<DIV>Greetings, fellow Coercers. I played EQ2 a couple years ago, when the game first came out. I played an Erudite Coercer and absolutely loved the class. I remember feeling like I had a special role in the group and that Enchanters were slightly set apart from all other casters because of this role. Unfortunately, I moved and my computer wasn't up to par with EQ2's standards anymore, so I cancelled the account for the time being.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Just recently I got a new computer and after a long time away from the game, decided to try out the Trial of the Isle and see how things were back in Norrath. Upon logging in, I noticed firstly that the entire class tree system was gone! A level 2 Inquisitor running around? That was odd... I wonder why SOE decided to eliminate completely the class tree. This must have changed everyone's spell and ability lines drastically! </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The second thing I noticed, was that there were a few Illusionists running about the isle... with PETS. I literally gasped. Please don't tell me that they've made Enchanters into a pet class! Frankly I'm not sure how this would work. I remember being in dungeons, working hard to keep the crowds under wraps. Certainly there's no time in there to play with commanding a pet around. (And why do Enchanters need a pet, anyway?)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I remember a certain feeling of value back in the day, upon reaching your final class at level 20. I still see classes as Freeport/Qeynos counterparts. Is this not the case anymore? Maybe I'm being full of doom and gloom for no reason, as I'm NOT opposed to change at all. Maybe someone can clear this up for me!</DIV>

The took out the idea of sub classes for the sake of re-play value, ie all mages were the same for the first (10?) levels. Back at release we had a charm spell (Beguile) we recieved at level 38. LU 13 (I think) they added the charm line through all the tiers and extended duration and improved reliability. </P> <P>The charm spell is a big help in solo, but group/raid I usually do without it. I know what you mean on the whole subclass thing, I've been half and half on it, but since most of my characters have passed that phase it really doesn't bother me too much.</P> <P>Illusionists have their Personae spell and we have our Charm spell. The big DD we got mid 20's they changed to a reactive spell. Nithrill has this thread '<A href="http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=27&message.id=10318" target=_blank>The history of the Coercer'</A> which hightlights whats happened. Coercer is still a great class, I was opposed to the charm line originally, but have since grown to like it. We're not exactly a full fledged pet class, so it's possible to fight without a pet solo, and as I've said I don't use it a whole lot group/raid though that can be situational.</P> <P> </P> <P>Good luck,</P> <P>Nolus 51 Coercer/70 Sage</P> <P>Kanreh 34 Defiler/63 Provisioner</P> <P>Antonia Bayle</P>
