Will my mage pet ever not commit suicide and run into combat

Why has this not been fixed... tired of my mage pet running into melee range just to be killed by a barrage or some AE...  were we not promised this would get fixed many times... why is this pet still running into melee range when is a freaking caster!!! Please for the love of god fix this thing or let us at least anchor it and it will cast still...  pain in the butt. <div></div>

awwww... man had to rain on my parade didn't you.  ;P well I wish they could let us anchor it and set it to attack...  thing dies so fast to riposte and barrage waste a lot of time recasting it. <div></div>

I hated to rain on that particular parade, trust me. A rooted Firepet would be a very nice feature. But it seems harder to program than it looks.

I thought they assumed when they made the change to the mage pets losing their melee attack they wouldn't run into range... of course that didn't happen. I could swear there was a Moor post that said "Derp de der tum tilly tata, summoners rejoice!" or some such about it. <div></div>
