Hi all! I'm new to the world of EQ2 and I've started creating a mage class (half-elf). I'm only lvl 6 right now (still at isle) but I'm going to become a conjurer. Are there any crafting profession that is better for a conjuror? I'm thinking about becoming tailor or sage but not sure yet. Any advice from expert conjurers? Thanks

Message Edited by Hammerino on 11-27-2005 05:40 AM

I'll outline them for you, specifially how each tradeskill class will benefit a Conjuror:Sage - Make your own spells. Only real benefit is to fill your spellbook with App4s when you can't find a decently-priced Adept 1 though. Also, you save on commission by making your own Adept IIIs (if you can find the rares), so that's a perk.Alchemist - Make potions. Kinda pointless in my opinion, though. At level 55, I almost never, ever use potions.Jeweler - Make your own jewelry. Unfortunately much of the tradeskill jewelry outright sucks until your 50s, except for the Imbued Rings.Tailor - Make your own armor. This includes a full suit of cloth and backpacks, as well as hex dolls. Unfortunately, stats on tradeskill armor suck pretty badly, except for a few select pieces. You also need a rare to take serious advantage of Hex Dolls.Armorer - Useless for Conjurors.Weaponsmith - Unless you like daggers (you won't), also useless for Conjurors.Woodworker - Make your own wands and totems. Wands are pretty big, but again you need a rare to really take advantage of their stats. Totems are like potions. Some are good, but most you won't bother with.Provisioner - Make your own food! Comes in handy, and also pretty easy to level up. Plus food is usually in high demand at all level ranges.Carpenter - Fluff class. If you want to make your own furniture for your house, this is the class to be. Unfortunately, other than making Bank Boxes, this class will not help you adventure. The most popular choice seems to be Sage, followed by Tailors and Provisioners. However, there is no shortage of Sages to make you spells, so you won't be looking hard to find someone to make that App4 or Adept III you really want.
Message Edited by Xalmat on 11-27-2005 09:29 AM

I picked Sage, it's OK. Jeweler probably would be better.

Go for Sage.

As a Conjurer you dont have a huge food/drink requirement, vendor bought is usually adequate soloing (in fact I dont bother eating when solo), you might need better drink in groups and when raiding. You can loot/buy adequate clothing.

The one thing that will help you xp quicker (especially solo) is the quality of your spells.

I've chosen sage for my main.Until the mid-30s i had mostly self-crafted spells. And i still get quite a lot of requests for spells from my guildies.

Provisioner is an absolute winner for benefiting you directly.

It's not only that you make your own food and drink but also that you're saving money in not buying it. Most of the stuff you'll have made with other professions will use a rare and the rare makes up the bulk of the money. Usually they're not consumable either.... so being a provisioner saves a lot more money than any other profession I think.

You can make enough money for ticking over as a character, if you sell the stuff you make for XP grind.

If you want to make good money from provisioning though, by selling goods to others, then you need to invest lots of time - far more than for other classes. You have to harvest yourself if you want to make a good profit and you have to produce large quantities because the profit per unit is very low. All in all, with harvesting and crafting it's probably one of the worst in terms of profit per hour.

I'd pick it again if I were given the choice to change.

X

Or do what I did.....go Sage, Wood, Tailor, Chemist, and Food.....yes I hve no life

I agree the Sage is probably the best, followed by the Tailor if looking for only one crafting toon.

I went Tailor... Hex dolls sell for to dam much... so i stuck with making my stuff and besides once you can make T6 robes and armor the STats on them are great and you can make a good penny off them

I am going Provisioner. I have good Sage and Tailor friend (lucky me hehe). We have only 1 provisioner in guild and he is part time. So, I will also be helping guildies.

Oh just one other thing came to mind just now - Provisioners can also make themselves food that buffs intelligence. It tends to cost a fortune on the broker - if you can find it at all (because it uses drink recs).

Handy to be able to just whip it up for yourself.

X

This has been said in above posts but I thought I would provide my input as well. :smileyvery-happy: If you are looking for an easy (and usefull) tradeskill profession then try provisioner. That's what I did. I harvest when I solo so I don't have to buy the stuff off the broker. It can save you a lot of money. ~Mahs Munchkins of Mayhem
