I quit playing aroudn june . I was a 33 conjuror who was tired of waiting hours for a group .

Is there any reason to come back ?

It sounds to me from quickly skiming this forum that the conjuror still has no place in this game .

Is this still true ?

no place? we're great dps, excellent soloers, and have the best versatility of any class. i love my conjuror and wouldn't trade him for any other class. *note: tho we're ok now, most of what i'm talking about is gonna be post-revamp*

I know when I was playing the only pet worth a [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] was the tank pet . And of course a player could tank much better than the pet. I also knew that our skills for damage sucked.

It was a bad time and trying to find groups was almost imposible and we would be used when they couldn't find who they wanted. It sounds like nothing has changed though and some patch might change things . Though i do remember all the broken promises we got for many months

Well it already seems that you have your mind set.

I have enjoyed my conjuror from day 1, and still continue to do so. I am a very important asset of any group I join, and I often make or break what the group is capable of killing.

After the combat changes (Sept 12th), the various pets will have different skills, and we will have pet stances. So you pick the pet and the stance for the situation at hand. In Beta, I am able to fill in as a damage-dealer or tank, or even switch from one to another as needed.

Tellurian line in defensive stance tanks very well, and Igneous in offensive stance dish out damage like a wizard. The Aery pet is smack in the middle of the 2, being able to tank for a bit in defensive stance if the group is in trouble, but making very very respectable damage from the back of mobs.

Our swarm pets are castable every battle.

Lots of other changes, most good, few bad. All in all, I think we will be part of the winners of the Combat Changes, simply because our pets now work as they should.

Since they took the down arrow away from our pets, we're actually in good shape even before the revamp.

However, depending on your server, the LFG prob is probably not any better, and is likely worse, as population continues to decline. Of the chars I leveled to 50 with, the only ones that have not quit are the ones in raiding guilds, and they are tired of doing the same instances over and over and over and over. They log in less and less frequently. If the expansion doesn't go over well, you might be returning to a pretty empty game.

BF2 is pretty cool though. :smileyhappy:

Well i used that 7 day pass and i played yesterday . 2 hours and no group so I logged off .

Looks like things haven't changed. And with what you guys are saying about servers becoming empty it sounds like the game is going to die soon anyway

So far since I started this game I've went through a 21 Assassin, 16 Druid, 17 Sorceror, 12 Warrior, 14 Brawler, and a 12 Crusader before I made my Conjuror. Out off all those toons I've have yet to feel this good about this game as when I play my Conjuror. I had to switch servers to Najena in order to experience an active playerbase and I guarantee you if I go to TS(currently 21. I will be grouped in about 15 mins. The problem is, my Conjuror is such a badass I don't really need groups that much in order to gain xp, I just group for the fun of grouping and being able to see more challenging content.

You're right about the tank pet being the only good one atm, but who cares? The tank pet can easily tank solo mobs 4-5 lvls higher than it and I've taken down heroics who were a lvl above me with ease(except the Pit Champ, oh he still fell to the Dwarven might but he was a tough bastage indeed!). None of my other toons could do that and still be such an asset to groups.

IMO Summoners are one of the best classes in game in every aspect. We are very good at soloing, bring a lot to groups, and can easily hold our own in a raid. Sounds to me as though you're just a bitter person and quite frankly if you play on Najena please don't come back, your attitude sucks and one less disgruntled DD leaves one more spot open for a guy like me who loves dishing out the damage and having fun!

There are several factors as to why your not getting groups so fast. The most relevant are the fact that there are less people playing the game lately ( many hit 50 then backed off to play other games and are on less frequently ), the other reason is that since Splitpaw was introduced many people go there instead of overland areas because its easier than running here and there. If you played EQ1 you'll remember LDON and its a similar situation as what that did.

However, with the expansion it's hard to predict what will happen. Some people who are currently used to playing their toon a certain way will be dissapointed, others with toons that werent playing as intended are getting fixed and will be happy. When some of those people that stepped off the game for a bit until expansion come back, they may or may not like the changes. So some people may go, but on the other hand, new people may climb on board. I think conj's will, for the most part, be happy with the changes to their class.

Your best bet is to get on the game, find a guild ( preferably with active players ) and group as you can, solo in Splitpaw or where ever until a group invite comes along. Once you get to the higher levels there will be more players to group with since alot of players are now in the 40-50 range ( even the more casual ones ). And when the expansion comes out there will be new areas there that support high 30's, 40's, and up groups. Many people will want to group up again ( IMHO ) to check out the new content.

Ellestil 50 Conjurer Najena--Shadow Syndicate

Message Edited by Ellestil on 08-27-2005 11:09 PM

As far as getting into groups, I remeber going through out 3 different zones with some shouts and ooc's that I'm lfg. I mean their was a time in the game for me being very very slow and almost like logging off but I never did. Glad it never got to me like that also. One thing I can say is to make those friends in game. Chat with them, BS alittle no matter what the topic is. Have them on friends list. Not saying this is what you should do but this is what I did.

Had so many people on my list from all different guilds and etc. If the LFG was going very very long and slow then I'd start sending tells with the people on my friends list. Always chatting first but then of corse would want to start up a group or may i join your group conversation. Some other times I would love trying out tactics and dieing hehe. Dieing is to me one of the best parts in game as far as soloing cause then you'll learn and know damm I shouldv'e done this 1st or 2nd and etc. After awhile it got to the point where I didn't even have to put up my LFG cause as soon as I logged on I'd have tells from a few people. I'd pick one and talk to the others. Explaining to them and once again chat with, BS with. Never leave them hanging cause their's going to be a day you want or may need their help and etc, no matter what lvl.

Got into a guild that would take me all the way, see everything this game has to offer. Bunch of really really great guys all around. Now I found myself soloing for so some quick cash and as far as quests I have so many done, herits, world events, AXS quests and etc. But now not as many cause of it's slack of my interests. Raiding? As much as possible. Once you find your place in a guild things get so much better. Now I do see the slack of people grouping and etc cause people are jumping in guilds and doing things together. I have a few still that are LFG most of the time. I hear it all the time "God I hate this blah blah I hate this game blah blah" but I think if you really want it you can do it. I believe people kill the game for themselfs not the game kills them. The game has alot to offer in my opinion.

Well I'm done off to post on other crap, GL!!!

Message Edited by Oscurida on 09-01-2005 07:38 AM

Its obvious the Original Poster has his mind set that Conjurors suck and "he just knew" that they would still suck.

Ok man, whatever go to WOW or play some baseball outside or something. Its all good.

As far as you LFG whine, you seem to forget that conjurors and Necro's are pretty much the most solo oriented class in game. It's really easy to solo, and really quite fun.

But ALSO, we deal good damage and are welcome in groups. I raid Darathur and all the end game MOBS at this time and am always in the first group and have the highest dps on the raid about 90% of the time. I fail to see how that makes the conjuror class "suck".

So, conjurors can solo great AND are great in a group. Your just a "Glass is half empty" kind of guy.

You need to make connections in game with others, form relationships with people you have grouped with before and look them up when you log on.

Once you start to get to know a few reliable people you can form your own groups quite easily.

You sound like the kind of guy who would sit around screaming "LFG, LFG !" for like 30 minutes , then scream some profanity and log off. If that is you then you should reconsider this game for sure. WOW is a very very simple game, that would fit your personality and level of thought.

Fizbiz 50 conjuror Everfrost

Message Edited by Smeegill on 09-04-2005 08:57 AM
