Falaanla, fellow site admin for the Summoner's Tower, reports the following in an AIM chat with me from the Fan Faire:<blockquote><HR>DoT stacking IS being fixed. The dots WILL stack from what I heard at today's panel. You won't be able to cast multiple of your own, but two conjurers will be able to stack the same one.and pets are being looked at too.The issue is that fire based NPCs right now just are set to do more damage than scout based ones. that's bein fixed.<HR></blockquote>He'll be posting a full report within the next couple days.

"The issue is that fire based NPCs right now just are set to do more damage than scout based ones. that's bein fixed." So does that mean Fire pets are working as intended but air is not?

I dunno what to make of that to be honest.

<DIV>Sounds like our fire pet is the way it's designed.  Wouldn't be too bad if the pet didn't act like it was a tank.  Wish I could root my pet AND the MOB.</DIV>

<div></div><span><blockquote><hr>Xalmat wrote:The issue is that fire based NPCs right now just are set to do more damage than scout based ones. that's bein fixed.<hr></blockquote>I think this means that they (SOE) are just working on the fire pets (and setting their damage higher than that of scout pets), not that fire based NPC's are set up to (inherently) do more damage than scout pets and that THAT will be fixed. </span>Hope I'm reading it correctly <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> <div></div><p>Message Edited by Izudin on <span class=date_text>06-13-2005</span> <span class=time_text>03:26 PM</span>

<DIV>Speaking with some of the designers at fanfaire, I got a new appreciation why it's taking so long to fix our air/fire pets. People talk about a combat revamp - but don't I think this quite explains how challenging this is. What they are actually doing is re-vamping the whole spell system (of which pets are just one element). As part of this they are re-looking at every classes relative DPS.  The challenge is this comes down to one guy who is doing the whole thing for 14 classes and 5 spell tiers or so within each class - so it's going to take a few more weeks to get anything out to test.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>In our case our DPS relative to wizzies/warlocks is probably a little out of whack. It's not just us conjurer's though - I think it's fair to say that wizzies/warlocks significantly out damage all other casters. There's nothing to say though that after the combat revamp, our spell/pet damage isn't going to be tuned up a bit from where it is now, while wizzy/warlock damage might be tuned slightly lower. Who knows what they'll do to bring things closer together. I wouldn't expect identical damage output between classes - but I also wouldnt expect one class to be grossly overpowered by the time they are done tuning.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also - with the INT changes coming - since pet damage isn't planned to scale with any INT we wear - for us to benefit from the INT changes we'll need to do significantly more damage from our DOTs / DDs than we do currently.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It's going to be hard to tell how it all pans out until the spell changes hit test and we can run some parses. I would encourage you all to log on to test and try it out and post some feedback when it hits test.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The other promising news I heard though is even though spell growth based on level is being eliminated - they are considering retaining this ability for pets - so that our pets would be the exception to this and continue to work this way.</DIV><p>Message Edited by laedyana on <span class=date_text>06-13-2005</span> <span class=time_text>09:26 AM</span>
