OK so i'm playing around with my coercer (lvl 60), I dont tend to solo at all on the toon but I gave it a go and find that I really like the challenge of solo'ing.Few problems though, I have the ideas down I kinda know what to do but doing it is rather different.I mez a mob and another mob strolls by and aggro's even though i'm nowhere near the aggro mob, I never knew mezzed mobs caused aggro to other mobs.My main problem though is gettng hit from a distance by mobs who I have rooted. I normally mez, debuff, spellwhip, root then break mez. I then joust in the pet (caster) but find that the majority of the time I am getting hit from distance by these damm mobs.At first I thought I was fighting a caster mob who was casting on me but I know thats not the case all the time.Ok so what am I doing wrong, should I be rooting and stunning at the same time? Should I mez the mob up again after all my stuns have come to a end and wait for refresh timers?Got to say, i'm loving the solo aspect of this class, it's so much fun trying to take on mobs higher than you. I got a triple up heroic down to 50% the other day but again I found his insane long distant attacks kicked my [I cannot control my vocabulary].

I hear you there.. the long distance attacks can hurt badly.  I have noticed that some of the mob types that would typically have a ranged attack (non-mage) will still use them while rooted.  Scout mobs do this especially from what I have seen.

<DIV>There are a few different approaches you can take to this. I tend to do the following...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>When my target is trash  (e.g. No bigger than single up heroic) I usually mez, root, debuff, mindbend, auspex, spell scourge, Cataclysmic Mind then send the pet in. Your target gets stunned by the procs not to mention the big damage that usually pops up off of the first few CA's. If its still alive, stroke, ego, rinse repeat. If I'm lazy and using a corpse candle in Bonemire I'll just start with confoundment send the candle in and follow cast my debuffs and toss on mindbend. Usually most critters don't get past the mindbend. The difference for me is while soloing I want the critters to use CA/Spells to proc auspex, spell scourge & CM.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>When fighting named mobs I never leave them unmezzed. They are mezzed 100% of the entire fight excluding the window necessary to yo-yo nuke with a pet or PBAE with Sonic Boom. I usually always keep, Marred Pysche, Hex Doll, Root, Mindbend on the target at all times. If you aren't familiar with the solo yo-yo tactic you can find it all over the boards including the stickies. Just work on your timing be sure to pay attention to your pets casting animation and learn the rythme. Think outside of the box on some of your abilities and make the mob attack to to your advantage. If you have to stop ranged CA's don't forget to use your harrowing silence. However my choice would be spell scourge and CM.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV><p>Message Edited by Kardgar on <span class=date_text>01-24-2007</span> <span class=time_text>09:19 AM</span>
