 1 to a Master 1 is usually worth it, going from Adept 3 to Master 1 probably isn't.</P>

Going from Adept III to Master I Aery Hunter is worth it at level 60. Going from Adept III to Master I Aery Stalker at level 59 is not.

That honestly depends on which spell. For instance, lich at adept III does some damage when you cast a spell and heals you for a bit and regenerates 1% of your total mana per tick. 5000 mana = 50 mana per tick. However lich at master I slightly upgrades the damage and healing, but regenerates 2% of your total mana per tick 5000 mana = 100 mana per tick. Which is a must have for necros. So clearly, this is worth every penny and ounce of strength it takes to get at master I. Also pets are our lifeblood, so getting them to master I is a must no matter what. Maybe a master stun or fear may not be worth the time or money, but it really depends on the spell itself.

<P>Get all your pets master 1. Everything else is gravy. </P> <P>1.pets</P> <P>2. swarm pets and damage spells like quake, tremor etc, and pet heals.</P> <P>3. everything else is really not needed at master 1. Just slightly helpful</P> <DIV>Fizbiz</DIV> <DIV>55 conj everfrost</DIV> <DIV>Senior Member of The Brotherhood</DIV>

imo most every master is worth it. some of them appear to be slight changes but they are a lot of extra damage over time, or extra damage absorbed, ect. i think the only worthless one appears to be vehement rock, i've never understood why that spell increases your pet's defense when it's absorbing 3 hits then wearing off..., all other masters seem worth it imo. <div></div>

<DIV>I'm not logged in so I can't check - but I'm pretty sure Vehement Rock also includes a defense buff as well as the three hit absorption.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Similarly, Stoneskin also includes a detaunt as well as the 3 hit absorption for the conjuror.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>X</DIV>

I know it's not supposed to be a big upgrade, but still...
