Hey all i recently rolled a coercer ,and to me its a very fun class to play that has a lot to offer, but there are few things i dont understand . Plz forgive my newbieness probably these questions were asked too many times but is it really worth to charm a heroic mob over non-heroic ? Its easier for heroic to break charm and damage capacity along with mob stamina is not different from charmed non heroic mob. And also plz tell me why should i upgrade my charm? which bonus do i get from Adept3 or master version of charm. So questions are what kind of mobs worth charming heroic or not? and what is the difference between diferent versions of charm? Ty all will be waiting on your answers.

I never noticed any difference in resists between an heroic and non heroic mob. I've been charming both kinds for quite a while and seems to be quite identical. As for the rank of your charm spell, always try to get the highest possible since it determines not only their regen and resist chances but also the power of the abilities they will use. Using a Master I charm for example, my pets do insane damage while using spells and the like. They don't seem to get more HP or anything else but they sure hurt more (or heal more, etc) than lower versions of the spell.Lastly, try to charm mobs with spells as they seem to be much better overall. Personally, I see two kind of situations:1) Solo: I try to get some kind of healer as often as possible. Paladin & Fury mobs are INSANELY good, templar/insquisitor are ok and defiler, etc come third. Some animals are great too with snare for example but without heals, it just slows you down.2) Group:I just get whatever caster mob I can find, trying for wizard/coercer ones. I tend to avoid warlock kind because of their AEs (I like having control) but they do fine if you can manage them. With a good rank (Master I) and good pet, a coercer/pet can be very high in the DPS list Finally, trust me, you WILL want to save your money and buy MASTER I charm above all other spells. Just having this will make everything else easier note: you might want to cancel your Magic/Mental buff while you have something charmed since it applies to pet as well. Also, your DPS buff will always be WAY more useful on a pet than any other player.

Message Edited by Kemor on 09-18-2006 06:08 AM

They fixed the resist buff going to the pet in LU26 or so, it doesnt affect pets anymore. The dps from heroic pets isn't really any greater than solo mobs from what I've noticed. One of the best mobs to charm in the game (1500+ dps) is a solo mob in bonemire. Pets do most of their dps from CA's and Spells, not auto-attack; find something that is a heavy caster and charm it.

As said many times before get a Master1 charm (I just got my hands on my first Master 1 charm), it really does change your pet. Also I try to charm fury/warden class if possible, they seem to have a decent Nuke and decent heals.Heroics are not really better than an average con mob, the only difference can be at charm break time, a heroic (depending on the clasa and ^,^^ or ^^^) could nuke you down before you re-gain control.Have fun, keep at it untill about level 30, lower level Coercers can struggle, but at the higher levels life just gets better.

There is one reason the heroic ones are better pets. They cant run out of power because the power pools wont get scaled down by charm. Counterbalanced by the whoopass they lay down on you when they break.
Other than that, you may as well get any other con there is. I prefer as high yellowas I can go. Wizzies or furies. With furies you just send them in and watch the mayhem, and with wizzies, you root and nuke. Dont let your wizard be in melee range.
