I dinged 27 last night and as the boards all say, I die and die a lot. I group mostly as I have never been able to solo.

First-

In group (PVE) with master terrible awe and master debuff spell, I get resisted like crazy. I mean like 8 out of 10 times, I get resisted. This is against orange 1 arrow downs and yellow 2 to 3 arrow ups. Granted, they are suppose to be hard mobs, but resist 80% of the time to ALL my spells (sib master included)? Before you ask, this was against many different types of mobs over 3-5 hours of continual hunting.

Second- Can't solo, cause I can't find a safe place to do it (Vox server) and all I have is Coerce adept 1. It doesn't work for more than 1 pull usually and that is with the charm aa's maxed. Before you say, Get Master Coerce, as you all do, I have tried for 3 weeks now! No one is selling it or Beguile, higher than adept one! I check constantly and no luck. Anyone know where it or beguile drops?

Third- PvP. I get resisted non-stop by blues in PvP. I don't honestly know which spells to use in what succession for max efficiency. My DPS couldn't kill a fly (my wifes Fury hits them for 600-700 3 out of 4 times, I hit them with Mind Splice for 90-130 1 out of 4 times) and it's frustrating......

Obviously, I must be doing something wrong or we get a lot better later. Thoughts please and no flaming thank you.

At 70 and all mastered out etc i am not having much issues really for the most part. Maybe down to 60-70% on unbuffed and very orange mobs, but a single debuff or swaping some skills gear on fixes that problem. I can see how it can be a big issue at lower lvls though without masters and maxed out skills or lack of skills on gear. It sux.Satinah/Salinah

The first piece of advice I can give you is to "hang in there". Like all classes, we get better with age, specially after the 40's. Now I know, that is a long way off to you currently, so I have some suggestions for the mean time.

I only solo'ed with my coercer, (lvl 58 currently), because I wanted a toon different from my dirge main that I could solo with effectively. While at your level, the master coerce spell was just too much, around 12p for a lvl 20 spell or whatever. At any rate, I had a friend make me the adept 3 version of coerce and used that. While much reduced from the master, it is still alot better than the adept 1. So with adept 3 coerce, I was able to take out groups of greens and blues and whites, but not really anything heroic. So don't expect to solo those big heroic names is all Im saying.

The other thing is debuffs I would imagine. I know you are duo'ing with your wife alot, or grouping, but resists have gotten worse for us all. At the higher levels you need alot of subjugation skill to get your spells to land well, as at the lower levels too I would imagine. However, you are unlikely to find much subjugation gear at your level. There really isn't anything to help with this unless you have deep pockets for masters and adept 3's, and subjugation gear.

Keep two things in mind though, we are not a dps class by any means. I mean we can show some respectable dps, but our main fuction, (in my opinion), is to augment the group, with power and crowd control when necessary. If all else fails and you just aren't liking the coercer, maybe a different class will help fill the void. However, I think the coercer class rocks and he will be my main once I get him to 70.

Good luck friend and good hunting. Don't forget to read the stickies and check out the pet suggestion page.

save all your AA to get the +40 subj asap, it seemed to me that the minute my subj skill went over it's max for whatever level i'm at (so lvl x 5), the resists start goin away. since very little gear sub t7 seems to have +subj, you can fix problem with the AA line that has the +40 subj (always ferget if that's stam or wis or what).

while that may true - getting your subj up over your lvl cap is the answer to the resist problems you're asking about.

definetly sounds like a subjugation issue, I know if I don't have my sub at least maxxed if not over cap a bit I get resists like crazy, added 6 sub from gear and BAM resists disapeared. you absolutely have to get a master charm though, your goal in life should be one of any tier post lvl 20, SH has dropped the lvl 20 coercer though rarely, I hear crushbone dungeon is dropping them and of course runnyeye is the place to go for beguile master 1, had dominate drop in cazic thule, spend all of your time named farming in groups until you have one, if it wont drop for you try to trade any you do get for it, advertise a lot and at the very least get yourself an adept 3.

Big big diff if charming lvl 39-40 mobs compared to 41-42.

the resist only applies to the stun after charm break, I have a coercer freind that uses coerce master 1 to charm corpse candles just fine, I used mine until lvl 48 when I got my dominate and never noticed resists against the charm itself changing excpet if I had just leveled and hadnt maxxed subjugation.

