I know that coercers offer a lot to grp and raid ,but solowise i just couldnt bear past lev 20 due to charm notorious breaks ,sigh ,but coercer is one class that always got my attention ,i always felt there is more to it than meets the eye. I understand that question may be a little unorthodox but recently i discovered farming to be a very attractive feature and i heard a lot about coecers killing yellow heroicks with the right charm and pet so i am curious if coercers can farm heroicks in the same manner as summoners do? summoners atm seems underpowered for farming , myself being a proud ,sigh, (in past) owner of half fabled half legendary necro adn i noticed that necros right now cannot kill some named 9 levels below with the best spells ,equpment money can buy so once again Can u farm? and if u do What strategies do u use for farming? Ill be very grateful if u take a little time off and reply . Ty be wating on your replies!!

With master charm and a decent mage pet Coercer's imo are the strongest farmers in the game, pretty much anythign you can mez you can kill.

I play on a PvP server, but my coercer is used 90% of the time for farming and funding my other characters. I put a basic guide in the below thread, there is other ways to do it, but i personally find this the easiest/quickest method.

http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=27&message.id=16562

There is a good pet listing link on this forum which should help find a suitable pet, check out the petwiki thread...

Couldn't agree more. Just to give you an example I am a 49 coercer and just soloed a 47 heroic tripple up in one of the new eof zones - won't tell you which one or where....about 30 mins after I killed him I got a tell from somebody asking me if I would help them kill a named, I asked which one and they told me the same one I just killed so I asked him what lvl and class he was and he told me he was a 54 swash, so needless to say I felt very good about being able to solo that guy when someone 5 lvl's above me couldn't.......also to let you know - if you can stick with the coercer and take the time to learn them they are one of the most fun and rewarding classes in the game imo....Anyway hope that helps .

Very nice replys guys ty verymuch . To tell the truth i was expecting something about the few past and upcoming nerfs making ppl play coercers less and less with charm breaking after eof even more :smileytongue:: But it seems like i found a class that can still fill all roles even after notorious eof game system. Thx again:smileyhappy:

Just make sure the pet you charm cant kill you in a couple of hits, then charm breaks dont really matter. My favorite pet is 3-4 lvls lower than me, a no arrow solo mob and pushes out around 1k dps. I've been afk before when charm has broken and was still alive when i returned to the pc :smileytongue:

U said 3-4 levels lower , when u charm it does it scale to your level?

Ok, as a new coercer, worked my way up to 24, and at 25 I'll get the aoe mez, but I'm trying to farm Wailing caverns, outside farming I am fine as I'm able to get a slightly more powerful minion and work my way around. So my question is, how do they farm in instances? The triple up named slaughter my slave, and unless I get luckly with root, I don't have the damage output without the minion to effectively kill really any but a select few bosses. Non-instance soloing, I seem to be doing quite alright, taken on a few and have figured out some stuff, does it get easier later on for instances, as I enjoy parking a toon at a said level to farm varsoon for instance.

Level and number of arrows dosn't really matter with the way i play as my pet hardly ever gets hit...

On the otherhand if you are going the pet tanking route (which does work to a certain extent) try to get a healer pet as many levels higher than the stuff you want to kill as possible. Greens beating on an orange pet for exmple shouldn't do much damage, with stuns, stifle&daze etc. *Not tried pet tanking since EoF so the mitigation changes may have changed this.

As far as instances go it all depends on what pets you can get your hands on. I mostly grouped my way to 70 so did very little solo instance/dungeon farming thru the lower lvls. Seeings there is good pets in Nest, HoF, Den, Vaults im guessing most will have something usful. Really tho, for instances your best of getting a group or finding a necro to duo with, its far far quicker and should end up with a lower repair bill. When i attempt to solo an instance its normally more for the challenge than anything else. Good groups are pretty boring to me with the exception of Nizara/Cstle Mistmoor so its nice to have some challenging content every once in a while via trying to solo something which shouldn't be possible.

Message Edited by Jibber Mong on 12-01-2006 01:15 AM

We just need to tell people that coercers have a high death ratio. When the pet breaks in JUST the wrong moment, (Like when the mob you are fighting resisted your root for the 4th time in a row) and you all of a sudden have two mobs barreling down upon you. Ouchie. But, coercers in general just sigh at the stroke of bad luck, find another pet and go [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] those two mobs. Unless they get hit by another resist streak.

" We just need to tell people that coercers have a high death ratio." Dude... [Removed for Content]... yeah. We can solo just about anything... but it takes several deaths to figure out how. And by "several" I mean a whole [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] load... lol
