<DIV>..and I have been so bored that I have decided to play his EQ character =)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Anyway, I have watched him play and even played a wizard to level 20ish or so.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My husband's char is a level 57 conjuror and I am looking for a little help.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Can someone give me a very basic overview of what I should be doing to play him? Which pet should I use? </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also, where should I go to do a bit of exping and have some fun (solo obviously until I know what I am doing)?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>What pets should I use? What buffs should I have up? (on me and the pet)?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks a lot for any help in advance.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Hopefully he will be home soon</DIV>
He does know about this, right? <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> <div></div>

Just like I know what he is really doing over there :smileyhappy:
In that case, I shall explain my opinions <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> To get started, use Tellurian Myrmidon and the defensive stance - <span class="postbody">Transient Haven I think is the high one you have. He'll hold aggro and stay alive pretty well as you get the hang of killing things. Once you get use to things a bit, I much prefer the Air pet with the defensive stance, as he does more damage then the tank does, which helps you kill quicker <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Blazing Presence is a great buff to cast , but it only lasts for 5hits or 30secs, so don't just go hitting it randomly <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> It does a bunch of extra damage when either your pet hits the enemy, or it hits your pet. Vehement Rock blocks 3 attacks against the pet, which can help you survive some adds/etc as you heal a bit between nukes. </span><div></div>

I'd recommend learning the character in Sinking Sands, fighting blue and green monsters, ranging from down-arrows to single-up arrows; then move on until your more confident. They'll get easy quick :smileyhappy:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now, if you haven't already, check out what all your spells do. You can find a list here: <A href="http://eq2players.station.sony.com/en/classes/index.vm?classId=29" target=_blank>http://eq2players.station.sony.com/en/classes/index.vm?classId=29</A></DIV> <DIV>See how your husband has already set them up, I"m sure he used some fairly rational grouping; but make sure you know what's where and what they do.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now onto pets:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Earth (Tellurian Myrmidon): "Tank" pet; highest hitpoints and lowest damage. He taunts mobs and takes the beating, giving you time to focus on damage. Good choice for safe soloing and has an encounter-based taunt so he grabs all mobs in a group.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Air (Aery Stalker): "Scout" pet; hIghest single-target damage, middle of the road hitpoints (but MUCH fewer than earth). This pet is another good choice for soloing down-arrow mobs or mobs under your level. Can't take a beating like the earth pet, but kills mobs much quicker. Combined with Blazing Presence (pet buff), mobs drop quick. When using this pet, make the most of him by keeping the mob stunned (Harden) and stifled (Shattered Land). This pet doesn't taunt, so he doesn't grab all mobs in an encounter at once.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Fire (Igneous Magi): "Mage" pet; highest damage, least hitpoints. This pet does high spell damage to all mobs in an encounter, but has very few hitpoints. Not a good choice for traditional pet-tanking, and is best suited for groups. Play with it against some weak mobs to get a feel for it.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>That's a very brief description of our pets. Can't tell you what specifically to use, because they're all good for something and you should just experiment to get a feel for each one.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now then, before we go charging into battle we need to buff our pets. Refer to the spells link for detailed info, but I always have the following on my pet:</DIV> <DIV>-Aggravate or Transient Haven</DIV> <DIV>-Flameshield</DIV> <DIV>-Blazing Seed</DIV> <DIV>-Conjuror's Insignia</DIV> <DIV>-Blazing Presence (this spell only has a 30 second (or 5 hit) duration, and only is cast right before or during fights).</DIV> <DIV>**You also have Vehement Rock, a 30 second duration spell that increases pet defense and absorbs 3(?) hits. Long recast timer, emergency use mostly.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Self Buffs:</DIV> <DIV>On yourself, have Magis Shielding, Geotic Rune, and Phlogiston.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>For your first fights, I'd go to Sinking Sands start out killing grey mobs around the beach, then make your way to the Twin Tears area (take the carpet at the docks). there you'll find some blue(green?) gnolls and lizard men. As far as strategy, start out with earth pet in defensive stance (T.H.). Send in pet and start casting your damage spells. first and foremost, read what each spell does and experiment with them all. Know that Quake is AoE, meaning it hits any nearby mobs if your fighting them or not, so be careful. Cast swarm pets early so you get the best out of them (Aqueous and Pyrotechnic). Use Harden and Shattered Land to keep mobs from doing damage. If your pet is about to die, use root and summon a new one (this is only when fighting very difficult mobs; but I do recommend getting used to rooting adds, it's very useful).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>That's all I can muster at the moment, but I'll be happy to answer any other questions that pop up :smileyhappy:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>