I'm also a Vox Coercer and, at level 27, found Nektulos very safe for soloing and writs. The Blacktimber Treants are decent pets, by the way. You might also wish to consider the Splitpaw expansion. All of the mobs scale to your level and, because it's almost entirely instanced, you don't have to worry about PvP while you perfect your skills.

I'll be happy to make you an Adept III charm spell if you can find a raw for me. I think it's Palladium at T3, isn't it? Send me an in-game mail or a tell and we'll get you set up.

Auntee

42 Coercer, Vox

Gramma

57 Coercer, Crushbone

Wow, I appreciate the help! So how in the heck do I get my subj up? I cast every fight, nothing seems to raise. Anyways, I will log in and see where I am at actually and re-post if neccessary.

I just had a guildy make me Beguile adept 3 for when I hit 33, but there is a Master Coerce available from another guildy. Which should I use? I am 28 now, getting a level a night, strictly via groups.

I would love to hear how people solo with and without the pet and PvP as well. I will look at the link one of the posters put in here as well.

Last night in EL, I counted 15 resists in a row on orange mobs. Yellow mobs half that constantly. PvP, forget about it. I am almost so sick of the resists I wonder if I have enough patience to continue playing this class. I have a twinked Troub in our group playing a casters song and I am STILL getting resisted a ton! /rant off

Anyways, again thanks for the feedback and I will keep plowing on. Maybe things will change at 30.

once again subjugation is king to resists, solo a ton against blue con stuff and chain your stuns, stifles, roots and mezzes to get sub maxed, also master of adept 3 of any tier, you can still use master coerce at level 70 so grab that the moment you can, however if you don't have the patience to stick with the toon make sure that master goes to someone who can, not saying your not good or anything just saying I would hate to see a master scribed a week before the toon is abandonded, which I have unfortunatly done before /sigh.

I almost quit too when before I hit the Coerce spell level. In fact I almost quit 2 times. What kept me going was my RL best friend started one the some time I did and was crushing me in leveling. So after listenting to how he was playing, I tried again. I'm glad I did. I am level 35 now and have less then 2 days played time and a lot of that is just running around and waiting for groups to get togehter. The Coercer is so mean if you practice strategies involving root, mez, and stuns along with a caster pet (which gives a ton of DPS if you can get AD3 or M level charm) that when you do get an add or 2 you wont even flinch. Actually I like it when I am solo or in a duo and we get adds, then I really get to flex the corecer's muscles and show other what we can do.Also once you get and play with AE mez and AE stuns life will even be that much better. In a group, like stated in other posts, I will still toss in a syb from time to time, but its really all about stuns and stifles, debuffs, and mana feeding your healer or whoever really needs it. Along with using the spell line that takes power from mobs and gives it to the group. when my wife (fury) and I duo we can take out a group of 4 or 5 and still be 3/4 power or better... and SHE is the tank. :smileywink:If you dont have a Hex doll, get one. Between that and you debuff that will knock down the resistance by about 600 points. Now, I dont want you to get the idea I dont die or that I dont die a lot... cause I do. When things go bad for a corecer they go really bad and really really fast but eh, it happens. Its worth it if you ask me... doing what we can do is worth the pain. Besides, it cant be that bad if I am leveling as fast as we can.I hope you stick with it... if not you can go get a wussy illusionist ... :smileytongue:

Message Edited by Krackus2k on 01-04-2007 02:45 PM

I find this the easiest way to quickly defeat solo mobs:

Send in pet (after buffing him with Bravado and Annoying Demeanor)

Cast Melancholy, Scarred Psyche, and Anguish

When mob is at about 65% health, cast Sybillant, Despotic Mind, and (when you get it) Spell Lash

Your mileage may vary.

Most of the time the mob will never approach you. And even if it does, it's dead after it smacks you a couple of times.

For multi-mob encounters, I prefer this method:

Send in pet

Cast Bewilder and Discomfiting Gaze

Cast Ego Strike and Spell Lash (when you get it)

Your pet is just about finished with the first mob, so target the next one and either DoT it to death with Melancholy and Anguish, or wipe it out with Sybillant and Despotic Mind

When your stun/daze combo "wears out," the mobs shouldn't have much more than 50% health each, so they'll fall pretty easily.

The only time I ever lead off with a mez is in PvP and when facing a heroic multi-mob encounter.

Keep workin' it.

Auntee

44 Coercer, Vox

Gramma

57 Coercer, Crushbone
