<DIV> <DIV>Hi everyone,</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I've been reading "Illusionist vs. Coercer" threads and I'm still a bit torn as to which I should create for my playstyle. Here's what I know so far:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The Illusionist pet is more my playstyle, though I plan on only using it occassionally (I'll mostly be in large xp groups and eventually raids).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The Illusionist gets more CC abilities, though these are also situational since I'll mostly be in XP groups that don't need them.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The Illusionist gets damage procs vs. the Coercer's reactive procs. Damage procs are more my style.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The Illusionist gets a group invisiblity, which is handy, but not easy to pull off in many groups.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>For the Coercer, they have great hate generation buffs. This is a big plus and the main reason I am doubting my original choice to create as an Illusionist.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Coercers also get a nice power balance spell, which is situational, but handy when someone is rezzed or after a long fight, etc.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Coercers buff DPS which is a little more desireable due to haste items.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So, I know I like the Illusionist pet much more (I've seen messy charm breaks in groups and don't want to contribute to that, lol), the CC a little more and the damage procs more than damage reactives. But I really worry about missing out on hate buffs and a couple of other utility things that Coercers bring to the table.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Basically, how much will I miss those hate buffs and the power equalizing spell? Those are my biggest concerns.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks for your advice!</DIV></DIV>

<DIV>i'd suggest not to make your decision so soon, as EoF is coming out soon, there might be a whole new situation for both enchanters with the upcoming AAs, and with the new combat changes that makes cap raised and the effectiveness of skill buff increased (pro illusionists)</DIV>

<P>a) Coercers superior in stunning and mezing ... Illusionist have less stuns can't mez while stuned, stifled or mezed</P> <P>b) Mana regeneration Illusionist better </P> <P>c) Individual DPS on raid (via spells) - Illusionist superior over Coercer, if anything charmable around everything turns upsidedown - nobody can compete with coercer for the top of the food chain</P> <P>d) Coercer buffing FAR more demending - mostly because of hate buff (best in game) and raid wide amends - rest buffs from either class more or less identical (as a coercer you wont be using your DPS buff for anything else but your pet)</P> <P>e) Solo ability coercer FAR superior over illusionist (charm ftw)</P> <P>f) Illusionist have better stfile line and Coercer have better Daze line</P>

I was planning on rolling up this character as a Fae when EoF comes out. I guess I can wait a few weeks to see what people think of the new AA lines. I'll probably go Illusionist as it stands now and just hope I don't miss out too much on the hate buffs. The style of the Illusionist seems to match up with my playstyle more (proc damage instead of reactive damage, static pet instead of charmed pet).</P> <P>The AAs may make a difference, though.</P>

<DIV>aye, proc damage is always better than reactive damage for an enchanter, because for coercers, if u stun mobs=lowering ur own dps=slower mobs kill=longer fights but for an illusionists, a stun really = a faster and at a same time easier fight, and proc damage also much more effective against lower lvl mobs, compared to reactives, reactives really depends on the mobs to cast more/hit faster in order for u to deal more dmg</DIV>

<P>Since class defining spells are given at the early levels and since it takes at most an hour to finish the newb isle (including storyline quests) and attain level 7-8, I suggest you create both.</P>

Coercers are a dime a dozen these days, while Illusionists are hard to find. Sure, illusionists aren't quite as high demand for raids, but they're nice to have. If your guild has a coercer, I'd roll an illusionist. If they have an illusionist, I'd roll of a coercer. If they have neither, I'd roll a coercer. If they have both, I'd roll a brigand <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />.<div></div>
