<DIV>Hi kids. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm back after a lengthy absence and have rolled yet another Coercer. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Yesterday, I attempted one of my favorite old solo techniques without success. Remember how, in the old days, you could hit a ^^^ mob with a nuke to damage it a little and then charm it, sending it to its death against another mob and gaining experience from your pet's death (since you did at least one point of damage)? I did everything as before, but gained no experience when the pet died. Can I assume that this method is no longer effective? Have the "rules" changed? Can I EVER gain experience from the death of a pet that I've previously damaged?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Good to be back again, btw. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

This has been gone for a while, and good riddance I say. It was cheap, and obviously overpowered. Yes, I did it.. and I tried to limit it to areas that wasn't monopolizing content from others, and only when people didn't want me for grouping... but it still felt like I was pressing the easy button. Honestly, no one class should be able to solo higher con heroics <i>faster and easier</i> than a full group. And yes, it was faster and easier. The amount of foul mouthed, loophole seeking players that came over to the Coercer class sky rocketed very briefly before it was fixed. I say foul mouthed because I remember the posts when this was taken out, heh.Yeah it was fun for a bit, kinda like how playing Doom in God Mode can be fun on a lark. But by-passing the difficulty of the creature isn't "beating" the creature legitimately, and it was changed to give us exactly the amount of xp it was worth.. none.<div></div>

<P>Thanks for the quick answer. </P> <P>Any idea how this works within an encounter? For instance, if I charm one of three mobs in an encounter and, during the battle, the pet dies, will I lose the encounter experience?</P>

You will get the bonus for encounter xp.. but you will lose out on the xp from the individual's death. Sucks that legitimate usage gets hurt, I know. It was the main thing I talked about when the whole hoopla was going on.<div></div>
the whole thing was a sham, thank goodness it ended, I think the only time I ever took xp for charm killing heroics was in groups during that time since I dont kill heroics unless needed for quests, one thing does confuse me though, several times I have noticed that I did get xp when a charmed pet dies, I cannot duplicate it, seems to happen completely randomly but why would I ever see "you have gained experience for defeating the encounter" when my charmed mob dies, seems to happen a few times a night and sometimes with mobs (like glyphskulls) that arent part of a group, any ideas?
