<DIV>Yeah, I know there are other threads, and honestly I read most of them.  But I am still noobin out over this class and plus I am still new to this game.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I play on Vox and have a group I roll with.  PvP, the EQ2 way, is a little frustrating for me as I am not a twink, have no hacks, no tradeskills and alas no money.  But hey, I plan to stick with it!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My questions after reading a bazillion posts is,  are the Coercers with the recent changes a capable class if well played on a PvP server?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Will they get one shotted most of the time, leaving no time to react?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Do mez, stifle, root and stuns land on other people, or are the resists too high to make them viable spells?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have charm app1 and it lasts like 30 seconds.  I am told, charm master 1, can keep critters for an extended period.  How long is an extended period?  Do you typically have a pet in PvP?  Are the more of less effective than when they are in pet mode versus mob mode?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I was on the fence between this and a Warlock.  I like doing damage quickly, but prefer to "control the crowd" if it works as intended.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>What is with these "reactives"?  I don't get it, but most people sound like they like them.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Any help for noobishness would be appreciated!</DIV>

<DIV>If you have a regular group with a good tank/healer coercer's are awesome to have around despite being a bit squishy :smileytongue:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><EM></EM> </DIV> <DIV><EM>Will they get one shotted most of the time, leaving no time to react?</EM></DIV> <DIV><EM></EM> </DIV> <DIV>Depends which class it is, if a ranger, monk swashy ect gets the jump on you 9 times out of 10 you'll be dead before you get a spell off. Not such a problem if your rolling with a solid group and see them coming.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><EM>Do mez, stifle, root and stuns land on other people, or are the resists too high to make them viable spells?</EM></DIV> <DIV><EM></EM> </DIV> <DIV>Since the recent patch these seem to land alot better in T7, also in a group a resist here and there isn't going to mean instant death, unlike solo.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> <DIV><EM>I have charm app1 and it lasts like 30 seconds.  I am told, charm master 1, can keep critters for an extended period.  How long is an extended period?  Do you typically have a pet in PvP?  Are the more of less effective than when they are in pet mode versus mob mode?</EM></DIV> <DIV><EM></EM> </DIV> <DIV>Firstly if your serious about playing your coercer you need to get at least an adp 3 charm (master does 3 times the damage). Having a pet while grouping depends on the make up of your group and what pets are available where you are hunting. If you have a melee heavy group i'd personally go for dps buffs over 3 conc's on a charmed pet. Typically mobs get weaker when charmed, 2up, 3up dosn't really make any difference. All mobs get nerfed down to solo no arrow mobs once you have charmed, the only thing you gain from having a 3up mob as a pet is a faster death when charm breaks :smileytongue:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> <EM>was on the fence between this and a Warlock.  I like doing damage quickly, but prefer to "control the crowd" if it works as intended.</EM></DIV> <DIV><EM></EM> </DIV> <DIV>It does work in PvP but the durations are reduced and immunity timer's takes away alot of our ability to CC in pvp. That being said you can really screw over healers in group vs group pvp. Its nothing like CC vs PvE mobs, but you can take key classes out of the fight long enough to ensure the win. Just a shame many know this, i'm normally one of the first to get targeted.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> <DIV><EM>What is with these "reactives"?  I don't get it, but most people sound like they like them.</EM></DIV> <DIV><EM></EM> </DIV> <DIV>We get 3 types of "reactives" whch are basically spells which react to certain things your target does. I dont remeber the low lvl names so i'll give you the general idea..</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Melee reactive, target takes damage for every sucessful melee attack. Triggers 3 times (5 with aa's) and does xxx amount of damage.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Spell reactive (group spell) target takes damage everytime they cast a hostile spell. Triggers 3 times (5 with aa's) and does xxx amount of damage.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Power usage reactive, for every point of power target uses, target will take xxx damage. So if they cast nuke which costs 200 power they take 600 damage (depending on lvl of spell)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>In summary if you have a good group to back you up i'd go for the coercer. Awsome utlity, challenging class to master and the best solo coin farming class you can get. As for PvE (bound to be some of it) a good coercer in your group makes pretty much everything trivial, missing a tank or dont have a healer? np just perma stun and neither is needed :smileywink:</DIV></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV></DIV> <P><SPAN class=time_text></SPAN> </P><p>Message Edited by Jibber Mong on <span class=date_text>11-28-2006</span> <span class=time_text>12:32 PM</span>
