Can someone explain the use of this skill, I dont have it yet just reading the description I cant work out what it does. From what I gather it reduces the aggro radius of a mob? How does that work? For example if i'm in a group and there's 2 mobs close to each other do i cast daydream on the mob we want? what happens then, does he attack me and not social aggro the guy nearby? So is it a pulling spell?

If you want to run by mobs and not attack your way through (I used to do this in SoS and PoA a lot to get up top faster) You just cast it on a mob, or a group, and it turns them non-agro. You can get a little closer than you normally would... but be very careful... dont get TOO close or they'll still attack you. Also be careful... they can "resist" the effect, in which they normally attack you.

You can also ... if fighting with social mobs.... If two different encounters are close together, you can daydream one encounter and pull the one that's still aggro, and the one you made daydream will not come along with the one you pulled.

im a very bad explainer... so I hope this kinda helps =)

wow that sounds like a awesome ability to use in packed dungeons. Do upgrades to that AA increase the duration or the resistability of the spell?

Seems like my experience with Daydream is a bit different from some others. If I see two social encounters next to each other, and I Daydream one of them, I can body pull the other much more safely. However, if instead I cast a spell on the still-aggro group, the pacified group still comes after me, even though they are shown as non-aggro. I haven't quite worked it out as to whether Daydream shortens the call-for-help radius of the pacified encounter, or if so, by how much, but it seems clear to me that it does not eliminate it altogether.

The effects of DayDream DO NOT work while in combat. Soon as you pull your weapons out, it "technically" wears off even though the debuff icon is still there. DayDream basically reduces the mobs proxy / assist aggro to a very small radious. (I think it's like 1 or 2m). So if you walk on top of the mob it WILL still aggro, but it's a great way to proxy pull two very close mobs with out having to worry about the other or to just stright up walk by things to save time.Another good use, if you tank pulls and can you see a wondering mobs that he didn't, hit it with DayDream BEFORE you do anything else. Long as you land it before you were in combat, the mob will normally path right by the group and not even aggro. Funny to watch the reactions. That's about it.EDIT: "Do upgrades to that AA increase the duration or the resistability of the spell?" Both.

Message Edited by Cattastrophy on 01-18-2007 10:39 PM

I don't have this on my coercer yet, but it sounds similar to the 'Soothe' spell my inquisitor has. I've used Soothe to do some really cool things.

Here are a few places where my inquisitor spell soothe came in handy. This type of spell is somewhat limited in it's use but it's definately a nice utility and shouldn't be forgotten.

I had a quest in steamfont that required me to harvest some rocks in a gully full of ^^ mobs. Every node I found had a mob right next to it (mining the node). I was able to solo them, but I found it much easier to soothe the mob, stand opposite of it and at max harvest range, and harvest the node. No fighting needed.

I've also been able to use soothe to get around on mob and body pull something beyond it, you just have to make sure not to attack the mob you're body pulling until you're back out of range of the soothed mob.

If invising through a dungeon you can find a safe place to uninvis and soothe a see invis mob. You can then avoid that mob pretty easily and get past him.

I was confused about daydream for a long time too, but this is what I've discovered it does. It lowers aggro range of an encounter. It has no effect on the encounter calling for help. Thus, if you have two encounters right next to each other, cast daydream on one and body pull (proximity pull) the other, you'll get the non-daydreamed encounter single. If instead you cast any sort of spell on either encounter, you're not dealing with hate range anymore: you're dealing with call-for-help range. Both encounters will come. To decrease call-for-help range (actually to eliminate it) you need the Sever Empathy AA ability. If you use Sever Empathy, the reverse of the above applies: if you get close to the S-E'd encounter, it will aggro; if you cast on it, it will come solo. your friend, Schmutzen P.S.
I use Daydream often. All the above stuff. To grab a harvestable is nice, to keep from having to mezz or charm when your just passing through.

I have used it to pull a group past another. So Daydream the front, cast on second and only the second came. Did it to pull Witch Doctors out of the mix in Steamfont rather than have to clear all. So, dunno. Seems like they don't respond to a call for help, at least in that example. Did that literally last night. Anyway, really cool power.

Hrm, I'm not familiar with those mobs. You certain that they are social? My experience is exactly like Blumfield. It reduces aggro radius for physical proximity but does nothing for launching an attack. I wonder if the Witch Doctors are unpopular in their crowd and nobody around them cares if you nuke em.

Wow everyone seems to forget that it is also a deaggro spell during combat, is it not? Guess most coercers over look that.

Yeah it's also useable as a deaggro during combat, but it's a crappy deaggro at best. Blink and your AE fear are the way to go on raids... that and a well timed AE fear is a great way to screw with pullers on raids too ~_^ but I didn't tell you that.
